Hey y'all. My fiance and I had our Interview Nov 20. We brought the wrong type of Police Certificate which if I'm not mistaken looks like we haven't been the only ones to have done this. We were issued a white 221g requesting we send in the proper police certificate and her passport. We went back home from Montreal to Vancouver to get the Fingerprint based PC. We sent it in and they received it Dec 13. We are in AP now on CEAC and it has been updated one time. Everywhere says usually 6-8 weeks is the general time frame for an issue of the visa. Just posting this to see if anyone else has gone through this and how long it took them. I know every case is different, just trying to reach out and get some hope about it. Also seeing if anyone has ever gone through the process of requesting the passport back for travel and if that pauses your processing.
Hope everyone had a good Christmas! The same thing happened to me as well. It took me 12 weeks for my case status to change to none-immigrant and my case date changed as well. From what I understand, it means they are finally working on my case. My interview date was October 2nd. Hope that helps!

I have no clue why they’d revoke my approval.. I haven’t had any details from the consulate, NVC or USCIS. We’re really getting worried now.

Then I wouldn't worry.
It has been really stressful. At the interview the lady required another police certificate and my passport, when I sent the paperwork in, I was told the consulate agent had changed her mind and only required my passport after all. It made no sense to us why we were declined then if the document wasn’t needed after all. We’ve been waiting for about 9 weeks now and now I see it has been sent back to NVC and we’re really worried of being officially declined. We don’t understand the reasoning.

I wouldn’t read too much into the status yet...see what the consulate says. If it really was sent back to NVC then it will be returned to USCIS to expire (die). ISCIS does not review a returned I-129F by policy. The consulate would only return the petition if they believe it is now invalid - either in a hard requirement (possibly not free to marry, undisclosed criminal al activity by the petitioner, etc) or that the relationship is not legitimate.
My petition was valid until October, but since I have been in AP, my I-129F would technically be now expired.

I went through this... and I know exactly how you must be feeling. I would definitely email the embassy and check on any updates. Considering my scenario and others here, usually when the case is sent back means it has been denied. Lets hope this is not the case. Did they keep your passport? Did they say they need to go over your file once more and then make a decision? What was the document that was missing? What exactly happen?
They have my passport. I had a police certificate for border crossing which wasn’t the right one to have.. so I sent the right one for my K1 visa after along with my passport. I have never been arrested and have no criminal record. The lady at my interview just said to send the right document and everything would be fine.

Yes I’ve had my interview in October and was handed a 221 (G) slip because of a document that was missing which I sent immediately after. I have been in administrative processing ever since.

My case has been pending in administrative processing for about 8-9 weeks and I saw on CEAC that it has just changed to “At NVC”.
could someone explained to me what happens then? Are they reviewing my case still? -

Hi all,
I posted this in another forum a few weeks ago and thought I would post here too.
My fiancé had his interview in Montreal on October 16th, and it went smoothly. They looked over his docs, asked a few questions, handed him his pink paper and said it would be two weeks until the docs came back. Well, we're about 7 weeks out now and it's still in Administrative Processing. Case was last updated on November 20th.
I've read thread after thread about AP and it's just so strange to me that it's taking this long and we haven't heard anything from Montreal. He hasn't gotten any requests for additional documents, no 221g or any correspondence from the embassy.
I can see a couple of reasons why it would be taking so long. I was only at my job for about 2 months at the time of his interview. It exceeds the income requirements, but we decided to add my mom as a joint sponsor just in case. This might lead to additional processing. I saw the embassy moved locations earlier this month, and that combined with the Thanksgiving holiday most likely caused delays. But other than that I have no idea.
I'm just extremely anxious about this. Our wedding is on February 8th and I'm so nervous that he won't get his visa documents in time, and I have no idea what we're going to do if it gets to that point. I sent a message to the embassy today asking about his status through the Public Inquiry Form, and I'm hoping I hear back from them soon. If it gets to January and still nothing, I might contact my congressperson and see if he could help.
I'm posting here for moral support 🥺and to see what your experiences were like with Montreal. How long did it take you to get back your documents after the interview? What's the longest you've heard of people waiting in AP when the embassy approved them at the interview?
Thanks all! I'm seriously praying this is over soon.
I feel your pain. Our case has been in AP since October 2nd, 221(G). We haven’t heard anything from the consulate yet, we’ve sent the right documents though. We’re still in the waiting game. Have you finally heard back from them?

My case has been under AP since October 2nd, for incorrect documents. I’ve sent whatever they needed within 2 weeks, to be told they didn’t even need it after all.. they’ve been holding my passport ever since. I have received no details about my case, except that it is still under AP as of now in Montreal. Anyone else on the same boat? I’ve tried sending emails, but they can’t seem to be able to help me.

On October 2nd, my K1 visa application was denied due to incorrect police certificates. (I had one for border crossing, not immigration based on Privacy Act) they still showed that I had no criminal record or anything like that. I was given a 221 G refusal letter, provide the correct certificate and my passport. I went and asked for the proper documents and had been waiting for them to come through the mail since it takes a few business days. I’ve mailed the consulate to make sure I had the right document this time so they could confirm. The agent actually messaged me back saying ONLY my passport was required after all, that the officer processing my case did not require a new police certificate after all, which had me very confused. I’ve sent my passport to them, and I was told 6-8 weeks waiting for the processing times. Does this mean my visa will be approved after all? Will they ask for my police certificate after a month? I plan on sending the document soon as I get it anyways even though it isn’t required anymore just for a piece of mind. Anyone else had that happened?

I’m required to send documents to the US Consulate in Montreal. I understand that I’m not supposed to use the consulate’s address but use courier services. I can’t seem to find any instructions, I just want to send them my documents. Does anyone know where should I send my mail?

I agree with geowrian, consulates can extend the validity dates of the approved K1 petition, if the petition is still being processed. If you want to be sure, contact the consulate and inquire about a petition validity extension. There is some information about that very topic in the DOS link FAQs:
Good luck on your immigration journey.
I sent them an email, waiting on their answer.

It looks like this is canada-specific
Under "Police, Court, Prison records" it says
Procedure for Obtaining: To obtain this document, you must submit your fingerprints to a local police service or RCMP-approved partner agency. YOU MUST STATE THAT YOU ARE REQUESTING THE RECORD UNDER THE PRIVACY ACT. Do not select “Visa/Border Crossing” as the purpose of the request. You must also specifically request the record which includes the “RCMP National Repository entire holdings.”
SO I assume you didn't do this and therefore sent the wrong type of certificate?
If they are asking you to resend, I'm assuming you'll be fine if you do as they ask.
Its good if you fill in your timeline... it gives other posters information about you that will help them better answer your questions.
I went down to my town’s police station, they gave me my clearance for the wrong type of visa, I didn’t know I had the wrong one until the officer at the consulate pointed it out. I will get the right document within a few business days and will send it back. I’m just worried my approval notice will be expired by then and it could cause a problem.

I recently had my interview and I got denied. They says the police certificates I gave them was not « based on Privacy Act ». I have no clue what that is, I thought the ones I had were good. They are requesting me to send the right document by Canada Post through mail with my passeport and expect an answer between 6-8 weeks. I could use some guidance, could I be declined again even if I file the right document? Also my visa approval was ending this week, will I need to ask for an extension?

Probably not. Sounds like you would benefit from reading the AOS guides.
Just had a look at the guide and it is actually quite helpful, thank you.

You get to do the medical again if it is over 1 year old when you file the AOS. This shouldn't occur as the time for entry into the US is six months, then 90 days to get married.
Thought so too. I’ll look at the guides cause this is getting complicated ><

Definitely will have a look.

I’ve read to change your visa to the official green card, you need to do an medical exam again and another interview. I’ve already done the medical for the visa k1, will I have to do it again?

I’m supposed to get my medical examination done and I see it says they’re going to look at external genitalia. What should I expect ?

Looking for interview dates for any place in Canada but the earliest available is 6 months from now. Haven't made the payment yet and while I'm looking at the first available dates, some embassies say there are no available dates. Looking for an interview date ASAP. Any chance the dates will open up sooner in any embassy once I make the payment? Is there a good time to check ?
I’ve been trying to get an appointment for 2 weeks now for a visa K1. Montreal embassy has no dates available so far, I’ve been looking everyday, every hour. Even have alarms set up for the night.
Case created date changed

My case create date has changed and I see I’ve gone from immigrant passport to none immigrant. Can I safely assume I am (finally) being approved ?
