  1. Hi, Does anyone have any experience adding a non-USC partner to a Union Bank checking account? We are hoping to head into the bank with the EAD, SSN, Marriage certificate and USCIS NOA letters. Will this be enough evidence to support adding a name to a joint account? Thanks
  2. Hi, I recently found out that my UK driving license is no longer valid on Californian roads after moving here. I am an EAD holder waiting for my AOS interview, what will I need to take to the DMV and will I need to take the knowledge test or just the driving test? Thanks
  3. Hi y'all, I'm AOS pending with EAD granted but am in the unique situation of possibly having to travel back to my home country to attend my father's funeral. Given the short timeframe, possibly 11 days at the most, is there any way to gain an Advance Parole Document and attend the funeral without abandoning my I-485 application? Thanks
  4. I received the letter on Feb 1st (saturday) but then, surprisingly, received the actual card in the mail yesterday which is way quicker than I was expecting! Interesting on SS - I ticked the box asking to be issued with an SS on the I-765 application so I guess I will have to wait and see what happens over the next few weeks!
  5. Thanks for the input. To clarify, will the EAD letter (before receiving the card) allow me to start applying and working? In regards to the SSN office, do they usually wait to issue a social security number until your overlying I-485 application is granted?
  6. Hi y'all, I just received the approval letter for my EAD and had a few questions. How long it typically takes to receive the card in the mail? Although the letter states that it in itself is not proof of eligibility to work, would most employers accept that proof is on its way? Does the EAD also come with an SSN? Thanks!
  7. Thanks for the info everybody! Along with the vaccines mentioned on the USCIS website, were there any apart from the flu shot that they recommended you get there and then? Pretty up-to-date with most of my other vaccines as I have been an avid traveller but I'm trying to get out of having any more if i can help it.
  8. Hi y’all, Received a “Courtesy Letter to Applicant” stating that, after reviewing my I-485 application, the evidence was deficient - specifically mentioning the lack of a complete I-693. The letter says that i’ll either receive an interview notice or a RfE and that I’ll need the medical by then. In the collective experience of AOS applicants, does this letter mean that an interview notice should be coming soon? Would it be desirable to do the medical done before I get any further correspondence or should I wait to hear more from USCIS? Thanks!
  9. Ah, yes, that is something to think about. Thanks for mentioning that.
  10. Thank you very much. I thought so but figured it was worth checking anyway - throwing away the AOS application over a trip would be a drag.
  11. Hi, While AOS is pending with the beneficiary in the US, is it fine to travel to places like Hawaii and Alaska? I know leaving the country means USCIS treats the application as abandoned without a travel permit, but I was wondering if travel to these US states is prohibited too? Thanks
  12. Thanks for that. Do you remember how long the whole process took?
  13. Hi y’all, I have a biometrics appointment in CA tomorrow - is there anything I should take or be aware of? What does the biometrics worksheet entail? Thanks for any and all advice.
  14. Hi y’all, Currently in the process of completing an AOS application. I’m just wondering what my immigration status is if I arrived on an ESTA and was waived through? Would it be VWP or WT? Thanks
