I assume that your parents are getting a medical in their home country and doing the Consulate interview. If this is the case, they do not mention anything about biometrics, although they do take biometrics (fingerprints) at the interview. This will not be the last time your parents complete biometrics. Each step of the journey they will have to provide biometrics [IR5 interveiw in home country, Removal of Conditions (ROC), and Citizenship, if applicable]. 

Thanks for ur response.  Are u sure there's no need to schedule the biometrics separately? Folks at the Mumbai - IR5 interview posts mentioned I need to do that before the interview.  I'm confused now

We did medical in Chennai 10-days before interview (rcvd sealed envelope next afternoon) and will do Biometric the day before interview in Mumbai.

Thanks. Are u sure the biometrics needs to be done for them ? I posted this question as a separate post and people responded saying there's no need to schedule for biometrics as it will happen on the day of interview. Now I'm confused

I got the interview appointment for my parents but it just states about the interview , medical exam which we need to schedule but nothing about the biometrics. Is it not required for everybody? If it is then how do I take one ? How soon can it be scheduled before the interview date ?

Thank you. Another question I have is- my mom just renewed her passport as her current one is expiring in January.  So going forward, for biometrics or for any other purpose,  which passport number should we use? And could it complicate things as if I use the new one , it wont match with what they have on file ?

My parents IR5 was documentarliy approved by NVC in Aug but since then there has been no change in the status. It still says the case is at NVC. It's been over a month. So I was wondering, how much time it could for them to transfer the case to the local embassy?

Can we go for a medical exam or even biometrics , before receiving the Interview appointment letter? My parents case was forwarded to the mumbai consulate by NVC few days before and I read , one can go for the medical exam and biometrics even before receiving the appointment letter but ustraveldocs website states,  IL needs to be carried while going for medical etc ? Please let me know
