  1. I am possibly looking at the option of a possible extension on the entry of the visa but when i sent an email to the embassy i received a generic response (something that was copy and pasted) so if anyone hears different I would love to know.

Also I was thinking of delaying my flight for another month just so I can stay in employment a little longer just for some extra cash as I think the recession coming would make it difficult to find a job once I am there.

You are immigrating as the spouse of a USC?

Nobody can tell you what things will look like in 2 weeks, I really can not think of a sensible answer, so much depends on your personal situation, for example if you have a secure job in the UK and you would be going into an unknown situation in the US might be better to wait, if everything is packed, sold whatever in the UK and you have major issue staying could well be better to move.

I have a secure job that I can hold onto if needed as my manager is quite flexible with my leave date but the risk is waiting it out does not sound like things will get better soon. tough call to make

    Very frustrating!

I believe the process would be once we arrive in the US (at specific airports not necessarily in your intended location to live), we would be medically screened and then would be required to self isolate for 2 weeks.

dont mind some self isolation if it comes to it - just need some clarity over my flights. thats the main concern.

At the moment you may only enter the U.S. at:

    Boston-Logan International Airport (BOS), Massachusetts
Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Illinois
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Texas
    Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW), Michigan
Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL), Hawaii
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), Georgia
John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), New York
Los Angeles International Airport, (LAX), California
    Miami International Airport (MIA), Florida
Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), New Jersey
San Francisco International Airport (SFO), California
    Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), Washington
    Washington-Dulles International Airport (IAD), Virginia

Things will undoubtedly change though and TBH, the ability to travel maybe removed. You have until mid May, so maybe hold off until then and see what transpires. You can get the visa extended, but would need to get another medical and pay the visa fee. I'd like to think that special measures will be introduced by the DOS to smooth the process. Countless thousands are in this position and there is truly no right answer.

I am due to fly in ATL and then Raleigh from there but its just hard as my wife wanted to leave last month but I was stuck with my work and financially did not make sense to leave then. Just do not want it to sting me in the back in the future - obv health comes first but we have been waiting for this for so long its hard to enjoy the countdown anymore.

  5. I have my flights booked to move to the US in two weeks yet with so much uncertainty I am unsure if I will be able to make it on a plane to move there let alone any trouble I will face once I land.

My visa states I must enter the country by 14 May 2020 but alot can chage till then.

Any advice? should I move my ticket forward to wait it out?

    Morning all,

I have recently been approved for my CR-1 visa via DCF in London, and was intended to travel to the USA where my wife has been living for the past 2 months at the end of March.

Obviously COVID-19 has delayed things however, whilst there has been a travel ban placed on the UK from entering the USA, I did read in the communication that permeant residents and relatives of US citizens will be not impacted by these restrictions.

Can anyone confirm if my CR-1 status would allow me to travel to the US? Obviously I am waiting for formal confirmation from the Embassy here in London however, just looking to see if anyone has any more information they could share.

Wishing everyone all the best in these trying times!

    B.

I am in the same boat - due to fly in 2 weeks with my wife and son but worried i might not be able to fly.

also would we get qurantined once we arrive?

hello, you should have an update the day ds5535 was submitted.

you can checK it on CEAC

I got a email response telling me that the documents have been received.

Yeah I check everyday but my case was last updated on the 5th December and today marks 4 weeks since my interview.

Not sure what is going on but just have to remain patient i suppose.

Your profile lists UK as the country you're from.  So, this statement makes no sense if that is correct.

Thanks for your response - I am from the UK trying to migrate to the US so I was just asking if there were any restrictions when it come to time out of the US.

I have applied for a UK passport and was wondering it would be easier to apply for a US one once we move.

The existence of the child would not have triggered the DS-5535 -- although its better to document him as soon as possible.  Is there something else that maybe was dIscussed during your interview that wasn't on any of your forms-- i.e., travel not mentioned before or something in your education/employment history?  If so, they won't issue the visa until they review whatever issue/information that they determined was the basis for requesting you complete the form.

nothing much - just asked about how i met my wife and how long we have been together. i did mention about visiting the UK for the holidays and if there were any restrictions.

its almost been 3 weeks and i have still not heard anything - any idea where this could go?

Ah ... yes.   Child is in the USA.      Never mind the reference to derivative.   I was thinking you were the wife ... my

wasnt clear on my previous message - he was born in the UK but we will need to apply for a US passport. Thought once we move then would be the best time to apply for one.

Thought that occured to me was your support evidence, embassy might ask for a new I-864 as there is one more dependent now.

would this delay my application as administrative processing can take weeks as stated.

With the addition of the child they will most likely hold your visa while they process your son's visa.   Just a little more patience.  ;)

Being able to add a derivative such as your son is a perk of the FB visa (and FA) .. a 2nd petition is not necessary.

Surely my son qualifies for a US passport through my US wife.

didnt think it would of been an issue.

Question.   Did your son get added as a derivative to receive a visa also?   (which may be why they requested the DS-5535)

no as i only mentioned it in the form - they did not ask at the interview. my status has changed from issued to administrative processing.

  13. Hi,

I had my interview last week that was refused due to further administrative processing - they were just waiting on my medical.

However on monday i received an email to fill out the ds 5535 form - i had included details of my son that was born 2 months ago yet i never mentioned at last when i filed for IR1.

I have checked my online status and it says visa issued - so my question is that can the ds5535 change the outcome of a visa?

Dont want to get too happy too soon.
