I just noticed the same about my office. Someone who got ready for interview after me but applied four months before me just got scheduled. So it kinda still is done chronologically, just not how I would expect it

Based on the Oct filing thread and the Washington field office thread, these are people that filed after me AND got to the ready for interview step after me. There is no chronology there in any way, shape, or form.

If you're talking about the ready to schedule update then that is only a little step on your way to actually getting a interview scheduled. Depending on your field office it can take many months up to over a year to get there.

My issue is that people in my same field office (Washington DC) that reaches that step after me, are already scheduled for interviews. Yet when I call, they say everything is done chronologically, which just isn’t true. It’s either the people at USCIS don’t know what they are talking about or the people here lie, and I have a hard time believing anyone on this website Has any incentives to tell a false story.

Oh man 🙁 that might be your only way of getting to the next step. Keeping my fingers crossed 🙏🏼

Just found the website and it looks like I can have them reach out to USCIS for me. I will just provide the evidence that I have reached out several times and that they are ignoring me attempts to get an update. I intend to work on this today! Thanks for the recommendation. It may or may not help but I am willing to try anything at this point.

Any October filers still waiting for the interview to be scheduled?

My status is "ready to be scheduled" since January and it's really frustrating ...

My status retrograded FROM 'Ready to be scheduled' in January to "Fingerprints were received", all the while processing times have spiked and we're facing potential furloughs. It's going to be a bumpy and crappy ride.

Interested to hear if anyone else has had any different experiences

I would check out your local congressman's website and see what they need from you in order to help you. I'm not sure what they might exactly need but I know a job offer helps. It has showed that it helped a lot of people on here who were stuck.

Have you also tried putting in an inquiry with uscis?

More than once, unfortunately they blatantly ignore them per their own website. I will check out the local congress persons page and see if that offers any help.

Good to know that the status has to change to 'Approved and Card was sent to me' before you get it. Mine is currently at 'New card being produced'

These are the stories that cause me to yell at the USCIS customer service reps. My stuff is also at the NBC and they claim they handle them "in order received" I haven't had a case update in 9 months, have called in about 20 times since and will be calling again this week.

Congratz that your stuff is all getting approved. Can't wait to call them again and tell them everything they say is BS. Sorry if I sound like a cynic but this website kind of brings that out for us unlucky individuals.

  7. @Mirobg My case is taking the oddest a$$ route and I am expecting to need to do a lot of fighting to get things done right. What was your process like to contact the senators office?

Our case hasn't had an online update in over 9 months, the myuscis portal us entirely useless, and our last update was a move from interview scheduled back to biometrics received. I am damn near certain that they are messing stuff up in the office as people who filed months after us in the same local area are already getting interviews. Trying to prepare for the next steps I will undoubtedly have to take.

  8. The timelines can vary wildly for each step of the process starting with cashing the check. The best information you will get here is a guess from another members experience. I would give it at least 30-45 days for check cashing before worrying. Then I would give each step up to 6 months to complete. Yeah it sounds trashy but from experience that's how it works.

  9. Either their website is incredibly difficult to use, or they are making it more and more useless. Anytime I call to inquire about the status of my case (way behind the vast majority of people here, even the VJ timeline thinks I should have it already) they indicate I can "get the same information on the website". This is just factually not true, also strong recommendation for people to not take the timelines or posts on this website too strongly. People who filed 8 months after us are already getting their card and it can be a real downer.

Their website used to show you at least some content, even though it was still useless. Now their website shows you even less.

Current View: Simply says "We have your case that you filed a year ago"

Old View: Still useless, but shows more information.

  10. Awesome for those of you that have interviews scheduled. We filed in October and haven’t had an update in over 9 months. Biometrics were completed at the beginning of January. Every time we call they just say “It’s within the timeframe” it’s so frustrating I start yelling because the timeframe has extended since we filed and I point out how useless the timeframe is if they can just extend it at will and claim we’re still bound by the new time frame. We’ve officially given up hope that we will get the card anytime soon and come to the realization we’re on the 2-3 year path.

What exact numbers did you call? I filed in February for my husband. Our status has said "Case Ready to Be scheduled for interview" since April. We haven't heard anything or gotten an EAD. We weren't sure if we should call the national benefits center to check on the EAD, or the local field status to check on when they will finally schedule our interview.

I call the standard USCIS customer service number and navigate the menu until I receive a person. I’ve been told calling the NBC would do nothing, though I’m very tempted to try. As for local field office, do you have any indication that your case has moved there?

The upsetting part is you filed 4 months after me and we’re in the same step... 😕

  12. Incase anyone who filed in January is worried, I filed in October did fingerprints twice, got my EAD months and months ago and haven’t heard a single thing since. This was all a bit before the pandemic. I’ve called them a bunch of times and they even admitted my case is taking longer than it should. I’ve had status reverse from ready to be scheduled to fingerprints added and I think that caused a problem.

I am calling every few days for an update. Sometimes they “Send a request to see what’s going on” or something along those lines but it never yields anything. My case is at the NBC...

Anyways, from my perspective everyone here is doing phenomenal as you all filed a couple months after me.

  13. October filer here- I haven’t even received an interview notice both before or after the pandemic.

Have started to call them every few days to try and get movement on my application. They admitted our application was taking longer than it should, but unfortunately all they can do is “request the office to look into it”. It’s currently at the national benefits center.

if you call them every few days and get a nice rep they will keep putting the inquiry in. At some point the NBC will move my application. It’s agitating seeing how bad our government operates.

  14. While I agree with you, there’s a systemic issue when similar cases across the board can take drastically different time frames. If you scroll through the thread from October, you will find far more people that already have a scheduled interview than you will that don’t.

it’s also naive to ignore the fact that USCIS operates as inefficiently as most other government organizations. Many times, the result of your timeline is who you get as an agent. Whether is McDonald’s, Apple, or USCIS, there are employees who dislike their job and move slower.

Also FYI - calling is the only reason our case has moved along for almost every step. When you call, they open your case and take a look and with enough frustration they escalate the case to an agent who can actually make actions on it.

You can't compare to other cases. It's all about your local field office from now on. Some field offices are super fast while others are super slow, it can be anything between a couple of months and a couple of years before being scheduled for an interview.

So I’m comparing with other people on my area/field office. Fortunately for me there is an entire thread dedicated to my field office! Someone did 3 months in my field office that filed a few weeks before me.
