I met Trang on HelloTalk in December of 2018. I had visited Vietnam in October/November of 2018. I traveled with a friend on a motorcycle tour of northern Vietnam. We had a wonderful time and immediately talked about going back again. I regretted not knowing the Vietnamese language so when I got back to the states, I found the language learning app HelloTalk and started practicing Vietnamese. I met Trang the following month and we began talking regularly for a few weeks. Pretty soon, we were chatting every day!
I flew back to Vietnam in July 2019, this time to Saigon to meet Trang. We had the most wonderful time together for 2 weeks. We traveled to Hanoi, HaLong, and Phu Quoc. The day before I flew back to the USA, I asked Trang to marry me. We went out that day to find an engagement ring. Later in the day, I met her father and one of her brothers. Everything went very well and we can't wait for what the future holds.
