  1. Hey guys,

getting ready to file to remove conditions and was just wondering about the fingerprint information (Form FD-258) included in the evidence checklist. Is it imperative to include this if there’s going to be a biometrics appointment anyway?

As it’s included in the checklist and if it does circumvent the biometrics appointment, I’d definitely want to include but just thought I’d check to see if it does make a difference.

    Thanks y’all!

  2. Hi y'all,

I'm AOS pending with EAD granted but am in the unique situation of possibly having to travel back to my home country to attend my father's funeral. Given the short timeframe, possibly 11 days at the most, is there any way to gain an Advance Parole Document and attend the funeral without abandoning my I-485 application?

    Thanks

My wife used her EAD letter to secure a job and start training. The training wasn't a paid training, so she really didn't work before the card arrived. She was approved on a Saturday ( When we got the letter) and she went to the job on Monday and showed them the letter, they let her come in Tuesday to start training, by Thursday afternoon her actual card arrived in the mail, and on the next day (Friday) she filled out all of her HR/ Payroll paperwork and was on payroll starting the next week on Monday. So card was 5 days behind the letter in our case. She already had the SS card ( Applied for that 18 hours after landing in the US, and received a week later), so I am not sure on the SS card.

I received the letter on Feb 1st (saturday) but then, surprisingly, received the actual card in the mail yesterday which is way quicker than I was expecting!

Interesting on SS - I ticked the box asking to be issued with an SS on the I-765 application so I guess I will have to wait and see what happens over the next few weeks!

    1) can take up to 30 days but most get it within 10 days

2_ yes EAD will allow you to work

    3) did you check the SSN box when filing I-485 ? if yes than you will get it separately as SSN office is different from USCIS

    Thanks for the input.

To clarify, will the EAD letter (before receiving the card) allow me to start applying and working?

In regards to the SSN office, do they usually wait to issue a social security number until your overlying I-485 application is granted?

  5. Hi y'all,

I just received the approval letter for my EAD and had a few questions.

    1. How long it typically takes to receive the card in the mail?
    2. Although the letter states that it in itself is not proof of eligibility to work, would most employers accept that proof is on its way?
    3. Does the EAD also come with an SSN?

    Thanks!

  6. Thanks for the info everybody!

The only reason I had to pay for extra vaccines was the UK medical records they sent across were missing my child immunisations so I have to have MMR and flu as we are in season. I was just a lot easier to have it done there and then. I could have gone to CVS, then come back.

Along with the vaccines mentioned on the USCIS website, were there any apart from the flu shot that they recommended you get there and then?

Pretty up-to-date with most of my other vaccines as I have been an avid traveller but I'm trying to get out of having any more if i can help it.

  7. Hi y’all,

Received a “Courtesy Letter to Applicant” stating that, after reviewing my I-485 application, the evidence was deficient - specifically mentioning the lack of a complete I-693.

The letter says that i’ll either receive an interview notice or a RfE and that I’ll need the medical by then. In the collective experience of AOS applicants, does this letter mean that an interview notice should be coming soon? Would it be desirable to do the medical done before I get any further correspondence or should I wait to hear more from USCIS?

    Thanks!

In the cases of direct flights from the 48 states, you're fine to travel on a regular state ID or drivers license (until RealID requirements start kicking in). However, if you're thinking about cruises from the mainland (i.e. Seattle to Alaska), you should note that most cruises will stop in Canada on the way.

Ah, yes, that is something to think about. Thanks for mentioning that.

You have to take the letter with you. They will stamp on it, but otherwise nobody will ask for it.

The sheet will ask for your name, birth date, height, weight, hair and eye color and such.  The form I completed had both metric and imperial system on it, so if you don't know your weight and height in inches and pounds you are still fine.

Thanks for that. Do you remember how long the whole process took?
