  1. I checked the mail last night and I finally got a paper notice of NAO1. I had called the CSC last week and inquired as to why I hadn't gotten one in 3 months, so they sent one to me. LOL... at least they can do something in a timely fashion!

Wow...you are lucky to receive NOA1 already....I will call USCIS tomorrow and remind them to send me one too....Just wish to know that they have not forgotten us.....Congratulations!!! Hopefully, NOA2 will come in shorter timeframe.

I actually got an NAO1 on May 31st, but I called them because I was worried and asked why i never received a paper copy. So they sent me a replacement. It is basically worthless, but at least I know that my call was heard and they did something. That makes me feel a little bit better.

  2. It is nice to see a few folks with Japanese fiances on here. My fiance, Sayaka, found a great support group much like this one on the social networking site Mixi.

Just a question to throw out there: how were the reactions from your Japanese fiance's parents when they found out their son/daughter would be marrying a Gaijin??

Sayaka's family was fine with me being an American, but are still worried that I am a University student (although i work full time) and they are sad Sayaka will be leaving Japan to live in America.

  3. APPROVED!!!!!

Yea!!! Congrats! At least someone is getting approved..I'm very happy for you. It gives the rest of us some hope that they're really doing something other than chit-chatting with their coworkers :star: So hard to be patient at this point, but I'm trying...come on CSC!!

Sweet! Another Washingtonian with a Japanese fiance that is a May filer. We should have some sort of party when we get our fiance's over here. BTW, how many time have you gone to Japan to visit?

  4. OH!!! Shut it Aaron!!! We will definitely spend THANKSGIVING and CHRISTMAS with our SOs!!!! :D

    Let's keep thinking that way!!!!

    --MIRLA.

haha thanks for the optimism. It seems quite contrary that we are seeing May filers get NAO2's recently, and then they tell us 6 months. You are probably right, it most likely won't take that long. Sayaka will be happy to hear that they have everything and they have our correct address!

  5. I just got off the phone with CSC. They told me there me as we know there was some sort of computer crash and a lot of NAO1's were not mailed out. I asked him if I could trust any information on the website if it told me that it was mailed off and never was. He said "well, it is the govt." I then asked him at what point I should start getting worried and asked him if my case had been assigned to an officer. Apparently my case has not been assigned to an officer, and he said not to be worred until the 6 months from NAO1 notice went by.... *#@($*@(#$@*($)#*@

This guy was not rude at all, but I was assuming this 6 months was an estimate for the whole process, not just for them to look at our first packet.

I feel a little better having talked to a human being, and the guy on the other end of the line verified my address. I asked him what they were working on now, and he gave the standard Feb/March answer, but we know that can't be true because some May filers have already gotten NAO2's...

This is so frustrating. Everyday it feels more and more like I won't get to spend Christmas with my fiance.

  6. WOW !!!! We got the second touch !!!! The first touch was on August 31 after the phone call to CSC. The second touch is dated September 3.....Yipeeeeeee !!!! I129F received date: May7.... NOA1date May 30...

I was VERY nice to this angelic person I spoke to at California Service Center.... Thank you, God.

What is the phone number to get through to the CSC? I have a very worried fiance and I wasn't able to find it with the search function.

  7. Sure wish Yumi and I were on your lists !

I also wish I had something to update! I filed an I-129F petition on April 25th and the USPS returned receipt showed the USCIS received it on March 27, 2007. Since that time, I have neither received nor heard anything from the CSC....nothing......NADA....!

I got seriously concerned several times and called the Customer Service line. After 3 tries and what seemed like hours I was transferred for the fourth time and received an Officer Taylor. All he could tell me was that they had my correct mailing address and .." the fact you haven't recieved a NOA1, any RFE's, a NOA2, or that nobody has even touched the petition yet means nothing; all that means is we're working on it!" What a consolation....!

Trust me.....as soon as I hear or get anything from the USCIS I will update my timeline immediately.

I am in the same boat as you. All they did was cash my check and I scrounged the receipt number off of that. I never got anything in the mail.

  8. Congratulations on your engagement!!! If you are working in Japan, why not get married there, live there 6 months and file an I-130 to the embassy in Tokyo. It would probably be a lot less stressful and time consuming than the I129F route.

    Nonetheless, good luck!

edit: maybe I misunderstood. Are you and your fiance both living and working in Japan? You or your fiance should look up my fiance on mixi. She has a great support group on there for people with American fiances waiting around for Visa's.

  9. Wow, it seems very quiet on this thread today. USCIS was on a roll for several days and today it appears they were taking a nap. Wake up USCIS!! Hopefully they will step it up a notch and get the rest of us May filers approved soon.

that is exactly how i feel. I have an NAO1 date of May 29th so we are pretty much in the same boat. I have so much going on with University and work right now, but this is on my mind almost all the time.

    Best of luck to everyone!!!

  10. So I packed up everything for my fiance Sayaka and my K1 visa. Things were shipped out in April to Nebraska if I recall and then it was turned around and shipped to California from there. It was said to be received May 31st of this year. I was in Japan for a month, but I had my parents checking my mail for me while I was away and nothing showed up in the mail. Our check was cashed and our receipt number was on the back. I used the receipt number to check our status, and nothing has happened since May 31st. I see some people are starting to get NAO2's, but our case doesn't even look like it's been touched. We were ridiculously thorough with everything, and included many pictures, copies of plane tickets and other evidence that we do in fact have a relationship and have maintained one for more than 3 years.

At what point should I be concerned and contacting USCIS. I did this one time before, and the only thing they could tell me was the same thing I saw on the website.

    Thanks for you help

    Aaron (Washington state)

and best wishes from my fiance Sayaka (Sanda, Hyogo-ken, Japan)
