Hello,
I'm trying to help a friend who's crazy relative has kept his greencard and won't give it up. Is it possible to tell the USCIS that he never received the greencard when he files I-90? or does he have to order a replacement card as if the original was stolen? The thing is that if he files to order a replacement, then he'll have to pay the $290 + $80 fee(I believe) which is not something he can easily afford at this time.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help.

Awww that's some nice advice in the end cmnb....flowers. Make sure you don't mention anything about the connecting flight and chances are she won't mention it.
All the best!
Thanks guys but she's still sitting at Newark airport due to bad weather .
It's nice and sunny in Chicago but it's crappy in Newark. I am so mad at myself and stupid American Airlines. Never taking connecting flight for international travel. NEVER EVER!
They could have took off before the bad weather hit them but no they had to delay it just enough so that it's get delayed even more...ahhhh...so mad.. :( :(

Hey loto,
My wife has the big envelope for the medical, does she need to carry that with her at the airport or can she put it in the checked-in luggage? She also has the sealed envelope given to her at the time of interview(or maybe at VFS when she picked up the passport). She will need to carry that with her in the hand bag, correct?
Thanks in advance!
I have emailed to you the answer!
Thanks Loto! As always very helpful! She's going to carry the medical envelope in the checked-in bag and carry the sealed envelope and passport with her.

My wife will be coming end of this week and her flight is from Mumbai->Newark(POE)->Chicago. She's flying Jet Airways and has domestic flight of American Airlines. How hard is it to go from one terminal to another with all your luggage? I know there's a tram that takes you from one terminal to next but I heard you HAVE to goto tram by escalator. Is that true? are there no elevators which you can use to goto tram? Will she able to get any help with the luggage if needed at the airport?
I really hate myself for buying this ticket!!! I should've just bought continental(no terminal change) I just hope she's not be mad at me when I see her.

ROFL @ Paris
Yeah maybe one day Rajee Jr will be in the picture, but for now I'm just focused on the interview.
I think you guys all have cool ideas of how to pass the time ... But, believe it or not, I'm gonna try to get some shut-eye ... I'm sleep deprived enough so I just may be able to do it! I fully expect to be awoken to hear good news!
If I can't sleep, I definitely have some movies I could watch on my DVR lol
UPDATE: 2 hours since the interview started!
I bet you won't be able to sleep....no matter how bad you need it!!
It's just nerve-wrecking feeling that just won't go away until you get the phone call

Good luck on your interview hyd!! We were so close in the NVC process and that was really helpful(kept me from panicking at times ) I hope you get to be with your hubby soon as I'm sure he's waiting to be with you too!!!
People keep telling me countdown begins now but I'm like there's been too many countdown in this whole process. I think the real countdown is to the time when your spouse is with you in the U.S.!!

Best of luck to you both....go watch a movie now

Actually they are referring to the cover letter of DS-230 packet as the interview letter. See my reply to your post in Asia: South forum.

Hey all,
My wife has interview on Monday at the Mumbai Consulate for IR-1 visa. Can she take the cellphone with her? I know they don't allow it inside the consulate but I have heard that if someone does bring it then they put it in a locker. Is that true? Please let me know as soon as possible.
Many thanks in advance!!!
desiboy please let me know your wife interview experiences my husband interview is on 15th at the mumbai consulate.
nitshrut,
Interview was smooth. The only thing is even though my wife's interview was at 7:30AM, she didn't get out until 11:30AM! So be patient if your husband doesn't call you right away.
She had to go through security check process and then given a token. She was then interviewd by indian lady who asked few questions. Then she was told to wait..and wait...and wait (for four hours!). She was finally called to be interviewed by the american lady officer. Once the interview was completed, she was told congrats, your visa has been granted. You may pick up your passport today in the evening @ VFS or it will be sent to you next day. She was able to pick up the passport the very same day but she said there were people in line since 3:00pm even though they didn't start giving out the passports until 5:30. She also said IR1 visa holders were given priority at VFS so that was nice
They asked basic questions:
how did you meet him?
Where does he live?
Where did he study?
Where did you go for your honeymoon?
Chitchat about the honeymoon place.
There were more but none of them were crazy. Sorry thats as far as I can remember at this time.
They did not ask for any e-mail, phone logs, albums, or pictures of any sort. All she needed was original appointment letter, and passport. She did not have to provide any other document. Not sure if she was given an envelope from VFS or from consulate containing the original birth certificate/marriage certificate that we submitted with our DS-230. I'll let you know later on but you will probably find out soon your self.
Good luck on your interview, wish you both best of luck!!

Hello, does anyone know the steps on obtaining a PCC from the passport issuing office. My wife went to get the pcc from Ahmedabad passport office today. Her passport is only 2 months old so we found out that she only needs the PCC from passport issuing office. right? well anyways she went into the office and the guy at the front desk told her she needs to have an appointment letter. so my question is what appointment letter are they talking about? she took her passport, NOA1, NOA2 and a support letter which i found on VJ. also another question is that i have her DS-230 forms all filled out and signed by her n now i have the forms here in the U.S once NVC generates these forms do they go to india? or if i have her choose me as her agent do i get the forms here in the u.s?
thanks guys for any help...
They are talking about the cover letter that you get with DS-230 form.
You have two choices:
1. Create your own cover letter (see james shortcut in the wiki section) OR
2. Wait for the DS-230 to arrive in the mail.
Obviously, the first one will get you PCC faster but not sure how comfortable you are doing it this way.
DS-230 gets sent to whoever is the choice of agent.

Hello ALL,
WOW, the time has finally come - Interview!!! Even with all the assurances and the paperwork (and then some!!!) that I have sent to my wife, she is nervous and has a lot of anxiety. I just wanted to ease her concerns, by asking the forum, what type of QUESTIONS they ask for CR1 type interviews?
Can someone who went through this process or knows of a previous post/link, please send to me. I really would appreciate any and all feedback. It has been such a LONG LONG Journey and I want to make sure that we are fully prepared.
THANKS TO ALL FOR BEING A GREAT SUPPPORT AND INFO PORTAL!!!! Good day and thanks again in advance. Look forward to your responses.
TIMELINE - Interview in 2nd week of JULY!!!!
Congratulations Panki!!!!! Glad you made it through the RFE's

Hey Loto,
Since your wife is doing the counter collection of the passport, did she pay the courier fee at VFS? Was that optional? It's definitely a small amount but just wanted to know.
Thanks!
-
Personally, I don't think there was any reason for them to ask for bank statements. Usually when you submit I-864 showing your assets, then you have to submit bank statements but in my case I only filed based on income so I don't she needs it. In any case, she'll take it to the interview.
What drives me nuts is that we submitted all of these documents to NVC(some of them original documents!). NVC also confirmed in the appointment letter that they have received these documents. But still VFS and at the time of interview they ask for a copy!!!

Thanks desiboy2k4 and Good luck to your interview in couple of days time Glad to know the VFS and the Medical steps are over for you, excited for the interview, huh ?
You bet I am Excited and nervous!! I'm going to have to go through the your interview questions with my wife to see if she can answer them correctly! We have a week before the interview so I think I'll test her everyday

Thanks guys. Reporting it to Police would be the obvious choice but it also affects relationships and so I may tell him to just to order a replacement card. Yeah, I definitely wouldn't want to get on the bad side of USCIS
