Thanks eveyone for sharing your experiences in the process. This forum is helping a lot. I realize I am not alone.
My timeline for J1 no objection waiver is:
- No objection letter petition to my Embassy (Spain): June 15
- No objection letter sent from my Embassy to DOS: July 17
- DOS favorable recommendation: July 30
- Receipt number in my mail: August 7
- USCIS "case received at another USCIS office" since August 8.
No news from USCIS since then.
Still waiting with pills for anxiety. This is an agony!!!
This journey is taking soooo long!!
I am a teacher and a school is waiting for me, I don't know for how long they can be holding the position.
I really hope the waiver is about to come. Crossing my fingers and checking status everyday.
Thank you for your comments and for sharing.
What if your program sends a letter for expedite? claiming financial loss?
I'm in the same..I actually had a lawyer filed an expedite but still same status "case received at another USCIS office"..I believed she filed on Thursday afternoon... saw in others blogs that accepting expedite may take more or less 3 days, so crossing my fingers!
My program started in June, so am as exasperated as you..
Best of luck!
For the others who got approval Congrats!!

Case Was Received At Another USCIS Office
Do you guys know what it means?
same here!,
I just received first 797C ... says they received my case on August 06, and sent this form on 29...
and it says the same thing...Actually I have read not sure if in this blog or others years that something similar happen.. it just took longer process in USCIS due to the delay.

Just updating my case hopefully helps anyone
Sent all my paperwork on June 14 (DS3035 and embassy paperwork for NOC)
my embassy filed the NOC on 19 of June
The check was cashed on June 22
it took exactly one month to appear in DOS
with Fee/form ds3035/form ds2019/ passport id page/statement of reason/other =dated July 18 2019 (but appeared in the page till July 20)
July 23 = sent email asking for an expedite to DOS.. just a regular email to 212e explaining that my program had already started and if there was a possible way to get it faster and explaining that my Non Objection was sent before. My Case is NOT Gov funded, and I already had an H1B approved.
Non Objection statement July 25, 2019 [although My embassy filed it by mail the June 19 and re faxed it July 11]
July 29= they responded (by email) telling me they had sent a fav recommendation (DOS site was updating July 30)
After calling every day to USCIS for a month, sending emails to lockbox, DOS, to Vermont center and also contacting a local congressman...having 3 inquiries...
Finally was DOS 212e email who talked to USCIS and gave my receipt number yesterday...
Checking my receipt: Case was received at another USCIS office on Aug 30, 2019.
Apparently some of others had the same issue...
I just put a request for expedite now and let's see how that turns out..I'll update once I have more
BTW haven't received DOS or USCIS mail...
Should I confirm my mailing address??? as it's different that my current address? I'm just worried...
I also hired a lawyer for the expedite... sorry guys this process is taking the toll on me .. and I see that others feel the same.
Best of luck!

Hi yes, thanks, I meant the favorable recommendation letter from DOS.
So if I understood right, first I will have a notice letter from USCIS which then will allow me on their website to track the waiver case? How quickly USCIS sends the notice letter?
And just for records in this forum, I was a Fulbright student, didnt use any lawyer in filing my (NOS) case, it took exactly 16 weeks after sponsor views were requested. Happy to share my experience in DM.
Best of luck to everyone who is waiting.
it should be fast, normally in the first week...but unfortunately if you read in the last posts... a lot of us haven't actually received anything from USCIS (my case it's been more than 30 days)...If you don't received it by monday next week I would start calling..Best of luck!

For some people in the forum, USCIS part worked so fast that they got final approval within 10-14 days of favorable recommendation! While it’s been exactly two weeks for me today and I don’t have any letter from DoS or USCIS! 😐
I'm in the same boat....32 days since DOS sent my FR...I'm calling every day and still they don't have my file... also wrote emails and nothing, even wrote to DOS asking... please let me know if you receive anything next week (Monday is labour day). Best of luck

Has anyone received DOS or USCIS receipt number? I have been calling every day to USCIS even spoken twice to immigration officer! and nothing, they can't find my file. I have also contacted twice DOS by email, and they haven't responded. It's been 31 days for me since my fav recommendation. I'm desperate

Guys I am really concerned about my Waiver...
My no objection letter was updated in May 22 and till now (August 27) I still don't have the recommendation! I e-mail them and they just said the timeline now is 12-16 weeks so I should be patient but I'm seeing here people receiving it. I am just so sad and anxious about it
you could email them and explain your case, that's what I did in my case my program had already started.
Hopefully it will work

How do you know it went to Vermont center? My favorable recommendation was on 16th and I too haven’t received any letter from either DoS or USCIS.
USCIS page says that non-objection are Vermont, most commonly
https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/
I'll keep you updated of my case if it helps... just called nothing yet
-
has anyone recently received their receipt number by USCIS? It's been almost a month and they can't find my file.
Fav recommendation by DOS 07/29/2019
Already sent two emails to Vermont center and DOS, no response yet. this is the email I used: vsc.ncscfollowup@dhs.gov

IMPORTANT: I have updated change of address to Dept. of State last month, but still they sent it to my old address. Even USCIS sent I-797C mail to old address. Luckily, USPS forwarded both letters to my current address.
Congrats! hopefully you will receive it soon!!

Till today I haven't received anything not from the DOS or USCIS.
My mailing address is in the US [Boston] which is different from my main address.
I've been calling and live chatting every other day and they say to wait 30 days... apparently they can't find my file.
Best of luck

is there any update from DOS or USCIS in your case. Please post if you have any new updates. My case, DOS sent Favorable recommendation on August 7 and i have not received any letter from either DOS or USCIS.
No.. I'm desperate.. I've been calling and live chatting every day with USCIS and they can't find my file... I sent them an email to lockbox to see if they had my file but never responded [someone mention before in this post that DOS is sending them electronically but I honestly don't know].
Yesterday I sent an email to DOS bc the people from the call center told me to get in touch with them.
Apparently if you call or live chat with them you only reach tier 1 which is made of the ppl who work in the call center and you should talk to tier 2 which are the real immigration officers, but every time they tell me they are going to forward me they are busy... It also doesn't help that I'm currently outside the US so they can't call back my number, maybe you could try?...
I'm sorry my program is also desperate I'm afraid I'm going to loose my spot..
Please let me know if you get more info too.

After months of waiting the case was updated online as "Not Subject" in the waiver column and that 212 (e) finding letter has been sent on August 7th.
It is almost 3 weeks and I'm yet to receive the letter. Please does anyone know about this and if it usually take this long to get the letter in the mail.
ThanksI don't know if it helps but mine was a fav recommendation on the 29...and still haven't received the letter from DOS either (3 weeks) or the receipt number of USCIS.
Hopefully this week...best of luck

Thank you! This is good information for me.
I have tried to send them a secure email, but unfortunately they show me a message when I tried to submit "this case is in normal processing time so I cannot create the inquiry".
Have you though of asking for an expedite?
May I ask how long did they take to give you your receipt number?

Hello All,
I applied J1 waiver on Jan. 4th with "No Objection Statement" and got a favorable recommendation letter from DOS. USCIS Vermont office received my case on April 10 but I didn't get the approval letter yet. I called to USCIS many times, but always they told me that my case is still pending and it's in normal processing time (4 weeks to 6 months?). It looks approval is usually not updated in website on time. (My wife applied waiver last December and got her approval letter on Feb. 22, but in website her case shows still pending status now.
I'm panic now because my j1 will be expire end of this month.
Is there any way to directly contact Vermont office or is there another way to know real-time status?
Please help me...
Hey If you go to USCIS center (webpage) -> under TOOLs ->> ask about my case ->> there's an option of "case outside normal processing times", maybe you can send them a email. As I was calling them because I haven't received my receipt number, they told me if you create an account and send them a secure email the Tier 2 "immigration agents" are going to get it instead of tier 1 (which is live chat and the call center people). Hopefully this helps...
I'm also waiting and my program already started. Best of luck!!

I'm going crazy... is there another way of getting USCIS receipt number?
it's been two weeks... I have called, live chat and even email.
Is there a way I can get my receipt number in another way?
are all the cases filed to Vermont?
Anything helps please...
-
The same to me.
Anyone know how long does it take from having a favorable recommendation to get the USCIS new receipt number?
It seems for some people is 7-10 days from others longer?!
Before calling I just want to make sure I leave enough time for them to receive the paperwork (as I understand DOS files an I-612 for you to USCIS).
Any input helps
thanks in advance

Hey thanks everyone for sharing.
I'm sharing also my journey any feedback helps.
Non Objection [research scholar j1 no gov fund, no patient contact]
I got approved an H1B based on my ds19 (it was marked as not e212 subject) to start a position at BU
Got it and went to my embassy when they told me there was a confusion and I should get a Waiver.
Sent all my paperwork on June 14 (DS3035 and embassy paperwork for NOC)
my embassy filed the NOC on 19 of june
The check was cashed on June 22
Unfortunately the tracking of my NOC was never updated so I asked them to send it again (they did on fax on July 11)
Finally my case was updated with all documents EXCEPT NOC received on last Friday June 19
I'm missing my NOC so I send an email.
I'm wondering if someone had something similar? I'm just worried because I understand the timeline starts until you have all the documents.
Thanks
