One other question regarding passport pickup. Assuming the interview goes good and they take the passport to prepare the visa, how long has it taken for others to have it ready for pickup? Better to request pickup for the VAC or for a mailboxes etc. location? (we are close to the one in Gascue)

Usually takes about a week to 10 days.. Sometimes sooner. My wife's was ready 4 days after. It all depends. Haha. I'd suggest the one at galería 360 just because they handle the most. But you can get it to any mailboxes etc. So it's your call on that one.

We received our interview date today for March 2nd. Was not expecting that to come for another month! But good news nonetheless.

Suarezj519, or anyone else who may be able to answer another question - what did the medical examination in Santo Domingo involve? Specifically, if anyone doesn’t mind sharing, the total cost in dollars or pesos for the examine/vaccinations. I have reviewed the costs listed on the websites for the two offices here and the basic exam cost is straightforward ($285 if I recall), but I am curious as to how many vaccinations they typically administer- that is the cost I am not sure of. My wife/family have been unable to locate her childhood vaccination records, and even so other friends told me they don’t even take childhood records into account sometimes. Thanks everyone!

Congrats!! Yeah I saw some people on a fb group in in get theirs as well. That's great appointments are getting assigned much faster. For medical.

The old clinic ( near clínica abreu) won't take vaccination records supposedly. The newer one in bell Vista supposedly does. Total cost for my wife at the old clinic was $460. I'd take 550 or so just in case. They accept cash only in dollars or pesos. Also I recommend doing the medical this upcoming Monday morning (Feb 10). Best be there before 5 am or so to get out before noon. You can also make your fingerprint appointment today for same day too on ustraveldocs site for after medical exam. It's best to get it done this early so they don't put her case in administrative processing if they haven't received the results. Also, I assume you're planning on going to interview with your spouse?

Make a profile at" ustraveldocs or call VAC in Galeria " what are those?  Its definitely an ongoing process , but definitely worth it at the end.

    https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/SiteRegister?country=Dominican Republic&language=en_US

Make a profile here with all of the beneficiary info and once you're done there'll be a list of appointment dates and times you can choose from to do the biometrics at galeria 360. But only do this once you get the inteview letter. For example when the interview letter comes, have the beneficiary go in the early morning to medical exam and schedule the biometrics appointment on the same day as the medical exam to get everything done.

Okay so basically everything I submitted. Yes , I just went for three weeks but from the looks of it I guess I have some time to plan it and accrue enough leave to go back. I think I need to at least go for two weeks for the interview ,and if that's not enough time just go back to pick him up later date. The most important step is the approval. When you receive the interview letter , does it include a checklist with information about : medical exam, fingerprints and all that?  Sorry to ask so much questions.

Yeah it basically just sends you to department of state website with further instructions there. Medical exam suggest doing right away and getting all documents together. It'll be about 450 or so without vaccination card st older clinic .  Also to make appointment for fingerprints. Just make a profile on ustraveldocs or call the VAC in galería 360.

How did youmake the appointment para los analisis?

It's just a walk in. Literally you can go tomorrow morning 5am and be out by 9 or so.

Basically took everything I submitted to NVC. They most likely won't need most of it but it's better to be safe than sorry. Birth  and marriage certificates originals, photocopies, translations can help too but not sure they're necessary, recent acta de buena conducta, i864 AOS and all tax documents, petitioners evidence of citizenship, relationship, etc. . Basically everything.

Also, I planned this over a year ago with my work to basically have three or so weeks off. First for the interview and the last two to receive the visa in hand to be able to fly back together. Figured if it doesn't come before I leave, than just wait till a family member or I come back to get her. But since visa is approved we shoukd get the passport back this week or beginning next week.

    Congrats, God is good  !!!

All the documents you sent online DS 260 you took all the originals ?

So Basically how long are you planning to stay there or is your spouse coming back with you ? From what I heard it's best for petitioner to go with benefiary. I just got back from DR Saturday 01/11 and was hoping my husband would be coming back with me from what I see here it takes months before getting an interview.

My case CC 01/02/2020. I just wanted a rough idea because I want to go to my husband interview as well. But I heard the don't give the visa on the same day. By any chance , do you know if it's true ? and if so , how are you planning your trip?

My wife's interview was friday the 10th of January at 9 am . I flew in two days before and we left cotui area which is about two hours away from SD at like 7 am. Just making it. But trust me you can be a bit late because the lines there are ridiculous. Even being early won't help unless you're the first person there which is unlikely. So what happens is if they approve the visa they take the Dominican passport and send it to be picked up at Mail boxes etc. In the place you have chosen within a week or two. The interviews are not private, they are just windows you walk up to and talk to the agent. There's about 40 or so. And you can hear most of them. Every spousal petition I've seen had their spouse with them. Maybe a few went alone but I definitely saw some rejections by the looks on people's faces. If you have all your documents in order they should only ask you a minimum of like 5 questions and already have the approval paper in their hand. We were lucky and had a friendly agent. I can't say the same for all the others unfortunately. Some asked like 30+ questions with approvals and denials.

    Hey how is everyone?

Has anyone received an interview letter for February. Im going crazy its been 3+ months waiting and nothing. CC on 10/2

If you haven't received the interview letter yet, this SHOULD be the week you get it. Usually every second week they start scheduling interviews For the next month for Santo Domingo.

Hi does anyone know if both the applicant and the petitioner have to attend the interview at the embassy in Santo Domingo, Dom. Rep ? I have seen a lot of different answers to this.

It's not necessary but highly recommended that you attend the interview together. I am going to my wife's interview next month. After all this time and money spent on the visa process I don't think it's worth taking a chance not going.

We were intending to have a friend of mine help with the Affidavit of Support once we were in America and it was time for me to do the AOS.

From what I'm gathering, it would be better to start with it now and have it ready for the interview, right?

Also, yes you need all of those documents for the interview. Should of gotten your visa interview checklist what to bring.

    Hi,

So... as the title states, our interview is Jan 15 and we weren't able to get an Affidavit of Support, my fiancé (the petitioner) is currently unemployed and so am I.

Our parents are supporting us until we move back to the U.S. together (he's living in my country at the moment), I was reading here that they haven't been asking for the Affidavit of Support in the interview at the Santo Domingo embassy.

From experience, would the fact that the petitioner is unemployed trigger a request for an Affidavit of Support?

Thanks in advance and if you have any questions to better help me, feel free to ask...

You are going to need a cosponsor or family member that meets the minimum requirements. It is possible to get all that before the interview. You just need to fill a i-864 (for yourself) i-864A (Cosponsor or family member needs to fill this out) since you're k1 visa (i-134 for both you and your fiance)  your tax return and wage transcripts from the IRS from the last three years 2016 - 2018 (Can download these and print them online at irs website) your cosponsor or family members last three tax returns and wage transcripts. If you have not filed taxes the past years or have any wage. A note explaining why will do. As long your cosponsor earns enough they won't even look at your AOS form.

    My CC is September 12,2019

Wife got IL last Friday with CC sept. 11 and saw some people on fb group with cases completed before September 11 still not having received theirs, so don't know what's going on there. Hopefully tomorrow or Friday morning give  out some more early September interviews

My husbando got all his shots outside of the clinic and we paid $275. If you do the shots at the clinic you are looking at about $500

Hmm ok. Yeah we will just be doing everything at the clinic since I've heard the older clinic doesn't accept vaccination records which I kind of insane to me. Because how do they make sure they're not giving a vaccine that person might already have. I heard the new one does accept them. But like I said my wife is unwilling to go there. She's stubborn sometimes haha. Likes to do things the way things have always been done.

I don't know it is a little confusing because I've seen people get IL for early January but say they're F2A, or IR1 on the FB group, but don't go into much detail in their case on there which I think frustrates people wanting to know exact dates haha. My wife's case was just changed to IR1 from cr1 on the 24th of Nov (our two year anniversary). Like I said I don't know the deal with those cases getting interview letters, but it was very few people compared to when they do the massive interview letters sent out. Hopefully everything gets finalized for you in February though, I know now I'm a little worried about something  like that when my wife goes in for the medical stuff.

Well just got IL this morning!!! For January 10th. For medical exam she is going Monday, so they send the results directly to the embassy? My wife is saying something about getting the sealed packet in Santiago since she lives closer to there. Also she's adamant about going to the old clinic, so I'm not gonna argue with her on that haha.

I received a notice today that our marriage certificate was rejected. They stated to "please replace this with an acceptable marriage certificate from the correct issuing authority." I used the Document finder link that they provided and it says that for the Dominican Republic, marriage certificates must be issued by the "oficialia del estado civil" . I reviewed our marriage certificate and the seal says "Oficialia del Estado civil. I tried getting in contact w/ them but I get a message stating that they have a high call volume and the call disconnects. Has anyone ever had the NVC incorrectly reject a valid document ?

Does the MC say acta inextensa on it? That's the one they need. Should have stamp, etc.

Wow February or March that's to far😭😭. My case type is IR1 and my cc is 10/02, it feel like forever I didnt know it will take over a year.

Yeah just our luck that things have been slowing down a lot the past year. I was hoping for an interview letter for December to give myself an excuse to go to DR for christmas 🤣🤣 but that unfortunately didn't happen. Hopefully they're not slowing down now because of the holidays because I'm losing my patience every day that passes. It doesn't help either when the nvc or embassy won't give me ANY information also. Just wait on the letter they say.

Nope. My CC is 9/23/2019 so nothing yet

Yeah last case complete  I saw for cr1/ir1 for SD is Aug 19. It's usually the second or third week of the month when they send out interview letters for the next month. So it could be this week or next for sure. My wife's case is complete 9/11 so if they're only at Aug 19. I don't know how far they'll go for January interviews. Might possibly be a February interview or March. We will see.

They are category IR1 which is a citizien asking for spouse that have been married for 2 yrs or more. If you have less than 2 yrs then you are category CR1 . When residents are petitioning spouses they are category F2A.

Yes hes fine , Thank you !!!
