it used to for me too, i read so much info ALL the time!! it really confused me. but if you stop and look at it, its all do-able. unless you have a complicated case i dont see why you need a lawyer.

Oh geez i feel like a geek! I didnt realize this was a k-1 k-3 filers preferred topic sorry
Just wanted to keep everyone up to date, we filed our I-130, G325A's and all the other doc's at the consulate in Amsterdam!
Quick, painless and easy going. We were told it could take up to 12 weeks but the CO said probably less than that since we were so 'well prepared' WHEW!
Onto the next steps!
Everyone is welcome ofcourse!!! Sounds like you will be done pretty soon!
-
there really doesnt have to be much confusion, the website is pretty clear:
18-64 years
DTP (Diphteria, Tetanus and Polio) --> get it from the pharmacy and go to your dr BEFORE the appointment with the Embassy's dr! Then get refunded.
BMR (Mumps (Bof), Measles and Rubella) --> if born after 1956 (if administered before 12 months of age, repeat dose)
Marieke....your flashing cupcakes are making me hungry...LOL!haha!

This is the email address: ImmigrantVisasAms@state.gov
Marieke, the one I called international was the one that has all those languages on there. I wasnt sure if I could only do that one and not have my original so thought I'll order both. Its 11 euros and maybe in the future in the USA I need it. If not..then at least no delays in the process cuz of that
Jeanine
okay great, yeah i alreayd had a BC. So yeah maybe its best to go ahead and order both so you have one for in the states!
-
LOL..you are so right Marieke....even Pat's on here from his house...LOL!
Jeanine, do you still have the email address for the consulate?
i emailed with this lady: WyattVR@state.gov she was really friendly and quick!
-
i got my birth cert on one paper. i didnt get an international one, mine had it in dutch french english and german anyways. Hmm.. you should look into that. might save you money

If Patrick is born before 1974 he will have the same problem I have, no records of vaccinations anymore.
I'm from 1964 and will need all vaccinations redone.
Marieke, do you still have a list of all vaccinations needed?
I will have them done at my 'huisarts'
Need to spread my costs over the coming months. So I was thinking to do them in a month or two, if I can find out which ones I need .
http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/Amst...-Netherland.htm check here. I might have still some papers at home, from what i got from the embassy. I'll check later.
-
maybe he can get it from his dr? i doubt that will be a problem. I never thought i would find those records. Its from when i was born! Worst case he might have to do all the vacc's. (http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/Amsterdam-vacc-Netherland.htm)

Thanks Marieke! I'll head for your blog next....I do have a couple more questions though....
Did they even look at your vaccination records? And was the DPT shot the only one they "require"? And last one for now...hehe...did you have to have an xray taken?
The dr did yes. Or his assistent. I came in and she asked for all the papers. She saw that my dr marked DTP with the recent date on my vaccine card and said; oh i see you had this done, perfect! Have a seat!
=) So easy. She sent me to the xray place first as they were running late. That was easy too. Waited for 15 mins or so and had the xray, paid 50 euros and on my way back to the dr. Then was seen to straight away. Took blood, did little tests, asked questions and paid. It was weird, my xray appointments was at noon, but i was so fast that i arrived and the train station at noon...
Really its no hassle. Once you send back packet 3 things get easy. a little stress alwasys for dr's results and an interview but not much can go wrong.
EDIT: its okay liz, i dont mind answering.

And Dutchie moving to near Texas...Oklahoma LOL. Must be the Southwestern charm taking us by storm eh!
Hey, if you need jobs and want to stay relatively close, you could do worse than to look at Tulsa. We're 6 hours drive North of Dallas. Our stats say we get 113% of the national average wage with only 75% of the national average living costs. It's a great place to be and unemployment is currently only at 2% with a boatload of jobs available. I guess no one likes Oklahoma, but it really is great living. no different from how I experienced Dallas, really.
We recently drove through OK to get to Wichita, KS. Its really pretty to me, all that space! We made some great photo's. But eventhough Texas is so big and empty too, i think i like it more. But its what you know, what you are used to.
We are applying at the big cities here in Texas, but also Portland, OR, some suburbs 30 mins from Chicago and some places on the east coast. Im sad, excited and nervous! March 6th is the closing date for people who want to resign. Last i heard 40 people did, but we need 220... As for me, i need 6 secretaries to resign for me to keep my job. Plus i doubt i will be eligable for unemployment as they can just 'not extend my contract'. Welcome to Texas!! Oh and hurricane season starts in 3 months!

Morning all...TGIF!!
ArubaDolphin....Congrats on your interview date!!!! Keep us posted please!!!
Marieke...would you be willing to share the experience you had at your interview in Amsterdam? And also, what was needed for Packet 3? Was there a Packet 4 for that consulate?
Peet - Hope your feeling better!!!
Jeanine - How about you? Doing ok??
Anyone heard from Nikki lately?
I put a link of my blog in the post above. Regarding Packet 3: this packet contains forms you need to fill in and sent back to the embassy. I believe they are also available online but you need to make sure they are the right date.
DS-230 (Part I)
DS-156 (2x)
DS-156k (not signed) --> you sign it at the embassy
Checklist (DS-2001), to be sent back when all requirements are met
Above documents need to be completed and sent back to Consulate asap!
DS2000, Public Charge Evidence
I-134, Affadavit of Support
Vaccination requirements
Photo instructions
To obtain an interview, you return DS-230 Part I and DS-2001.
Packet 4:
When i recieved Packet 4 it gave me the phone numbers and a map of Dr. Schulte and of the Jan van Goyen Clinic in Amsterdam. You need to first call the dr. and then the clinic. So i got my appointments and filled in part of the forms (DS-2053 DS-3024 DS-3025 DS-3026) that were in the packet too. Its not much and they explain it well, just your info and passport number. And last but not LEAST: Packet 4 also contains your interview date!!!
Note: check with your own dr if he can do the DTP shots for you. Its much cheaper or free if your insurance covers it! I went and bought it at the pharmacy (19,50 euros) and went to my dr and done! insurance covered it.
Let me know if you have more Q's!
-
Hey hey...yup we're doing ok!!
I didnt hear from Nikki.
Im also curious of what we can prepare for the next step now, even tho we didnt receive NOA2...Marieke is our help lol. The only one who went through most of the process already.
Marieke did you get ur AP already? I think i saw in your timeline that you filed for that right? When can you file for that? Is it possible to do that as soon as i enter the US on my K1 visa or do i have to wait until we are married? My grandma isnt doing so good and is in a nursing home, but if anything happens at home i want to be able to come back. But i know you can only enter the US one time with a K1 visa....
Its so nice we all stay in touch here!
Jeanine
I am so sorry guys! I had mardi gras here in Galveston! it was so great to see everybody in the party mode! the island really needed it!!
Okay to answer some Q's!
I need to amend my timeline. I did file for AP in case my greencard wouldnt arrive on time for my flight in Dec. I had booked a flight in may and was waiting for my GC still at the time. It all worked out and i believe i cancelled it. When i get home i can find the paperwork. i think you have to wait till you get married. then you file AOS EAD and AP. $$$!!!
My interview... so easy! On my blog i tell a little: http://from-marieke-to-yall.blogspot.com/2...01_archive.html All i can say is make sure they have you sign all the papers. And eventhough i booked the flight before i had my interview (big no-no) i do not reccomend it. Its stressy. And too risky.
I am sorry to hear about your grandma. I know what you mean. My grandad is 93 and not doing to good. Its one of those things, if something happens, should i go back? Would you?

In the meanwhile the OP has not returned....

dont worry about it, its VERY random! i am trying to find a thread that was started by someone who used to work for USCIS and then started petitioning, he had some interesting thigns to tell us!

The post is reminscent of some posts from other african men who claimed their wifes were mentally ill after getting here to the US. Is this a repeat of the same post???
The first thing that came to my mind was: i have read this before! I had to check the date! Im not sure if its only African men though.

all women are psycho.

NEVER lie, of course they will find out! Just talk to your doctor, have him/her write you a letter stating you are not a danger to society. The Embassy doctor can always call your doctor too. There are ways, maybe it takes a little longer becasue its not 'straight forward' case.
But im no expert

This has to be my fav!

Galveston TX : Salsa's TexMex
DiBella's Italian (caught fire last monday after being open for just a month after hurricane Ike...)
Houston : Barnaby's: 4 locations, delicious sandwiches!
Cadillac Bar Mexican
I like the breakfast toaster of Sonic a lot!
-
I live in Galveston myself and can tell you first hand that hurricanes are no joke. I am about to lose my job. Ike has long gone and we are left with the BS! Houston is the closest city to us and i have grown to absolutely love it! Hermann Park, the new Discovery Green, Montrose, Galleria... all pretty and cute places. Dallas i love too, we visit there abourt 3 times year.
Austin... well of course Austin is the best city! 'Live Music Capitol of the World" right?! Keep Austin Weird! Its in the beautiful Hill Country, few hours from Dallas, few hours from San An and an hour from New Braunfels and its rivers... Nightlife is great; SXSW, 6th street...
I think if you are a city girl and you want a little Texas (Food, Countryside, Cars) and a little European taste (public transportation, parks, bars, liberals) you will love Austin!
Good Luck!

Sorry to hear about your previous relationship. No one deserves that.
I'm sure you do know him well, and in all likelihood you'll get along great in person. I knew someone once for about seven months before meeting her in person, and she was quite different from what I expected. She had hidden some aspects of her personality from me.
I see marriage as a huge decision that should never be taken lightly, so please, meet each other, and spend some time together, before you take any more steps. You are lucky enough that you live relatively close to each other (compared to many of us on VJ), and either of you can fairly easily visit the other. Take advantage of that.
Totally agree. You will be together forever right? A few trips to Canada in the next few months wont hurt! You can start getting things ready now and file in 6months. Collect as much as you can, like flight confirmations, reciepts, photos together (!) and all the other BS they need.
You'll be fine. Calm down on the research for a while and get on those airline websites!
Any Dutch/American couples??
in Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)

yeah there were moment where i wanted to pull my hair out, or thomas' (..wait. he doesnt have hair! )! its a lot of reading and research, but those 'touches' and NOA's keep you sharp! Just prepare, always try to be one step ahead so it wont cause any stress when time comes. And above all: talk to people who went through the same process in the same country!
