  1. I called today the NVC to check on my DS230 status only to find out that they need another Police certificate from me!!!!

I've already submitted a Police certificate along with all other documents, I've submitted the same one my friends have submitted in the past and no one had any problems with that!

I am thinking maybe the operator made a mistake or did not read the instructions on the screen properly or pehaps I was too tired and I didn't hear properly. :protest:

    What do you think guys!!

Mideviel, The same thing happened to us!!!! And after telling many supervisors that the consulate and State Dept. said that they were correct then they did a second review and it was approved but holly molly it felt like the dog chasing his or her tail!!:blush:

Thanks Katita for your prompt response! But what should I tell them and how can I convaince them? :secret:

Wouldn't be quicker to just supply them with what they need instead of chasing your tail? Perhaps I don't have the skills or I may simply not meet the right person to convaince!! How did it go in your case.

Thanks Katita and everybody here for your support!

Call the state dept. visa hotline and also call the NVC and talk to supervisor Sue or Mari. What ever you do do not call the night shift supervisor MACCY she inflammed the problem and was very rude and told me if I called 100 more times that she would give the same answer 100 more times. And said the visa WILL NOT be approved until the right docs are submitted. BUT THEY WERE THE RIGHT DOCS!!! And they are still the same docs!! We never sent them anything different and we stood our ground and pushed them and pushed them. Get ready for some frustration with these people!!:wacko::wacko::wacko:

How long did it take you to convince them to review and approve your case? I was thinking if it will take the same time to submit what they need, it may as well save you some unnecessary frustration! :bonk:

2 weeks to complete the review.:o

  4. I feel your pain. Yesterday a NVC rep told us that are case was complete and that they will be giving us our interview date soon. Well today they told me that it is almost complete just one more check. ???? What does this mean??

Say what? It's like a never ending riddle with NVC. I wanted to hear what they will say to you the next time you call. Can't they just figure out what's really going on? Give me a break! :help:

I feel like that dog chasing his tail!!
  5. Rina, They told us the same thing about our police certificate and then POW they approved it. Believe me when I say this. They are very unorganized and do not communicate well from within. I called and called and called and got different stories almost everytime that I called. Call in the morning and ask for Sue or Mari. They are supervisors and very very nice. Their fax # is 603-334-0791 Good luck and PM me if you need more info.

Hello katita1757. Your previous comments has been noted.

The supervisor I talked to was very pleasant as well, and she really took the time to validate these documents with me on the phone. Besides, these documents they require for us to submit were properly supplied to them, according to the standards from the website itself that we checked out and downloaded.

There are two ways we can obtain police clearance certificates in the Philippines: from NBI (national records) and City district Police Clearance (local records). In our case, it was easy for my husband to obtain it from one location since he have lived there (Quezon City) even before he reached the age of 16, compared to other citizens in the Philippines that lived in other city or provinces. I made sure I have from both: national and local. I have explained to them that it is not fair for someone like us to be required to supply and sbmit them the same documents again. I had to read to them what was on the website itself for obtaining police certificates. There's no way that they can say that my husband's police certificates are invalid, I had submitted both NBI and Local Police Certificates.

This is really ridiculous  ... they had my ds230 for quite awhile now, and now this? If it was my fault, then at least I can live with that. But this is truly unacceptable.

  6. As some of you may know, I have been waiting for NVC to provide me status of my DS230. Finally, today I heard what other people would not want to hear..."found a missing information" which translates to RFE, and a letter was sent on October 2nd. My initial reaction? Lots of questions like "For what?" and "Why?"

I knew I had to talk to them, besides I gave them a break to review it, so then I called the number and waited for a live operator. I was expecting for a question or two we may have missed, but NO that was not the case. Everything was good on my husband's DS230, we got them all right. I can't believe what I heard when they said they are missing my husband's biographic data page of his passport and police certificate. :o

Here's what I have sent them with the original DS230 packet:

    • Barcode Coversheet
    • DS230- Forms Part I and Part II
    • NSO Original, Birth Certificate
    • NSO Original, Marriage Certificate
    • Marriage Termination Documentation
    • >> NSO Original, Annotated Marriage Certificate
    • >> Certified True Copies from Regional Trial Court
    • Photocopy, Valid Passport Biographic Data Page
    • Original, NBI Clearance Certificate
    • Original, Police Clearance Certificate
So, if I have all these documents on my DS230 packet, why would they say I am missing it?

I have made an exact copy of the packet I sent them originally, and since I have been careful with what I sent them (double checked every page, reviewed them and followed every checklist they required), I will be sending them a letter today via Express Mail, and I will attached the copies I made of my original packet to show them that unfortunately they dropped the ball on this. I did not cause the missing information, they those documents and they better find it. Let's see what they say this time when I call them back on Monday

  7. Typical NVC!!! Maybe I spoke to soon. Yesterday one of the operators told me that case has been COMPLETED!! So me being me I called the Automated system to double check and it says that the checklist has been receieved. So I called just now and spoke to an operator and she said that the case is ALMOST COMPLETE. What is the requirements for these people to get hired??

Almost complete, is that another status type?

Well at least you know that your case is complete or about to be completed! :reading:

Just spoke with a supervisor MARI. She was very very nice and helpful. She cut through the BS!! We talked for 20-25 mins. She told me that interview scheduling will go longer than just the 2nd week of Oct. due to the holiday and demand and she told me that we most probably will get our interview in Nov.

  9. Yes. This is what they told us and in 2 days they told us that the case was complete.

    well I hope so....

My RFE checklist reached there yesterday (10/1) afternoon around 3:15pm so I was doubting that this was it.

My ds-230, however, was delivered on 9/27 11am.

How long does it take for them to process these I864 RFEs?

Opps, I thought that this was a checklist for your DS-230. Sorry. I did not know that you got an RFE with your I-864.
  10. Just want to let ya'll know that the NVC has approved our case as of 9-28 (fri.) We forgot to fill in the questions that did not apply to us. And yes we used white out on our petition and I still left one question unanswered #22( where it says in what occupation you intend to work in.) The NVC rep said that this will indeed be addressed at the interview and she wished us good luck so now we wait for the interview date. What a roller coaster this NVC has been. They have taught me to chase my tail!! LOL
  11. We used the same form and just wrote with a pen in hand to correct everything. Also used white out.

    I don't think white-out is a good idea.

Talked to a supervisor and a couple reps and they told me no problem what so ever. I myself asked a supervisor about this before doing it. She told me that they understand that mistakes are made and that whiteout is not a problem.
  12. So it should be less than 6 months old.

The official rule (which NVC should be following also) is:

    9 FAM 42.65 N3 VALIDITY OF SUPPORTING
    DOCUMENTS AND APPLICATION FORM DS-
    230, APPLICATION FOR IMMIGRANT VISA
    AND ALIEN REGISTRATION
    (TL:VISA-185; 02-26-1999)

Supporting documents that are subject to change are valid for one year. This
time limitation applies to Form DS-230, Application for Immigrant Visa and
Alien Registration, medical examinations and police certificates from any
country visited or inhabited subsequent to the previous clearances. It does
not apply to a birth certificate or a third country clearance or police
certificates from an area to which the alien has not returned since its
issuance. The affidavit of support (AOS) must be submitted within six
months of its signature by the supporting relative, however, it remains valid
indefinitely. However, because the affidavit of support is based on the
Federal Poverty Guidelines in effect at the time of the visa issuance, it may
    need to be updated.

Chris, You are a boat load of info. Very informitive!!!:)
  13. My case was assigned.. so I called NVC for the first time for further information and the operator finally answered, he asked me about the Case # and the Beneficiery's birthdate and for the moment I got so confused so I told him the wrong month of my husband's birthdate. First I said September and then August omg :@ then he said that's not what we have on the system Mam, find out the right information and call us back.

I called back and i got the information....but..

Do u guys think something is gonna go wrong, do the operator based on what i said take any actions or write down anything so i could get in trouble? I just wanna make sure nothing bad influences on this case..

Just give me an opinion Plssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss :) )

I think you should be ok. Everybody makes mistakes. And they should understand this. Just remember that dealing with the NVC can be like a dog chasing his tail. :bonk:
  14. If you send your documents to the NVC and they deny the documents, what would you do? We have checked double checked and checked the source of the documents and checked and checked again. The instructions that they gave us to get the CERTIFICATE OF GOOD CONDUCT is at the Ministry of Foreign affairs and they gave us the address. My spouse went to the exact address. They also said that it has to be stamped by the Foreign Ministries and it is, six times!!! They also want it to be signed by the Dept. of Authentication's and legalizations of the Ministries of foreign affairs and it is!!! They also want the APOSTILLE SEAL and it is stamped with this seal and all the documents are translated. A supervisor at the NVC said that they will not except it since it came from the wrong office!! What the hell is wrong with these people!!?? Have you ever seen a dog chase his tail?? OH, and the police report came from the correct police office also. Has anyone ever had this problem?? :help:

While I agree you need to give us more information on what this is about and what country is involved, you also might want to consider that 9 FAM 42.65 provides that NVC may only issue two RFE's for an item. After that, they must send the case to the consulate notwithstanding the unfulfilled RFE. If the consular officer at the visa interview still finds something wrong with your documents, you will get a 221(g) denial until you correct it.

Thank you Chris. Somehow I do not believe that they would send the petition on to the consulate knowing how our govt. operates. I do not want to take that chance that we would be made an example of. Where did you find this law??
