I initially had posted this in the Diversity Lottery Forum but thought maybe someone from MENA has come across this
I am filling out I-134 Affidavit of Support for a friend overseas who has won the diversity lottery.
In regards to questions 9 & 10 -
9. I have previously submitted affdavits of support for the following person(s)
10. I have submitted a visa petition(s) to US Citizenship and Immigration Services on behalf of the following person(s)
Yes, I have submitted and Affidavit of Support and visa Petition for my husband back in 2004 - he arrived in US 2005- and is now a US Citizen. Is this still revelant to put on the form since my husband has completed the immigration process?
As for Item 11
Is is okay to check _____ do not intent to make specific contributions to the support of the person.
I will not be making specific contribtions on a weekly or monthly basis........just when needed
Thank you.

I am also submitting an I-134 Affidavit of Support for someone overseas.
My question is in regards to 9 & 10 on the form:

Thank you.

I travelled this past summer to Norway in which I used my passport that is still in my maiden name (that is the only document that I have not changed into my married name) - had no problems - as long as your name on your ticket matches your passport you should be fine.

Congratulations definetely a wonderful and memorable way to end the immigration process

Welcome Glory
I would suggest that you check out the marraige requirements at the US Embassy Website in Algeria.
My husband - who is Algerian - we got married in Tunisia back in 2004. I had checked on the US Embassy in Tunisia website and called them for their requirements for marriage - These were some of the items I had to bring with me - just to give you an idea - as every Countries requirements are different - 3 certified copies of my birth certificate - which could not be more than 1 month old which had to be translated as well as and Affidavit of Elligibility to Marry. Also we had to make arrangements with a doctor for our blood tests.
Best wishes to you

Congratulations & best wishes on your life together

He can travel to Canada on his green card no visa needed

We just puchased tickets for travel to Norway in June. We had looked high and low on all the websites which we ended up paying $1,200+ on Orbitz. From what I have seen & read they won't be going down but will continue to go up with the rise in fuel prices.
Good Luck!

Congratulations & best wishes on your new life together

My husband arrived on CR1 - I believe after waiting 3 weeks without receiving the social security card we went to our SSA Office.
If your husband receives a conditional green card - he will have to file for removal of conditions after 2 years.
Best wishes

That's great. My husband drove on his international license in New York State. Also for insurance purposes you won't be considered a "New Driver" and save money there.
-
My husband received the notice to serve on a jury while a permanent resident. He checked the box that he was not a citizen and returned it.

Congratulations & have a wonderful reunion

Hi acinlove:
I am not from the city but upstate New York. My husband came to the US with a international driver's license. The first step is the written test in order to get your NYS driving permit. They have a study guide and practice tests online as well as a study guide booklet you can pickup at the DMV Office. My husband preferred the online study guide:
www.nydmv.state.ny.us/dmanual/default.html
After you pass the written test then you will be required to take the 5 hour course and then schedule your driver's test.
Good luck

Perhaps a certified nurses aide in a hospital or nursing home facility? My husband came to the US with no degree either and is a devoted muslim also. He was accepted in to a nurses aide training program thru our local vocational school where he obtained his certified nurses aide certificate. After submitting his application to one of the local nursing homes in our area he was hired within 2 days and has been working in this field for almost 2 years. I know alot of the nursing home facilities in our area offer free training classes and will hire after completion of the program and passing the test. They are especially looking for men as there is alot of lifting involved. My husband needs to complete his GED and then he would either like to go into nursing or physical therapy. It's a start....
