That's awesome, thanks for your help!

Lol! I just posted a question about SLC too! There's a form on their website called Overseas Income Assessment which asks about your income and you can change your address on there too. The threshold from USA is the equivalent of £15,000 so as long as you earn under that then you don't need to repay.
Hope that helps!

Hi everyone,
I'm in the process of filling out forms to the SLC as I currently have no income and am being supported by my husband. The form states that I need to send documentary evidence of income (or lack of in my case), and I was wondering what anybody else has sent that are in my position.
Thanks in advance!

Just checked the mail and a shiny new Green Card was waiting for me there!!!
-
We just got a text to say to check our status online - new card production!!!!
-
Wow very speedy! Congrats guys!

Thanks for the reply, and really? I assumed she would have them again as we paid for it along with mine!

Hi everyone,
We're filing for removal of conditions and my daughter is included on the same form I'm filing. All good so far with the form and evidence but I haven't received a biometrics appointment for her yet (mine is 17th August). Does anyone know if she will get one, or is she included in my appointment?
Thanks!
-
Morning all! We got our biometrics letter yesterday for the 17th August.
-
Got my NOA today, dated 06/23/2010! Can you add it please?
-
Hi everyone,
We mailed our I-751 yesterday and it was received this morning by CSC! Let's hope we all fly through this one lol.

Evening all!
My father in the UK has willed some money to my daughter (he's still alive though lol!) He offered to send it over here so that we could put it toward a house on the understanding that the money belongs to my daughter and not to me and my husband. No problem so far... my question is about tax. I believe in England if an estate is below £312,000 then no Inheritance Tax is payable, but the Gift Tax requirements here are a little confusing! I don't really want him to send it over if a big % of it will go in taxes - he worked hard for that money!
We're going to talk to H and R Block next week but I thought if anyone here knew anything about it I could get it straight in my head lol!
I am not a tax professional, and you should definitely seek advice from one about this (call a CPA). My memory is telling me the gift limit from an individual is either 12 or 20,000 per tax year. Beyond that, it has to be claimed on your taxes and will be taxed. Don't try to cheat by putting it in your daughter's name and then spending it yourself. I'm pretty sure that's thoroughly illegal.
Thank you for the advice about the CPA - I'll look for one today. BTW I'm wouldn't try to cheat! The house will legally be in my daughter's name.
Don't go to H R Block, that is foolish.Consult a CPA with Tax Attorney on staff or better yet a CPA / Tax Attorney and discuss this with them
Will do thanks.

Hi everyone,
We received our green cards today!!! I didn't realise they would be here so quick and I'm so glad they're here lol!
So anyway, I guess I'm out of here for a while... until we have to file for lifting of conditions that is!!! I'm so happy to be away from the USCIS for a while.
Good luck for everyone still on their journey x

My daughter is 4 years old and I signed all her paperwork, even though for the biometrics she had to sign her own name!!!
Good luck with the process.

We had our interview this morning and it was a breeze!!! My daughter had one time and I had an hour later but we were both called together at 9am. Myself and my husband had to swear the oath and then the lovely lady interviewing us checked some biographical data. While asking me some more questions she began taking the I-94 out of my passport and then doing the same to my daugher's. I then had to verify I wasn't a communist or a terroist etc and then she said we were approved!!!
I didn't have to show any documents apart from those proving me and my husband were living together... the interviewer was fantastic (her name was Michelle Wong) , she made us feel very much at ease and was lovely throughout. An amazing experience.
-
We had our interview this morning in Detroit and we were approved!!! It was a fantastically easy experience and I'm very relieved not to have to deal with the USCIS for another 2 years or so!!!
-
Congratulations!!! I have my interview on the 18th September (in Detroit As well) and I'm so nervous!!!
It's good to know your experience was quick and pretty painless - makes me feel so much better
-
Thank you for all your suggestions and your good wishes!!! I'll check them out now.
Good luck today for your interview Shona!!!

Evening everyone!
My DH and I are trying to decide if it would be better to drive down early before the interview or to stay the night before in Detroit - we've had a look at some hotels on the web and when you read the reviews they look awful! As my 4 year old daughter will be with us, I was wondering if anyone could recommend anywhere to stay?
Thanks in advance x

They don't grill kids. It's a formality. Once your AOS is successful she could say she's a 4 year old terrorist and it'll be fine... well maybe not that extreme but you know lol.
Excellent! Thanks guys
