  1. Hi guys!

I wonder if anyone can help me, I'm little confused by this one.

So I got an extension letter in the mail, however it's printed on a regular white paper. Two of my friends that got their letters around the same time as me, were printed on a thick green paper ( I attached photos).

I have no idea if that even matters or not, it's just weird. I will add, that this was a second notice that was mailed to me ( the first one was never delivered because USCIS didn't include my apartment #).

    I will appreciate any response.

    Thanks!

Karla, sorry for the late response.  From what we recall they came within a couple weeks of each other - SS card first I think but not 100% on that.  Hopefully you have yours by now!

Thanks for the response! That's interesting because when my green card came I called USCIS and they told me that since I got GC before my form I-765 was even processed (and won't be processed any further) I have to go to the SSA office and apply for SSN in person as I did last friday. Hopefully will get it soon. Congrats again!

Hey all, I've been using this site as a resource for a long time but I have been in stealth mode.  I just wanted to share a little about the process as my wife and I experienced it so maybe it will help anyone in progress.  We applied for the fiance visa in October, 2017.  No additional documents were requested and my fiance (at the time) had her interview in Costa Rica in August, 2018.  She was approved so I traveled to CR and we came to South Carolina in October and were married on October 6.  We sent the requests for the work permit and AOS in December, 2018.  The wait times looked daunting and I was not expecting resolution of the AOS until the end of 2019 at the earliest.  Here is the part where it gets a little scary.  We received the AOS interview appointment for May without any news on the work permit/SSN request other than the initial notice that our paperwork was received.  I saw several videos and comments from "experts" who claimed that if you do everything right you will not get your AOS appointment first.  We gathered all the documents we could without being able to include any items like joint bank account or other financial documents since she had no SSN.  We did try to get her an SSN when she first arrived but it seems like there is a debate between the SSA and USCIS about whether or not someone in my wife's scenario should have an SSN.  At the interview in Charleston we told our story in brief and then presented an album of our photos starting when we first dated in May, 2015 including wedding pictures and a few more recent ones.  I printed a few pages of our chat log from Whatsapp and I had one of our friends write an affidavit.  We also presented  documents showing we had traveled together and paperwork from her OB/GYN showing that she was pregnant and had a miscarriage in January, 2019 (a whole other sad story).  I feel pretty sure that the officers have already reviewed everything before the interview and they have a pretty strong feeling of whether to approve or deny before you even go there.  The officer was businesslike but friendly - much more so than the one who processed her paperwork in the ATL airport when she first came with her visa.  He was quick to dismiss my concerns about not having any financial records as proof since we didn't have the SSN.  He actually made it seem like he did not expect the SSA to give us one.  The officer seemed almost grateful when I gave him the Whatsapp log like that was the icing on the cake for him to go ahead and approve us.  Success!  It seems that since the AOS and work permit requests go to different offices, it really is just determined by random luck and how deep the backlogs are which process moves forward first.  That is the main point I wanted to cover.  Do not panic if the same happens to you.  We were very nervous about that after Googling too much.  Good luck to all and feel free to ask me anything.  I'm no expert but I am happy to help as many others have helped us.

Congratulations on your wife's Green Card!

I also had the interview today before even receiving EAD/SSN. Did SSN come in a mail around the same time as GC?

My NOA is June 26, sent the package june 19-20, biometrics July 17. My case hasn’t updated past “fingerprints review completed”. Congratulations for your interview.

    Thank you!

I keep my fingers crossed for the fast process then! Don't really pay attention to status updates, I didn't even have any update after biometrics and then went straight to "ready to schedule interview".

    Good luck! 😊

Hi, can you share your timeline at the San Diego office? Also, wanted to tell you that you’re overthinking it and you shouldn’t be worried about something like that.

    Hi, thanks for kind words!

04.30 sent packet to Chicago Lockbox

    05.02 priority date

    05.29 biometrics

09.06 I-485 status changed from "case was received" to "ready to schedule an interview"

09.18 status changed to "Interview was scheduled"

No update for I-765, I-131 and I-130 (we are adjusting from B2 tourist visa)

Our interview is this month on 24th. That was very quick we didn't expect that! Also I don't know if this is relevant but all of the notices arrived from National Benefit Center.

    What is your timeline?

  6. Hi guys!

So my situation is kinda strange. Long story short in 2007 I came to USA (Chicago) on J1 visa for Work and Travel program. From what I remember I did apply for SSN but never received it (it got sent to the address where I didn't stay anymore). Anyway I've never go back to the SSN office and never even start working, due to family emergency back home. I had to go back to my country after not even a month. I didn't care about SSN at that point (was young and stupid)😑

Fast forwarding to 2017 I was applying for tourist visa (B2) and remember I had to answer the question" if you were ever issued a SSN" (wasn't sure what to put in there). I called the embassy, no info. I even called the SSN office in Chicago and they said that since I've never used it and never physically had it on my hands then it's invalid or canceled or something like that. So in my visa application I stated that I've never had a SSN. Got approved for the visa with no issues.

Now I'm in the process for AOS and we are lucky to have our interview in couple of weeks. In I-765 application I also stated that I don't have SSN and applied for one in the form.  We got our interview date before EAD and AP arrived. Status on those are still " Case was received..."

While preparing for the interview I'm starting to think if this won't cause any issue.

    What you guys think?

    Hi,

Hope everyone is good with AOS.

I filed AOS on April 30,2019 and did biometrics on May 30,2019. My online case status changed to "case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" on July 3,2019. Now I just found the status changed to "Interview was scheduled" : On August 6, 2019, we scheduled an interview for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Receipt Number MSCxxxxxxxx. We will mail you an interview notice. However, AP and EA status still shows  as "Case was recieved".

    My question is:

    1. Does that means I will be able to do interview soon?

    2. I have no joint bank or insurance account with my wife(petitioner), even no joint things, is it necessary for interview?

    Thank you so much!

    Hi!

I have very similar timelines to yours and my status changed yesterday for "Interview was scheduled". No EA and AP either.

Can you tell me please how your interview went? Would appreciate it!

    Thanks! :)

I separated my application into 6 folders, 3 papers on top and 1 sealed envelope. Below is the order I have. See more details here: https://diysimpleidea.blogspot.com/2019/02/diy-i-485-adjustment-of-status-2019.html#tips I hope this helps!

    1. Two G-1450 Forms (on top) - Authorization for Credit Card Transactions for I-485 and I-130
    2. Main Cover Letter
    3. I-485 Folder - Adjustment of Status
    4. I-864 Folder - Affidavit of Support
    5. I-130 Folder - Petition for Alien Relative & I-130A Supplementary Information for Spouse Beneficiary
    6. Evidence of Bona-Fide Marriage Folder
    7. I-765 Folder - Application for Employment Authorization
    8. I-131 Folder - Application for Travel Document
    9. Sealed I-693 Envelope - Report of Medical Examination & Vaccination Record

Hey, everything was fine with two G-1450 forms put on the top of all package? Was thinking if I should put both on top or one on top I-485 and second on top I-130.

    Thanks!

The form is very simple and clear. On the first entry that asks for a name, put the name  that you are using for your petition. On the second entry, put the name exactly as it appears on the credit card.

Hey! We will be paying with my husband's credit card ( he is a petitioner). He has a middle name but on the card it appears as just first letter of his middle name. Is it how we should filled out the "Credit Card Holder's Name"? example: John E Doe.

    Thanks!
