    Bearsmith,

I have health insurance and left 15D blank.  The way it's written, it seemed to me that it only applied if your health insurance was pending in some sort of way.

I can imagine they'll revise this question in a later edition of the form.

Thanks, glad to see I'm not alone in being confused by it. It certainly does seem to be asking that. It's confusing because the "No" doesn't seem to be answering the question, but instead saying "No, I do not have insurance (and do not plan on getting it)".

I'm not super comfortable leaving the answer blank though... I'm thinking about answering "No" (as that is the answer to the question they're asking) and then writing down something like "I am enrolled and my coverage has started" in the box below it.

  2. That seems strange, because then it says "attach a letter or other evidence from the insurance company showing that you have enrolled in or have a future enrollment date for health insurance and when your coverage begins", but the previous question asking if she has health insurance already said "If yes, attach evidence of health insurance". It seems like it's asking the same question twice, and asking for similar proof twice... I don't understand the difference.

It really looks to me like 15. D is asking specifically only about if you signed up for insurance but it isn't active yet.

  3. My wife is working on her AOS package. On form I-944 question 15. D, it asks "Have you enrolled or will soon enroll in health insurance but your health coverage has not started yet?"

The options are "Yes, I am enrolled" "I will soon enroll" and "No".

My wife has health insurance (and we answered that earlier in the form), so how do we answer this question? The answer is technically "No", but "No" on the form seems to mean "No, I have not enrolled and don't plan to. Do we just skip this question?

  4. Hey everyone. My wife submitted her I-485 two weeks ago. We missed that for I-944 is required now, and so we didn't include it in our packet. I'm guessing that means our application will be rejected. Her visa expires April 14th, so I want to be ready to resubmit as soon as we get the rejection. I'm assuming we'll have to remake the entire packet and pay the fee again?

Also, how long does it usually take? The packet was delivered 5 days ago but I still haven't gotten any notification (G-1145) that it was opened. I'm assuming we can't just resubmit before we get rejected, so I'm worried about how long it'll take for the rejection to come.

But you will have some explaining to do - like an affidavit for your fiance to present at interview.

What would I want to include in something like this? I graduated from college this year and this is my first job, so there's nothing really to "explain" except for that. I'm thinking the important thing is to show that I'll continue working here, right? I'm not sure exactly how to do that beyond showing I've worked here 6 months already (past the 3 month trial period most companies in my industry have) and saying that this is my dream job so I don't plan on quitting.

  6. Hey all, my situation is pretty straightforward but given that this is the last big hurdle I want to make sure things will be ok.

I started working in June. I make significantly more than the required income, but I'm not sure if only being employed for ~6 months will be a problem or not. I have a letter from my employer stating my salary/position/full-time, copies of my paystubs, and bank statements. Just wondering if that will be enough or if I should get a co-sponsor.

Also a question about the form itself: In the "stocks and bonds" section, do I need to list my 401k?

Does she have an,address that she considers her permanent address?

No, she's moved around a lot. She's from Japan, and she moved from Japan to Canada on a working holiday visa. For the last two months of her time in Canada she moved out of the place she had been staying in and just traveled. When she went back to Japan she moved into a different apartment than the one she was in before going to Canada.
