Hi Guys, Just wanted to note that we got the first approval from the VSC for the month of October! i know that means there are still 2 months worth of applications to get through till they get to the December fillers but its a small crumb of comfort for us as we wait and wait and wait.

No, I guess we are just really lucky. We should go out and buy a lottery ticket!

The length of time between receiving NOA 1 and receiving your Biometric appointment will depend on the number of people who also have to have their biometric at your local office. However given the amount of time that has passed since your NOA one I would be asking questions.

The following is a direct quote from the the USCIS web site:

"We try to schedule biometric appointments as quickly as possible and in most cases you will receive your appointment notice within 30 days of submitting your application"

I think your first step would be to call them.

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to update you and let you know I received my Green Card (10 year) last weekend My interview was December 4th and was pretty painless. No problems at all. I feel so great. This has been a long process and I'm glad to be done with worrying about it.

I'm in the midst of moving and I checked the USCIS website but there were 2 change of address forms. Which one do I need? I looked in a search on here but didn't find anything so I hope i'm not being a pain in the ####### asking this?

you filed 05/12 what kind of petition was it? 8 months is kind of a long processing time for the VSC

If you filed in march 2007 and have maintained your status by getting stamps in your passport to extend your status then you have maintained legal permanent residency status for a period longer than 3 years. You can then go on an file the 400 for citizenship, however you may want to check this with a lawyer affiliated with the AILA.

Been away from the boards for a while visiting family over the Christmas and new year holiday. I have been keeping an eye on the threads of people that filled in the months immediately before us it looks like the CSC is processing November filers at the moment so people who are lucky enough to have been able to file there will be getting their approvals etc soon.

VSC is currently looking like it is beginning to process September filers so it looks like they are about 6-8 weeks behind the CSC.

Being someone who likes facts and figures I looked over the time line data posted for the August filers and I found the following average processing times between approval and the different stages of the process:

Submittion to approval: 115 Days

NOA to approval: 110

Bio to approval: 79 (from date of Bio appointment given by the letter I did not separate out people to have early bio to see if there was any affect of early bio on processing time.)

The other thing that I noticed that in all of the August cases that had approval dates for (there were only two that did not have them) the period of time between the Bio data and the approval was less than 100 days with a minimum of 58 days and a max of 99 days.

I know that VJ has the time lines telling you some of these stats but the smallest period of time they will look over is the last 3 months. I was looking over one month that uses the latest approvals data as posted by members. hope this gives you some crumbs of comfort as we all wait out our journeys and it can be used to give you a predicted time line.

Nice to see that you finally got your bio appointment!!! I went early for my bio appointment and posted a brief description ok my early Bio experiacne on the December filers thread.

Good luck with you early Bio attempt. Two tips I would offer would be:

1. Make sure that you arrive at the office early and I would go in the morning, preferably go in the morning before they get busy. (I arrived 1 hour before they opened)

2. make sure that you dont have any marks or scars on your fingers that would distort your finger prints. (I was about to go and work on my car and a VJ gave me that tip)

I got my biometrics appt letter for the 14th of January

Yes you can go early for a Bio appointment but the ASC can reject you it just depends on who is on duty that day and how busy they are. My Bio was scheduled 1/12/2010 and I got it done 12/22/2009. I arrived early (1 hour before the center opened) to make sure I was first in line and they were very nice about it, it was no trouble at all. However one of the November Filers tried and they were turned away.

I had my Bio appointment early today, the process was really easy I made sure I got to the ASC early -(1 hour before they opened) to make sure I was first in line and did not have to wait in line. I showed her the appointment letter and said that I was scheduled in mid January but I have the day off work and wondered if I could get it done early. She said that was no problem and put an initial next to the date and checked my ID. Then they gave me a clip board with a piece of paper to fill out. This lists:

Your full name

Place of birth

Country of citizenship

Height

Weight

Hair Color

Eye Color

Mother and fathers first name (dont know why they ask for that)

Social security number

Alien number

and the number from the top of the appointment letter

Then you get into a second line for a guy to look over your paperwork and stamp it at this point you needed to show id again. then he told me to go and sit down and wait (again) till the number on the ticket that they had given me was called. Really short wait to join another line to actually get into one of the biometric booths. when you are in there they scan your fingers a set of 4 and a thumb, then individually. (they had to do mine a few times and she kept asking me to relax my fingers) after that they as you to sit down while they take your picture. Once they and you are happy with it you are done.

its weird how things change, back when we filed I129f with csc, vsc was so much faster... and now its the other way around! or does it depend on the kind of application?

I am a December filer for ROC and was wondering the same, I also noted that the AOS had to be filed in a lock box in Chicago and then they shipped it where ever they wanted it to go, yet the filing for the ROC is based on geographical area, I wonder why?

I have a question for you how early do you think you could show up for an early walk in Biometric appointment? I have my bio date in mid January but I have a free day this Tuesday (12/22/09) so I was planning to go down to the office (waiting on the door step when they open) to see if they will let me have the biometrics appointment early.

Any experiences with early bio and do you think I would be able to get my bio appointment early. Or will they tell me to go away?

Some people receive it as early as 1 week after the NOA1 (check my timeline) while others take around 3-4 weeks, depending on which ASC office you will go to for your bio.

Guys I have a question for you all, how long after you received NOA1 did you get the letter telling you when to go for your biometrics appointment.

I think the NOA can take awhile because our check was cashed on 12/1 (NOA receipt showed 11/30), but we didn't get the NOA in the mail until 12/8. It took almost a week to get here?

We're still waiting on biometrics...

NOA one is the quick part of the process! takes roughly a week at the VSC from receipt date of the package, biometrics appointment is roughly 1 months after the they get the package. However that is likely to longer for us because of the holidays.

Then the really long part of the process begins the wait between bio and approval, that could be 2 to 3 months or longer.

A good guide for this is the processing dates posted on the October and Novmeber filings threads.

I hated going through this for like 18 months for the I-130 so now I get paranoid... Sorry, I just wanted to share my happy news that they cashed the check lol

I hear you on the waiting, it is not so much the passage of time that gets me it is the feeling of helplessness and not being able to do anything about it.

I am really happy for you and hope the rest of your process goes smoothly. If they cashed your check you should be getting your NOA1 soon!!!!!
