Any news? I was in your shoes last year. HR gave me an extension after I provided receipt notice, congress person correspondence and case update. Also, I think someone here said it's an automatic extension for renewal. USCIS sent my EAD end of the month after it had expired! I was living cautiously between when my documents expired and when I renewed them! My prayers are up for favorable outcomes for you.

I was able to obtain my receipt number from the congressman's office, which now allowed  me to check the status of my case online. I promptly shared this information with our HR department and informed them that the congressman's office is currently in the process of obtaining the official receipt notice.

However, they are insisting that I provide the receipt notice within the next 5 days. They have made it clear that failure to do so may result in termination from my position.

  2. Hey everyone, just wanted to update you on the progress of my work permit renewal. I finally received my receipt number through my congressman's office, however, I still haven't received the receipt notice in the mail. My work permit has expired now and my job is insisting that I provide them with the physical receipt notice as the online case status information is not sufficient. USCIS has refused to email the notice to me and my request for an infopass appointment was denied. I also submitted a service request to have the notice resent and was told to expect to hear from USCIS by yesterday, but I haven't received anything yet. My job has given me a deadline of 5 days to provide them with the receipt notice, otherwise, I may face termination. Is there any other way I can obtain the receipt notice?

Have you received the receipt notices yet? If not i would say reach out to your senator and congress again. My congress person helped me to get the receipt notices from the USCIS. or other option is you can do FOIA request.

I would say do not send another application just yet.

I will make another attempt to call the Congressman's office and see if they can provide any assistance. Additionally, I'm ill consider  filing a FOIA request to gather more information.

On another note, if you don't mind me asking, how long did it take you to finally receive your receipt notice? I'm just trying to gauge the timeline and manage my expectations.

    Thank you.

  4. Hey everyone, I hope you're all doing well. It's been more than 4 months now since I submitted my renewal application for I-765 & I-131. I included the required documents along with receipt notices from previous applications to the Vermont service center.

Unfortunately, getting any information from USCIS through the phone has proven to be quite challenging. In my attempt to seek updates, I sent an inquiry letter to the Humanitarian Division Vermont center, as well as reached out to the Congressperson office and the ombudsman office three weeks ago. However, I haven't received any response yet.

I'm feeling quite worried as my work permit is set to expire in January 2024. I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions on what my next steps should be. Or should I just go ahead and submit another application?

Thank you all in advance for your support and understanding.

I did travel to Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands which is a United States Territory, travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands does not require a passport for U.S. citizens arriving from Puerto Rico or the U.S. mainland. So entering was easy but leaving, we have to go through CBP, I was traveling with us citizen and she only have to show her driving license and when I did the same the officer said that I can't do that since I am not a us citizen, So I have to show them my passport, advance parole card and receipt notice that my AOS is pending.  I know this is not helpful but I am sharing my exp.

Just to confirm, were you able to return to the US with your passport?
