Applied for OCI card (Permanent Indian visa) on Sept 23, 2020 at the New York Indian consulate. I hope to get my original US passport back in a week from now. The ETA for receiving OCI card is 35 business days or 7 weeks. (before Nov 15, 2020). Once this task is completed, all my immigration hassles would be over I hope.

Also applied for Social security (SSN) update with citizenship status on Sept 3rd, 2020
Sent filled SS-5 form along with original passport card to middleburg heights SSA office. I am hoping to receive my documents back in 7 business days.

I got my passport card back from SSN on Sept 12, 2020. No information in the mail if my SSN record is updated or not 🤔. I wish they put a sheet of paper mentioning what they did with my application. (I hope to call them tomorrow just to check on this). I am hoping nothing negative and SSN will be updated. I should expect revised SSN card without restrictions in about 2 weeks.

Just got an email today (July 7) from state.gov. I applied on June 26th.
Application Status: In Process
Your application is "In Process" which means your form(s) and supporting documents are with the Department of State. We will review your application as our staff return to our agencies and centers as part of our three-phase reopening plan.
At this time, we cannot provide an update on when you will receive your passport and the return of your citizenship documents. We plan to offer normal processing times in phase three of our reopening plan. For more information, read our COVID-19 update.

After dilly dallying for 1 week whether to apply to update SSN or Passport, I have decided to do the SSN update later. Applied for American passport (both passport book and passport card, $140) on June 26th at the local USPS post office (Libraries are closed, 1st time applicant should go in-person). Instead of handwriting the form, I filled the details using the 'Filler form' online and printed the PDF document. 2x2 photos from Costco. The lady who processed my application said it may take 8 to 10 weeks to get my passport in mail ! That time frame is not bad assuming there is a huge backlog ! Once, I get passport, I will update the SSN card with naturalization status. Hopefully the SSA offices are open by then for walk-in's !

It appears that one can search passport production status online. I even registered myself on the site with my email for updates. Currently, the status is 'in process' (below).

you can go to SS offce and get all done in that visit
so, take a day off and hit the ss office and then the post office to change SS info and apply to passport

Very challenging times...Just called SSA about updating SSN records with my US Citizenship. They said that I have to mail in (certified) below 3 documents to SSN office. The part that is hard to do is to mail the originals. They said they would send back the documents the same day. Now I am debating whether to apply passport first or SSN first. If i send my drivers license, I can't drive lol.
1. Original Naturalization certificate
2. Original Drivers license or Original passport.
3. SS-5 form

Congratulations on becoming US Citizen. Quick question. Do they allow you to apply for Passport after Oath ?

Alex - This may be good news to you. I found this on travel.gov. You may have the option to pick up in person. You just made it 😃. The Oath ceremonies after yours missed it !
"If you applied and requested expedited service on or before March 19, 2020, we will honor our commitment of 2-3 weeks door-to-door for expedited service. If you applied in-person at a passport agency or center on or before March 19, 2020, the passport agency or center will contact you and ask if you want to pick-up your passport in person or have it mailed to you."
(If you are applying for or renewing a U.S. passport on or after March 20, 2020, we will not offer expedited service and routine service may be delayed.)

Oh I see. I remember you applied through USPS. I am doing Ok but everything feels surreal. I planned lot of things to do after Citizenship and this was a shocker. Oh well. I guess I am luckier than many people out there suffering with this virus. The Silver lining is that I have a job for now. Thanks for asking.
I really hope you get your passport soon to finish the loop !

Just now saw the court's page and it appears that my Naturalization Oath ceremony is suspended.
"In accordance with General Order No. 2020-05, all court naturalization ceremonies have been suspended up to and including May 1, 2020. Please contact Customs and Immigration Service at 1-800-375-5283 to reschedule your oath."
I am trying to reach USCIS over phone but not able to get customer service.

Good Morning - I just got call from USCIS office informing that my Oath Ceremony on Mar20 at Carl B. Stokes Federal Court has been canceled. He said that I will be informed about new re-scheduled date in the mail. He didn't indicate when that would be. Didn't expect this roadblock at this last stage. Well, I guess that's life !

I was able to reach the USCIS customer service. She checked my account and didn't find any cancellation information of my Oath Ceremony. She informed me to proceed to Oath Ceremony location as per the original schedule (Carl B. Stokes Federal Court). If there are any changes, she said I would get a email from USCIS regarding any re-scheduling of Oath Ceremony. So, I am planning to go to the Oath as per original letter I got from USCIS.
Hope this helps.

Congrats on getting Citizenship. My Oath is on Mar20. Just now Ohio governor announced that gatherings more than 100 people are banned. I don't know that many people show up in Oath. If it is less than 100, it probably will go on.

Good news on Oath date for you. I am wondering if Oath is usually 1 month from Interview or is there any chance it is earlier in some cases. Thanks
