  1. Long story short, my exwife was on my tax records last year, yet I do not have a copy of her W2, will this be a problem when it comes to the interview? I have all of mine back until I started working, but she refuses to give me a copy of this...what should I do?

Order a tax transcript directly from the IRS - then you won't need a W2.

Ok...thank you for your help, should I leave the tax transript envelope closed or can I open it...I already have one, that is why I ask...

You'll have to take the transcript out of the envelope in order to submit it. You'll also want to make copies of the transcript to use at AOS.

    Cool...thank you so much.

  2. Hi guys. Well, I called USCIS AGAIN, and still nothing. They have had our RFE now for two weeks, and still don't even have record of it. So, I hopped my little butt in gear and emailed one of my local representatives and Senator Boxer as well. Hopefully will hear back from them and maybe get some help. Will let you all know what happens. Jen

Yeah, I think that the Senator should bring light to your case...atleast if the packet is sitting idle, they will touch it and know now where it is...

  3. Well, we have gotten to the point of gathering and organizing our evidence of our on going relationship...how do you recommend that I package this stuff. I am going to use a standard D-ring binder and document protectors. I have airline stubs, passport copies, phone records, emails, pictures and receipts from various hotels, restaurants, transportation and other receipts.

I am going to leave the photos in a photo book. Do you recommend that I make a seperate section for each and then following that use the receipts behind the airline stubs? Sorry, I am probably overthinking this, I just want it organized for the consulate. Thanks for your time.

Are there any rules pertaining to using a binder with document protectors, staples or even paperclips?

  4. Well I can not speak for you country. However our embassy does not allow the documents to be binded, paper clipped nor foldered. Papers have to be on top of one another in their respective order. No staples eithers. This question is best suited towards people that are going thru your embassy. Every embassy is different so their is no right nor wrong answer unless coming from peeps from your embassy....Korea.

Thanks, I will just copy this on over to the Asia forum...thanks again.

  7. What a horror story...I commend your patience! A touch at this point is great news. Although there have been people who have been touched then no action for monthes, the majority recieve an RFE or approval within a week or two of the touch. Keep us posted. Hopefully an approval will follow soon.

When you want something done right do it yourself. Forget the lawyers.

I'd agree with the above statement. In most marriage-based immigration cases, the process is straightforward. We DID call a laywer when we were starting the process, but she knew less than we did! Visajourney.com has helped us more. But for some people where the non-USC is overstayed then a (good) laywer is indispensible. If you are looking for free or reduced cost services, talk to your church. Some churches have a non-profit immigration law firm in their Rolodex.

I hope that your process goes smoothly this time!

I concur...I have an immigration specialist in Korea right now and he is filling my fiance' full of really bad information...he almost had me waste $90 of some certified tax transcripts...when I originally could used regular transcripts with my W2's...it will be harder to get a K1 if you apply and are denied for a tourist Visa...and the list goes on...right now he is only there to fill out the forms...that is it. However, I really feel bad for you and your SO, you have patience which I really admire...Good luck to you and your SO...:thumbs::dance:

  8. Someone please explain this! I thought I'd check the USCIS website for the hell of it and it has a case status of 05-28-2007. Still no chage in status but who would be touching my case today? Are they even open?

    Jim

That would rock!! If they actually worked on holiday my respect for them would go way thru the roof. Well, at this point, even if they didn't actually touch you today (and rather, touched you on friday and the system just updated it today) you got a touch! Yeah touches!!

Hmm...that would rock...good luck, you should have already been approved by now along with the rest of the Jan. and Feb. filers as well...but lots of props to the man working on a holiday...
