Oh really??? I thought we would need to change her status once she got here. This is most welcome news.

I guess I will start the process sonner rather than later - i confess i was affraid of the $985 fee to adjust her status.

I am an US Citizen and will file for my mom to come here - she lives overseas.

After she gets interviewed by the US Consulate and gets her visa, how long does she have before she has to make her entry here?

Once she is here, I know we have to file I-485 to change her status, and get her a SID and bank accounts, but she needs to go back to her country to sell her assets and all that fun jazz (no, she cannot sell her house before). For how long can she stay abroad to do that? 6 months?

I would like to share my interview with you all as well.

I went to the office with my husband. We waited on the waiting room for about 30 minutes until the lady officer called my name.

She had me sit, place my stuff (folder with documents and purse) on the chair and hand her my Green Card and drivers license. Then she had me stand up and raise my right hand to swear I would tell the truth.

We finally sat down and she explained we would start with the test to get it out of the way.

I answered 6 questions which she typed on the computer, then I did the reading and writing tests as well. Once those were done she went over my application.

There were 3 little things she corrected and I also changed my name. She asked me the have you ever questions and stamped the wonderful APPROVED word on my application. It was just like that.

I was tearing at the end of the interview as I was very happy and relieved. The lady was very pleasant as well and said that my husband had to take me for dinner to celebrate. I hadnt been sleeping very well the couple of days before the interview, but it turned out to be a very good experience.

(and the huge folder with all documents remained closed throughout the interview)

You guys are awesome.

Thank you for all your comments. Actually me and her have no problem getting along. We talk, go play sports and it seems that when we are alone (without him) everything works. Many times she complained how much she hates him – what we all know it isn’t true. At the end we are both jealous of him I think. And I also think that at the beginning my husband pushed too hard for me to love her and accept her and be with her and be happy that I started resenting the whole thing. Another thing is that he works till later at night and get only one Sunday off.

I am looking for words of wisdom and ways to change this feeling. I am starting to consider going to live in another place and get to see him one in a while, and be just us, not his entire life hunting us - but that simple thought breaks my heart since I love him very, very much, although it is getting harder for me now to accept this whole situation.

I have been crying for the last 3 days – even at my work.

I feel lost.

Hello people. Just to briefly introduce me, I came to USA to get married to my love and I am here for 6 months now.

I know that it is a big change for everyone, and many adjustments are needed, but I would like to know if any of you had gone through (or are going) similar situation.

He has a daughter who lives with us half of the week. I have no issue with the 14 year old kid, but I cannot feel comfortable either when she is around – no matter how much I try. I want to go away, read in my room and do whatever, since I can stay away. My husband, of course, wants me with him so we can spend time together, but we are not really “together” when she is around. We barely talk about things we usually do, and he behaves different.

That is the main issue. Of course he has his life and appointments and things he does, and I am founding myself no willing to follow him anymore. He says we must chose to be together, but to me he is choosing to be with someone else. I understand the acceptance of each other’s life, but it is tough sometimes.

Any words will help.

Hello folks,

My Love checked some info with the Embassy (here in Brazil – Rio de Janeiro) and confirmed that the co-sponsor also needs to send his/her proof of USA citizenship (not just all those forms and documents related) – just add a birth certificate or anything alike to your case if you are using someone’s help.

We probably won't see any action out of California until next week because of the fires. I hope they are back up and running & ready to make up for lost time on Monday. We should put together a Starbucks fund & have it delivered to CSC to speed up productivity

I really don't want to depress you, just warn you. I'm waiting the NVC over 40 days. I really, really hope you don't have to go through the same insanely long wait as me.

My dream is to spend Christmas with my love and I see this dream going away every passing day.

Oh, I DO understand you. We were planning to spend Christmas together too, but hey, lets keep the faith!

I know, I do fight every single day to not get depressed, and I know - we all do - how hard it is.

Hey folks!

My fiance called several times to CIS (California) and finally got some information. It seems they are having a “mailing” problem with contractors, so all cases are in the “staging area”. They have never left to NVC!!!

Not sure if it is true, but what I know is that my case (NOA2) is approved over a month and still didn’t reach the NVC.

So, hope that info at least help to give you guys some “peace”.

I wish we could do something! This seems to be a great lack of respect…

Oh boy! More weird news.

My fiance called USCIS and he was informed that our case was sent directly to the embassy. NVC has never received. Why would they do that?

Gosh, and if they have lost it or somehow there's something wrong with it and no one have let us know? I'm so, SO worried.

There are so many things I still need to do here, as for resign from my work and so... and I would like so badly to be with him by Christmas time!

I emailed embassy here in Brazil but it will take at least 1 whole weak to get an answer.

Have anyone ever heard anything alike?

Well, I’m starting to get depressed. We receive our NOA2 at 09/14 and no NVC so far.

I just saw a timeline from Brazil that has gotten the NOA2 at 09/24 and NVC at 10/11. What should I do?

Yeah! I already have everything they ask on Pack 3 - We are just waiting the NVC number and then "boom".

There is a list on the Embassy website with the documents we need to send in Package 3 and 4, but I learned that reading VJ. Anyway, we still don’t have our number case! (gosh – it is so hard to wait, isn’t it?)
