  1. Hopefully I can shed some light on this. We also got this message after DQ and my wife just had her interview last week where they approved her visa.

After you receive the interview date anything you submit to through CEAC will go directly to the consulate. This period of few weeks between receiving interview date and the actual interview date is the golden period where you can submit documents directly to consulate without adding extra time since it allows them to review the documents before the interview.

The message below will appear on the main page but you do not need to contact the consulate.

After you add the documents but before you hit the 'submit' button you should also receive a message that says the documents uploaded now will be sent for review to the consulate and if they have any questions they will contact you.

Don't add the joint sponsor until you see these two messages on CEAC, they didn't appear immediately after DQ - the one on the main page and the one right before you submit.

It is a good idea to provide the maximum amount of information possible.  For joint sponsor we gave:

    -I-864

    -Passport copy

    -Proof of citizenship

-Proof of US domicile (mortgage and insurance bills)

    -3 years tax returns

    -3 years tax transcripts

    -3 years W-2's

They didn't ask her anything related to the joint sponsor during the interview since everything was already uploaded.

Let me know if I can be of any further help.

Were you able to get your Biometrics done in Chennai?

My wife has the Biometrics appointment the day after tomorrow in Chennai. She ended up calling them and they said it could be done at any of the six visa centers. In the online form, she said once she went to the next screen after the one it said it had to be done at Mumbai, it eventually gave the option to make an appointment in Chennai.

  3. Can someone kindly confirm if Biometrics can be done at any of the six Visa Centers in India? My wife tried making the appointment through the usatraveldocs site, but once she selected CR-1 it said biometrics needs to be done at Mumabi.

This would be fine even though Chennai is the closest location for her. However it gave the earliest appointment date of Dec 5 though the interview is on Nov 21.

I've read that biometrics can be done in the other locations as well but want to confirm.

    I got approved.

i was interview by a lady.

she asked me about my husband, how we met, if it was an arranged or love marriage, who arranged it, what are his likes and dislikes, where he works and has he been to india after the wedding, and if he has how many times.

because i had joint sponsor i was asked couple of question related to that.

she also asked me question about my husbands family members.

finally she ended the interview with couple question related to my education in england and what are my plans after getting to USA

and last but not the least i want to thank each and everyone who was there to answer all my query. Thank you all. Thank you

Hi, what did they ask related to joint sponsor?

  5. NVC 'documentarily approved' the I-864 and has sent it to the Mumbai consulate for interview. However there was a note that the consulate officer would decide regarding the income requirement since I was a student the previous year and they suggested adding a joint sponsor.

Since it has already been sent to the consulate, should I add/upload the joint sponsor documents through the NVC site, or just take them to the interview? I am concerned that adding a joint sponsor through the website now might somehow regress the process.

    Thanks in advance.

  6. I recently received notice from NVC that they have 'documentarily approved' the I-864 and are scheduling the interview with the Mumbai consulate. Even though I meet the income requirement they suggested to add a joint sponsor since I was a student with low income in previous tax filings.

While doing the joint sponsor I-864 with my parents we found that in the original one I submitted as the petitioner/primary sponsor, I had  reversed my wife's first and last name in those two boxes.

What should I do about this now that it has been reviewed and approved? I'm afraid it might come back to be an issue later.

  7. I received the message from NVC today that they have approved the I-864 and will schedule the interview. Also received this message:

"xxxxx does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrants for this case. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 for a joint sponsor may be submitted."

On the last three years tax filings submitted, I was a student and my income was below the guideline. Shortly before the sending I-130/CR-1 application I started my career and my income has comfortably met the requirement since December. I included last few months pay stubs, employer letter stating annual income and one year's bank account/401k account statements.

Is it normal in this situation to still receive the determination that the income doesn't meet the threshold?

I guess it'd be best now to add a joint sponsor to be on the safe side. Should I upload the joint sponsor form in the NVC portal same as before and bring a copy to the interview?

    Thanks in advance.
