  1. Hi my wife entered US 3 weeks ago on a CR1 visa, at her visa interview after her interview was approved the agent said that she will get her SSN card within 3 weeks of entering the US. When I called social security office to get an update on the card they asked me if she submitted an form for SSN, they said it was done during the visa application process. I didn't see anything about submitting an form to get SSN and was under the impression that after you pay the final fees and enter US they will mail you the card within 3 weeks. Does anyone know how the process works? When I called the office they told me to make an appointment to apply for SSN and the problem is that next available appointment isn't until end of June.

    Thanks.

Hi Alan, sorry for the late reply. They asked me for more evidence such as our hotel & travel receipts in both names. They also asked for pictures from when we met and labeled from our trips. They also wanted

in detail a written letter how we met and how it led up to marriage in full detail.  Hope this helps & best of luck to both of you. Stefanie Singh

No problem, I think they might ask me to write a letter, because I have provided everything else. I hope what ever they ask is something simple, with everything that is happening in the world, it's tough to get things done.

you will receive waht they are requesting by mail. This happened to me when i was doing my i130 also

What did they ask you to sent, if you don't mind me asking. I sent every proof I have to show our marriage is real, engagement and wedding photos, other photos of us, marriage licence, wedding invitation, certification from my church showing we got married there, messages, phone call/video call logs. Also boarding pass that shows when I went to India and when I came back.

  4. I don't mind if they deny I-129F I was not planing on submitting I-129F but when I found out there was no extra cost I submitted the form. Whatever it takes to have my wife by my side. What worried me about this letter is that it states I-129F will be denied because USCIS don't have any records of a pending or approved I-130 on file. I received NOA1 letter for I-130 and when I log in to the USCIS website it shows all the documents they scanned, which I sent to them. When I submitted I-129F I provided all the required documents including copy of NOA1 letter for I-130. Should I be worried? It will be 6 months in 2 weeks since I have received NOA1 for I-130.

  5. Since I got married in India and I am in the process of bringing my wife here, she don't have a SSN and when I file for taxes if I put down married they ask for wife's SSN. I am worried to put single because when it's time to prove that I am financially stable to take care of my wife, I will have to submit tax returns papers for last 3 years, I don't want there to be any delay if I put single on tax returns. Sorry if this is a stupid question, I don't want to cause any delay in her coming to US.

  7. I don't know if this is a stupid question but I saw this on the USCIS website when I logged in today:

"Your benefit request has been accepted and is under review"

Does this mean they are looking at my application now or do I have to wait for my date to come up? My application was received on 8/15/2019 and got my NOA1 few days latter.
