  1. I appreciate your concern! We are working with a lawyer who advised us the same, and we gathered additional evidence this week regardless so that we could still respond if necessary. To answer your questions though: 1. Yes, he identified himself by name and location as the same officer who interviewed us. We also recognized his voice. 2. Shortly before the call that day (Jun 4), USCIS account had actually already updated from the RFE message to "Response received, we will review the evidence you submitted" and we hadn't seen that yet. The officer did let us know it would take a day or so for the status website to update. Finally, yesterday (Jun 5) the status for both our I-131 and I-485 on both our USCIS accounts changed to Approved and we have approval letters in the Documents tab! 🎉
  2. We had our rescheduled interview on Monday, Jun 2 and at the time, our case officer said that he was unable to approve our 485 due to lack of evidence of bona fide marriage for the amount of time we had been married. He gave us an RFE on the spot which listed many of the evidence items we had already provided in our initial application, as well as additional evidence we had brought to the interview and that he scanned and added to our file, so needless to say we were very confused and disheartened. Even our lawyer was at a loss. Not really sure what changed, but it's now Wednesday, Jun 4 and our case officer just called and said that he has decided he is going to approve both the I-130/131 and 485 after all, and that we can ignore the RFE. Green Card should arrive by mail within the next month. We hadn't even uploaded any new information yet, but I'm not going to question it too hard! We are so excited and relieved, it has been a long journey. To anyone out there who finds themselves in a similar situation, don't give up! Just play the game and follow their rules, however silly and tedious it may seem. You're gonna be okay. 💛
  3. After an emotionally exhausting couple weeks, I come bearing GREAT news! Our case officer just called and said that he has decided he is going to approve both the I-130 and 485 after all, and that we can ignore the RFE. Green Card should arrive by mail within the next month. I have no idea what changed, we hadn't uploaded any new information yet, but I'm not going to question it too hard. We are so excited!!!! 4. It seems the biggest issue is that we don’t have many comingled finances, such as bank account or joint ownership of anything because I bought my house and car before we were married, we lived in separate countries for the first year we were married, and the whole time he’s been in the US, he’s not been working because…he’s not supposed to?? He’s the beneficiary to every insurance and financial asset I have, he’s on my health insurance, he’s a driver on my car insurance, and we provided all that evidence already as well as photos from the last 15 years we’ve been in a relationship, letters of affidavits from friends, family, and coworkers. We filed taxes as married filing separate because he does not have a SSN or ITIN and isn’t earning any income anyway, I own all our finances right now. I even brought additional letters and things like birthday and holiday cards addressed to both of us and the officer didn’t care to even look at those, he just said they were secondary and waived me off. It’s been a day. 😔
  5. We just had our interview today, but got hit with an RFE for more bona fide marriage evidence. So disheartening as we thought we submitted all that we could put together, not sure what more we can provide.
  6. Received paper notice of interview cancellation in the mail today. I was hoping it might have further information, but it was exactly the same info they sent digitally last week. Sooo the wait continues, I guess. 😩
  7. I really hope so. He was an overstay before we filed, but otherwise entered the country legally, hasn't broken any laws while here, and we are very much a bona fide couple. 🤞
  8. Another update, we received notice from USCIS today that our interview was "cancelled or descheduled" and that we'll be notified by mail "if the appointment is rescheduled, a decision is made". I really hope this means they just waived the interview for us. Super anxious today.
  9. We've been married since 2019 (got married in Canada), but my husband overstayed so we figured they'd be more scrutinizing. However, we actually just got notice today in USCIS that our interview was cancelled and that we'd learn by mail now what the case decision is.

  11. We received paper notice today! Interview scheduled at local office for April 15. So anxious to be on the other side of this process, hopefully with a status. 🙏

  13. Hello! I am a US citizen, married to a Canadian. We were married in 2019, and in 2020 he came to stay with me in the US for what we expected to be a couple weeks, but he ended up never leaving and has since overstayed. We filed I-130 / I-485 concurrently in June 2024, and as of today we got a notification in our USCIS account that "Interview was scheduled" although we haven't received the notice in the mail yet with date. I was struggling a little bit to understand how to do my timeline here on VisaJourney as a concurrent filer, so just wanted to ask here. Thanks!
