  1. Rachel, when's your flight? better bring a live lobster. remember our plan to breed a fil-am lobster too! :P

    Rachel leaves Philippines Friday, Dec. 5th, Northwest airlines, POE Detroit where I will fly there to meet her, then we will go to Ohio for a week to visit my son before coming back here to Maine.

    We decided to wait a year before having baby fil-am lobster. hehehe

    We are a little unsure if she will have to pay the travel tax. It might already be included in her ticket. I got the ticket here in the states from my travel agent. The ticket states:

    "THIS PRICE INCLUDES AIRFARE, TAX, AGENT FEES AND SECURITY FEES"

    so if anyone else has flown NWA, could you let me know if she still has to pay the travel tax.

    I know she still has to pay the P750 terminal fee.

    Congrats to everyone who have received their visa's. and for those waiting, it will come at the right time.

  2. ^^Oh, you're from barangay Pio del Pilar... my husband and I know a family from that barangay (actually, di na rin iba turingan namin)...

    I'm originally from barangay Olympia we just recently moved here in cavite though I visit Makati sometimes like pag may nilalakad... Na-curious lang ako, I thought I know you :)

    I used a program called " super yahoo messenger archive decoder " You can search it on google. It can convert all of your chats to text in about a minute, it cost a little, but it did save alot of time

  3. I have dialed the embassy number ( 011-632-301-2000 ) 100 times I think in the past couple weeks and only gotten thru a few times.

    When the phone is silent, just either means all international lines are busy, or the Embassy is getting too many calls to answer with their automated system.

    Just keep hitting the re-dial button. I tryed calling the other night for about and hour, non stop re-dialing and still never got thru, then another time only dialed once (got lucky)

  4. :dance: :dance: After 423 days in our visa journey, our visa has been APPROVED. :dance: :dance:

    Rachel seemed to have a good experience with the pre-scanner and the CO. They were nice with her and she was done by 11:00am. and received only the pink slip. Now we will just wait for the visa delivery. She will post her experience here later.

    (L)(F)I also wish you a very "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" my sweetheart (L)(F) This has been a great gift to us to finish this part of our journey.

    Thanks to everyone for their prayers and thoughts.

  5. and for those that don't know, crack sites (sites to get the serial number) frequently leave something else on your computer.....so avoid them and go the legal route.

    sorry, I didn't know I violated something and am not trying to sell anything, found the site to decode yahoo archives and thought I would pass it on to help those needing to print chat logs for their interviews,,especially those who have hundreds like I did , I wasn't suggesting anyone get the crack, just made a statement with a laugh! sorry for trying to help, Good bye

  6. For anyone who has finished TB treatment at SLEC.

    Rachel will finish her TB medical treatment and final xray July 31, 2008. I want to plan to be there for her interview. but, SLEC isn't too specific about any dates when medical will be released and interview scheduled. She did 2 more sputum test last week, and will do another sputum culture this June. I am assuming the results should be back before July 31st.

    If someone has finished their TB treatment. could you give us some kind of timeline after treatment to interview? It is important for me to schedule a flight in advance and take the time off work to be there for her interview. Kind of a hit or miss situation i know, but want to try being there for the interview.

    Thanks in advance,

    James and Rachel

  7. She would still have to be treated with inactive TB before she is cleared to come to US.

    So in other words, after waiting the 10 weeks for the results, she will have to wait even more time to be treated, whether she has inactive or active TB? I thought that if she had inactive TB, she would get immediate clearance and be treated in the US??????

    My wife showed a spot on her xray. They had her do a sputum test. Waited 6 weeks for results which came back positive for inactive TB. She started treatment the next day. so for us, 6 months of treatment (even if inactive). Now just 3 months left. She just had her second round of sputum culture that came back negative this time. but, still more waiting. Probably not a good idea to fly in an airplane with any kind of TB. (many people in a confined place is just too risky). This is just our experience.

    James

  8. So if she has TB but it is inactive, then she is cleared to come to the US? But does she need to take medicine? What exactly does "inactive" TB mean?

    She would still have to be treated with inactive TB before she is cleared to come to US.

    In inactive (latent) TB, TB bacteria are alive but inactive in the body. The body builds walls around these bacteria, the way a scab forms over a cut. TB bacteria can stay alive inside these walls for years.

    A person with inactive TB can develop active TB if they do not receive treatment (the lifetime risk is 1 in 10).

    People with inactive TB:

    * Have no symptoms

    * Do not feel sick

    * Cannot spread TB to others

    * Have a positive (reactive) skin test

    * Can develop active TB

    In active TB (TB disease), TB bacteria become active and multiply. Active TB is very serious, causing permanent damage and even death. A person with active TB can spread TB to others.

    People with active TB may:

    * Have a bad cough longer than 3 weeks

    * Have pain in the chest

    * Cough up blood and sputum

    * Feel weak or tired

    * Lose appetite and weight

    * Have chills, fever or sweat at night

  9. If her sputum test comes back to be negative, I believe slec will re-schedule the interview within a week or 2 after the results are back. My wife Rachel was notified 6 weeks after the samples were taken, only to find out she was positive with the culture. she has gone through 3 months of treatment now and has just got her results from her second round of sputum culture and now is negative for the TB infection. next week (May 2) She has another x-ray and end of May does another sputum test. Now only 3 months more of treatment.

    Good Luck with your results and I hope for you, are negative, in a positive way

  10. I agree with Zen Den, sounds like a scam. My opinion, most filipina's speak pretty English and should have some sort of an ID already. I know the some Nigerians use this same tactic, (wanting to send money to some other name) I use to play with them online at times I was bored. Sorry to hear about your previous engagement, but after that,, I'de be walking on glass. First rule of thumb is "never send money to someone you haven't met in person" How could you get to know someone who can't speak or write English?.. just my opinion. Jim

  11. I would follow Samby's advice, I am not sure if slec will do an exam without an appointment letter, but I would go there and ask. I do know, if they see anything suspicious in her xray, she will have to do a sputum test. Also make sure she brings all of her prior medical records. Good Luck,, James

  12. thanks for the replies, Im gonna try to get her interview as soon as I can. Nobody answers SLEC when I call, does anyone know if they really always have time for a walk in appointment. Thats what I was told by the lady at the embassy but it seems strange not to make an appointment.

    Also I was worried because her brother had TB when she was 11. If anything its latent and not contagious, AKA class B not A. If there is a chance of that does B class TB stop someone from entering the U.S since its not contagious or harmfull too her? Im probably just worying too much and asking to many questions but thanks for your responses.

    If a sputum culture is positive, Slec will have her do 6 months of treatment for TB before she can get an interview. My wife had the TB infection (inactive) not the contagious type, and still has to do the treatment. if you have concerns, I would suggest having a test right away and if she is positive, then she can be taking the medicines while your waiting the visa process. There are no additional charges for the treatment, (at least not at this time) thru slec. but that could change like everything else has.

    Good Luck and I hope all will be fine.

  13. I just got my interview date and now have a few questions about the medical.

    1. They told me it should be in Manila not Cebu but I didnt understand if they advise against Cebu or its just not allowed at all.

    2. I was also told to make the medical be one week before the interview and no longer than 2 weeks, but ive heard of people doing early medicals. If possible I would like to do an early medical because if they do a culture test for TB it takes up to 6 weeks to get the results which would mean I would miss my interview. Which leads to my third question

    3. Under what circumstances would they do a sputum test of that kind. I ask cause my fiance had pnumonia before and may show scars on her xray do that. Also im concerned that when she was about 11 her brother got TB. Although she never got sick, TB usually comes in its latent form and I was concerned if it is possible she could have it.

    If you have to do sputum test, SLEC will reschedule your interview at USEM. You should bring all your previous medical records and x-ray for comparison. anything they see suspicious in your x-ray will cause them to do a sputum test. good luck, Jim

  14. First thing you need to do is go to the embassy and get a notarized affidavit in lieu of certificate of legal capacity to contract marriage for American citizen. You will need to bring any divorce decree's of previous marriage's. then you can go to her province and apply for marriage license at her local city hall. During your 10 day wait you can make all your arrangements. for wedding. Either church or civil. good luck, James

  15. My fiancee was told by St. Lukes that there was a problem with her xray and that she had to come back in 3 days for a phlem or saliva test. When I asked her what they said they found in her xray, she did not know as this is all they told her.

    She went and saw a Doctor in Manila and he prescribed medicine for her to take and said it will clear it up. My problem is she was never told what was wrong in her xray (no specifics) and so I am wondering what he prescribed. She acted like he does this often and was confident.

    Question 1: Has anyone else had the same issue? I am searching in VJ for this and took time out to send this. WHat was your end result?

    Q2: Her next Medical is this Monday 3/3. Her scheduled interview is Wednesday the 5th. Concern is are they going to reschedule her interview now or wait until her follow up confirms their findings or clears her? If they do re-schedule do we go back into a wait list for two-three or more months?

    Thanks for answering all my threads.

    If they require her to do a sputum test, she will get the results of the first 2 (smear and pulmonary) within a few days after she supplies the samples. The TB culture will take 6 to 8 weeks to get the result. Then if found positive for TB, she will have to take 6 months worth of medications before she can get her visa interview. I am curious as to the medicine the doctor gave her.

    Tb is not nothing to fool with. Better to not take a medicine to hide the fact she might have it. TB is curable, just takes time.

    My wife has been going through the same thing, she is now in the second phase of test. (another sputum, done 1 month after treatment started)

    St. Luke's will reschedule her interview after the results are back and extend the approved visa petition if necessary.

    good luck, I hope her test all come out negative. let us know her results, plenty of people here that can help. Feel free to IM me if you need more answers.

  16. My wife experience the same thing. First day of medical was Dec. 21, 2007. First, Doctor saw a suspect spot in the x-ray.(only 1 x-ray taken) A few days later she had to do sputum test. They take samples of her phlegm 3 consecutive days. The results for the first 2 only take a few days to come back. The 3rd is the TB culture. That will take 6 weeks to get the results for that. My wifes results were negative for the first 2, and unfortunately was positive for TB infection on the 3rd. SLEC started her treatment that same day. She has to go to SLEC everyday now for the treatment, except weekends they give her meds. to take at home since they are closed. After 1 month of treatment, they do another sputum test to make sure the meds. are working. She is doing the Quadtab everyday.(4 meds. in 1 tablet) Her next sputum test will be this thursday, Feb. 21, 2008. and we pray she will be negative this time. However, she will still need to finish the full 6 months of treatment before she can be rescheduled for her interview. There are no extra charges for the test or the meds. Apparently this might be one reason the cost of medical went up a few months back.

    The best thing you can to is support her and hope her test come back negative.

    Feel free to IM me, we all need support during this time and keep us informed. It will be a great help for others going through the same thing.

  17. Hello Jim, I am so sorry to here the bad news about Rachel. I think it would be a great idea for you to go visit your asawa now.

    Pushbrk or Yu&Dan can probably answer your question about how the delay will effect your approved visa application.

    Thanks dbears for the links and thanks to everyone else for your concerns.

    Apparently SLEC will notify USEM to get the extention of our visa application due to this medical issue, but any other advice is greatly appreciated. As we all know, the system is full of mis-information. I will make sure Rachel checks on this everyday on her visits to SLEC for her treatments.

    I am not sure if or when I can get back to Phils. due to this unexpected set back, and being able to take the time off work, but will work on that. In the mean time, we will just be patient once again. A 6 month delay is worth a lifetime of happiness.

    Thanks again to all, And "Go Patriots"

  18. I'm confused also!

    How can her K3 expire Feb 22 when she had interview Jan 9 08 and how did she get a K3 or any visa before final medical approval?

    Our K3 (NOA2 129f) approval notice was valid from 10/23/07 to 02/22/08, interview was suppose to be January 9, 2008. Interview was postponed due to something in the x-ray at medical and had to undergo the sputum test, so the K3 noa2 approval will not be valid in a couple weeks. Medical failed, so interview,, no visa.

    I don't know how else to explain it.

    Rachel was 2 out of 3 negative on the sputum test, also the pulmonary test was negative, only the 3rd culture was seen as positive for TB and she won't be re-scheduled for her interview until she does the treatment.(approx 6 months of it) It was also my understanding from previous post, that 2/3 negative was ok.

    I also thought it was strange that the nurse talked to me on Rachel's phone to try to explain the results to me. If TB is an air born disease, wouldn't the nurse catch that talking in to her phone so close? Lately it seems there have been allot more post about the sputum test and I am beginning to think that St.Luke is infected with TB, and the air born particles are drifting into the test dishes that are used to collect the sputum. In the time I have known Rachel,(over 18 months) she has never been sick or has shown any symptoms.

    I guess our journey will take a new path. in the wrong direction. I assume I will have to go back to USCIS and have our I-130 transfered to NVC and pursue the CR1 while waiting for the treatment to be finished. I will appreciate any info or help from anyone as to what we need to do from here. This has truly been an unexpected twist to our journey to be together.

    Thank you all for your support.

  19. hello fellow VJ members,

    My Rachel went for her medical today after waiting 6 weeks for her sputum test results. The test came back positive for TB. (bear in mind, she had 2 neg. result ant 1 pos. result) What a shock for the both of us. We Married last March and has almost been a year now waiting to be united again, and now , an unexpected turn in our lives.

    Rachel has been the most honest and pure filapina (or even American woman) I ever met. and not to brag, but I have been her faithful husband she could ask for, and I am still here to support her.

    I am sitting here stilll devistated with tears that this could happen.

    I am undecided on what to do next. Plus understand I am not thinking too straight right now., so please excuse my post in advance.

    My thoughts....I should fly there soon to console her, Problem is my passport expires in July. Now is Febuary already. there is a 6 month thing where I can't travel within 6 months of exeperation. Also,will I already have been exposed to TB? I am sure I was already vaccinated against it ,, but still.. not sure. So, first I better renew my passport.

    I am sending her today for a second opinion, hopefully this will help.,

    thank you to beng , and cherry (and others I forgot,,sorry,) for being her friend during your interviews, and please help in supporting her in this time of need.

    couple more questions, should I abandon the k3 now and persue the CR1, since the treatment will take 6 months?. My K3 will expire Feb. 22,

    just confused right now and don't know what to do,, will post back later
