  1. Congrats Empress!!! Per a rep at the NVC today; we did not get scheduled for an August interview and the scheduling for August has been done. Scheduling for Sep 07 will start the 2nd week of August. So I should call back the 3rd week in August for a status. This timframe will put us at the end of the 8 weeks the NVC state I should have received additional instructions when our case was completed on Jun 25.:wacko:

  2. Well my senator's secretary called yesterday and referred me to someone in another senator's office. She also said I should call her back tomorrow to update her. The gentleman she referred seems really eager to help. I just faxed him a letter and he said he wil jump on it asap (now).

The lady who I spoke with at my congressman's office said they would email the embassy last week. She told me they usually get a response within a week. I'm going to wait until Friday to call for an update if she doesn't call before then.

I'll def let you all know how things go.

Hopefully this will get the process moving again. I am pulling for you girl and praying that they get it resolved soon. :)

    All,

I have not got an interview date yet. I spoke with a rep at the NVC on Monday night and was told that interviews were still being scheduled for the month of August and I should check back on Friday. So we are still waiting

  3. I called the NVC hotline today and heard that our case was completed on July 13th...I am so excited.

Anna - it seems that they do update the system as they have new info on the cases.

Jenice - no word from them yet?

    I'll keep you posted..

Congrats Tamieka on your case being completed!! Was the automatic system update today? Did it say the same spill that I got? I spoke with a rep yesterday afternoon and he stated appointments were still being scheduled for August. This would be completed on Monday and I could call back on Tuesday to see if I was in th the batch that got scheduled. My payers are for you to also get scheduled since your case was completed before the cut off time. Honestly how many applicants could actually be at this point for scheduling in Kingston.

It would be so nice if some one from VJ is in Kingston at the same time as my interview. David's job has him so busy so I have decide to only spend a couple of nights Jamaica if the interview is before August 27, 2007. I had planned on staying 7-10 days so we can visit his family that live closer to the Mobay area. My hubby office is in Kingston but he lives in Portmore area. I will probably stay at the Hilton. We stayed there for our honeymoon and my girlfriend and I stay there during my 1st visit to Kingston. It is not far from the Embassy and I entertain myself if David have to work really long hours.

  4. I know the NVC said they would start scheduling the interviews in June. Has anyone been given an interview that was scheduled by the NVC?

I'm gonna try to get them to schedule mine if that's the case because they are clearly skipping over people (like me) who have been waiting since January.

I have been waiting for my interview to get scheduled by the NVC. The cse was completed on Jun 25. Per the reps I have spoken with interviews for August will be scheduled the 2nd week in July. This week!!! I have tried to call the NVC today but all the lines were busy. I am praying that we get our interview date this week. I think I will be the 1st person on VJ that is getting interviewed at the Kingston embasy that is under this new process with the NVC now scheduling the appt.

  5. I called the NVC today and got the same scripted response I got Jun 26--My case has been completed the next step is for the NVC to scheduled the interview. All the interview for July had been field apptmnts for August would be scheduled starting the 2nd week in July..the NVC can not ensure my case will be in the batch of interview scheduled it depends on availability. :crying::crying: I am so ready for this to be over with. I was feeling sure I would know something this week but after listening to the robot that answer the phone at the NVC you can never tell. With God's grace tomorrow morning the automatic system will be updated stating I got my interview date. I will keep you posted

  6. Guys.. :help: Is there anyone pursuing a IR1/CR1 and the NVC has scheduled your interview in the last couple of weeks; :help: can you please tell me how long it took from when the case was completed at the NVC before you got your interview date. Did you have to wait to get the letter before you knew the date? Was the automatic voice system ever updated with this status?

Monday will be exactly two weeks since the NVC completed my case and I have not heard anything :crying: :crying

    Jenice

    Jenice,

:help: When you found out the date that your case was completed, did you hear it on the automated voice response system or from a rep? I am still waiting to hear if our case was completed as I am hoping that it will get in the batch for interviews in August.

Thanks for all your help and I hope you hear something soon.

    Tamieka

    Tamieka,

The automatic voice system was updated to said....you case was completed on Jun 25th please allow 8 weeks from this date for further instruction. If it has been more than 8 weeks then press 2. I then called the NVC on Jun 26 and was told that all the interviews for July was gone and interviews for August would not start to be scheduled until the 2nd week of July. I am calling over there today. I just need to find some time.

  7. Hello All..??? about the require shots for the medical. My spouse is an policeman and he is pretty sure the basic requirement to join the force require him to get these shots prior to join the JPF. But that was many years ago and he does not have any documentation of this. He thinks he may be able to get some type of documentation from the Minister of health. I have asked him to check when some of his friends that migrate to the US and were former policemen but as of yet has has not done that. So I thought I would just see if any of you may have any insight on this.

Per the rep all the interiews for July for the Kingston embassy was scheduled the 2nd week in June so I will not be getting a July interview date :( . Interviews for August will start being schedule the 2nd week in July so I can call back by the 3rd week in July to see if David got an August date. I am still waiting on a response to my email to the NVC. I will also call the NVC at least once a week until I am given an interview date.

  10. Alll,

My case was completed at the NVC on yesterday :dancing::dancing: . I sent the NVC an email on Saturday requesting status and I been trying to call them today. All of the lines are busy. I find that the reps in the morning are so much more helpful than the ones at nights. I really just want to know my interview date or an ETA for scheduling the interview. Will update you as soon as I get more info.

  11. Guys,

My husband, David, has the megaphone. The battery some times stays charged for 60+ minutes then other times it goes in 15-20 minutes. So we supplement out communication needs with the Sprint International Calling Card. You can pick up a card at CVS Pharmacy. U are able to recharge via a toll free # or back at the CVS store. If you recharge at CVS you get 10% more minutes. The rates are a little bit under .15 per min with no connection fee. This rate is for all # cell or landlines. Recharging a $20 card at CVS give you 146 minutes. In the six month I have use the card the only time I had a problem connecting was during mother day weekend. The connection is better than when I am calling from my home line directly. The best part if I call David and his VM picks up before I can hang up I am not charge a minute if I hang up immediately. You can not get that with any calling card, cell phone or land line plan!!! I have the card program in my cell with speed dial.

I also has BellSouth now AT&T int'l plan on my home phone where I get .20 per minute to most numbers in Jamaica. I don't pay anything for the plan as long as I spend at least $12 on int'l which is very easy. Not sure but for some reason David cell phone does not register at a cell phone.

I can said the mega phone has reduce my long distance from $350- $400 per month to about $100. 80% of our calls are done via the megaphone. David works in Kingston but his job has him a lot of the time all over the island. For the most part he is able to use it. The biggest challenge is the battery. He has purchase several car chargers and none has work. He was here in USA last week and we could not find a charger to work. So we try to talk before David leave home, charged the phone up, talk in short interval thru the day and then talk at night.

I can say before I went with Sprint I tried multiple on line cards and with calls not connecting but minutes were being charged. Here is the kicker I have worked for Sprint for 6 + years and never once through it would be the best deal. One of David's friend that now live here in the USA was asking me if I could get a discount on Sprint card becuse that was the best way to call Jamaica. Image that!!!!! I don't get any additional discount but he was right!!

  12. Thanks Jax but I'm looking for interviews that was schedule directly w/NVC. It doesn't necessary have to be thru Kingston. Anyone else?

    Nyseness,

I am waiting on the NVC to scheduled my appointment under this new process. The NVC recieved the marriage lisence, birth certificate and police certificate on June 15, 2007. So I am praying my case is completed now and our interview will be scheduled shortly. But I also would love to hear from anyone that interview was scheduled by the NVC

  13. Hello All,

I am so grateful that this forum is available. Currently my husband's case is at the NVC and a representative has just advised me that they are requesting that we send the DS 230 part II, orig. marriage and birth certificate and police records to the NVC. On the site, it says that all this information should be gathered for the interview.

Has anyone heard that the NVC is now scheduling the interview for the US Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica? Apparently the rules have recently changed. I am just worried about how much longer I have to be away from my husbanc.

Thank you for all your help. :help:

The process has changed. I submitted the DS 230 and it was place on hold until the additional info, marriage license, birth certificate and police certificate, is sent to the NVC. Based on the info I was given at the NVC, once this info is received the interview will be scheduled at the NVC for the Kingston Embassy. I also questioned the rep as to why the info on the website has not been update to reflect these new changes. The rep provided me with a number I could call in Washington, DC to make a complaint. In additional I email my concerns to the NVC but got the response that the process has change and in order for my file to move I would need to provide the additional info.

I overnight this info to the NVC on yesterday. The file was put on hold on June 2 so I lost about 7 business days with this new change. I will let you know how long it takes to get my interview scheduled with this new process.

  15. All,

I just found out my case is on hold pending police certificate, birth certificate and marriage license. I use James' shortcut and sent in the DS230 along with a copy of the bio page from my spouse passport; once the automatic line indicate the form had been generated. So the NVC actually received my DS-230 before I even gotten the package in the mail. Per the NVC rep the process just change and now for my country Jamaica all this info must be mail to the NVC before the package will be complete. By the way I am pursuing the IR1/CR1 process. I have attached the link that the NVC will send you. From that link you select the country your spouse/fiancé is from and you then get instruction based on that country.

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1335.html

(you click on Applicant Document process and from there you can select your country)

Here is my problem...I just when out to this link and reviewed step by step the process and per the NVC website for Jamaica I still only need to send the DS-230 and bio page. Naturally I call back over to the NVC and ask the rep to explain if the process has changed why have the instructions not been updated. Keep in mind the NVC does not send you the package but send you a link to go to their website. The rep could not answer however she did provide me a number to call in Washington, DC to voice my concerns. I have also sent an email to the NVC inquire for additional clarification. My hope is my case was place on hold in error.

The only info we don't have at this time is the police certificate but my husband will be in the US for a short vacation starting June 8; so he will be able to bring that with him then. Looks like I will be losing at least 2 weeks. :crying::crying:

I was also told that now instead of the embassy in Kingston scheduling the interview; this will now be done by the NVC from the US. So it is possible that may cut down on some time.:dance:

The fact that I will be seeing my hubby in just a little bit ... 7 day and about 10 hours.. I refuse to let this get me down :D:D

  16. Hi,

My DS-230 was enter into the system on May 22, 2007. Based on other time lines on VJC..my NVC case should be completed in the next week or so. I need the link to track my package leaving NVC for the Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica. How soon should I expect to get the tracking info once the case is complete. Several weeks ago I found a thread that had all this info but now I can not seem to locate it. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

  17. DS-230

After your DS-3032 is received by NVC, the IV (Immigrant Visa) fee bill will be generated. Unfortunately, because NVC generates an apparently random transaction number and puts it after the case number in the barcode on the IV fee bill, it is not possible to send in the IV fee bill as soon as NVC generates it -- you will have to use the one NVC sends you. Once you do receive it and send in the fee, NVC will eventually generate the DS-230 -- the actual immigrant visa application itself. As soon as you find out that the DS-230 has been generated, you should send in the copy you already have prepared.

Well before your DS-230 is generated, your spouse should download, fill out, and sign the downloadable version of the DS-230 (available by clicking HERE). (Generally, your spouse will only need to fill out and sign part I because he or she will be sent part II by the embassy when the interview appointment is given. However, if your spouse is from Canada, the Philippines, China, an African country, or two or three other countries for which NVC arranges the interview, your spouse may have to fill out -- but not sign -- part II. This DS-230 shortcut is primarily designed for those who only have to send in a DS-230 Part I. You should find out from a VJ member whose spouse is from the same country as yours exactly what is required.)

You will need to attach the coversheet to the completed DS-230 Part I before sending it in. Download the MS Word copy of the DS-230 Part I coversheet (available by clicking HERE ). Change the XXX1234567890 at the bottom to your case number, then go generate the barcode at http://www.idautomation.com/java/linearservlet.html.

To generate the barcode and put it in the sample coversheet, type in the case number under "Data to encode." Under "Barcode symbology," select CODE 39. Select "No" for the "Add check digit," "Add check digit to text," and "Show text below barcode" options. Change the "X dimension" (bar width) to 0.07 and the "Barcode bar height" to 0.7. Click on "Create Barcode."

In the resulting window, right click on the barcode and click on Copy. Then go to the MS Word copy of the DS-230 Part I coversheet, select the old barcode that's already there and hit the Delete key. Then click on Paste under the Edit menu (or hit Ctrl + V on the keyboard). You then need to further adjust the size of the barcode by right-clicking on it and clicking on "Format Picture." Then click on the "Size" tab. De-select "Lock aspect ratio" and change the height to 0.4" and the width to 3.45". Click on "OK."

Generally, the only thing you will have to include beyond the DS-230 Part I and the cover sheet is a simple (i.e., not notarized) photocopy of the biographical information page from your spouse's passport. If your spouse is from Canada, a country in Africa, China, and those two or three other countries, more is generally required. (Again, you should find out from a VJ member whose spouse is from the same country as yours exactly what you have to send in with the DS-230 Part I.) Send all of these things to the NVC address listed on the barcoded DS-230 Part I cover sheet.

YOU CAN GET THIS AT NVC FORUM UNDER SHORTCUTS PINNED AT THE TOP!!! This will save you a couple weeks. There really isn't anything you can do to push it along faster once your paperwork arrives in Kingston.

    Hi,

Based on your timeline, your interview is in four days :dance: . Congrats!!! Can you give me an overview on what happen when your packet got to Kingston? How long did it take for you to get packet 3. Was there any info ask for in this packet that took you some time to retrieve? Any info you can provide is greatly appreciated.

  18. Congrats  Have you been doing James Shortcuts??? Next you will need DS230 Part 1 filled out with a copy of your husbands passport biographical pages. Then you can send that in. You can create bar codes for the DS230 packet it will save you time. All The best I would say you have about 4 to 5 months to go. ALL THE BEST !!!

Yes I have a signed DS 230 already in the US. I have created the DS230 cover sheet. I am just waiting on confirmation of receipt of payment and that the DS230 has been generated so I can mail the dS230 form. I check the status line at the NVC every few days. So I am really clear on what needs to be done to get the NVC part completed and pretty sure I will have that all wrapped up with in the next few weeks. The info on this site has been AWESOME!!!

The part that is not clear or should I said varies with every member on this site is when the packet get to Kingston. I am in Jamaica at least one every two months and my husband is scheduled to visit the US again in a few weeks for at least three weeks. I saw where one member actually got email info on packet 3 from the Embassy in Kingston. This would be very helpful to us since we made not be at our homes in the US or Jamaica but we always have access to our email. We just don't want to lose any time with the mail system in Jamaica.... :help::help:

  19. I finally received my IV Bill today :dance: I will send the payment back via overnight mail on Monday. Our package should be completed at the NVC in the next few weeks. From what I can tell from the members on this site; the time for the interview and visa to be issue is ranging from 2 months to over 4 months after the packet is received in Kingston. Any tips or shortcuts from anyone who had visas that were issued through the Embassy in Kingston Jamaica that you can share with me would be a great help. I am most interested in ways to get that packet 4 faster. I saw that for some members the Embassy email them info on packet 3. How can we may sure we are email? I think we have all the documentation required for the interview. Any info will be a greatly appreciated. I woul love a detail outline of what happen after the packet reach Kingston  ....jwl
