  1. Luvmydane; I can't tell from your timeline as it doesn't say where you filed for AOS or when, but did your AOS get transferrd to CSC? 'Cause if so most cases don't get interviews if transferred there.

WSR; as far as postponing here is what I know from reading around here and talking to people. There have been instances where USCIS has "postponed" "Rescheduled" the interviews and so people didn't show up for the initial interview and were denied for not showing up!

I mean you may be fine, can you have someone check the mail for you while you are gone? Look out for it and then let you know so you can be back in time?

I've updated my signature and yes it was CSC. Sorry, I don't want to hijack this thread.

  2. Hello all, just wondering about the interview timeframes and what month USCIS is working on in accordance to filing dates. Me and my wife filed in August and will be leaving out of the country in December and some of January so hopefully we will not miss any interview appointment. If they send out a letter while we are gone, how far in advance do they usually give people before the actual appointment? THANKS!!

Well we submitted ours March 2008 and without warning for an interview, we got a notice just today stating my husband is approved for his Permanent Resident Card. We are still in shock that we didn't have to interview. :D

Do you think this was because you submitted sufficient evidence for a bona fide marriage? We tried to submit everything and anything we could think which suggests comingling of finances. That would be nice but congrats to you!!

Thank you and I honestly don't know what it took because we submitted just what was required. We have been waiting to have the notice for the interview and we were SHOCKED that is was approved without one. I wish I knew why they did this so we could share with everyone else what our "secret tips for success" were. Everything was normal documentation so we have no tips :(

also...we don't have joint bank accounts and I didn't submit any evidence of comingling of finances.

  4. I don't know why we got so lucky but we are overjoyed that we received "We welcome you to permanent resident status in the United States".

We have been waíting since March of this year to receive a notice for my husband's interview. We didn't have to interview and we are still in shock :D

It said his green card will be here in 3 weeks. What a long journey but I am thankful it's coming to an end. No longer do we have to hold our breath. Today we can exhale.

Good luck to everyone and here's wishing everyone the best :star:

  6. Finally!!! and they made us wait and suffer longer than we should've. I am a little bitter about the whole ordeal because it was difficult watching others that had applied the same time as us get approved months ahead before us. I was even discouraged to see someone apply to the same country as us, a month later than us. and at the same servicing center as us, get approved before us. I hope you all have the strength and love to endure this. It makes me cry that I have been without my loved one for so long. So many things have happened in the past 9 months that we each had to do alone. Without each other. We can never regain that time lost and yes I am bitter about the whole system.

So this whole journey was a bittersweet one. The Visa is approved and he will be here shortly. I am very happy knowing that.

I wish all of you swiftness in your case and I hope your's doesn't end up as paperwork clutter on someone's desk like ours did.

Congratulation's! May you live long with your loved one.Dont dwell on the time lost reveal in your future together.

Thank you!! I'm shaking off all the bad stuff and looking forward to seeing my Fiance.

  7. Congratulations! Looks like your petition was approved in reasonable time. And it seems it took longer than it should've at NVC and then maybe even the embassy. either way, its almost over now. And soon you'll be together. Good luck to you both!!

Thank you and I wish you all the luck at your interview. My neighbor is from Russia and is married to an American. She just got her American citizenship and she loves it here!!! I hope Sasha loves it too!!

I understand the bitterness towards the process and how long everything seems to take. To me, it was like labor and delivery. I remember it hurt, but I will never want to duplicate that pain again.

    Congrats

LOL!!! That is the perfect way to describe it. This was truly a labor of love.

Are the dates in your siggie correct? Your timeline dates aren't updated, so I can only go by your signature, by which it seems the delay occured at the Embassy stage of things, which doesn't have much to do w/ the service center. Your petiton was approved in 86 days, which is less than many people. (4 days quicker than our approval, and we filed around the same time as you.) What was the reason for the delay at the embassy stage? Why did it take 6 months for you to interview for the visa?

Anyways, wishing you a joyous upcoming reunion, and much happiness! :luv:

    -P

It's true some of the dates were not updated and I plan on doing that as soon as I remember everything. Honestly, during that time I couldn't come on and update. This website was making me very depressed.. Don't get me wrong, I am joyous for other people and love that they had good news. I just would get very sad and frustrated because nothing was happening on our end. The bottom line is that the hold up was with the Embassy. Denmark practically shuts down during the month of December and they told us nothing would be done during that month.

Thank you for your good wishes and I hope the very same for you.

    Congratulations!!!!!

I can imagine your bitterness towards how the system works, we have all felt that, some more then others. I know from our standpoint it was very hard to enjoy our happiness fully, knowing that

there were others still waiting before us.

We lift our glasses up in a toast to your happiness together!

    C.

Thank you so much and I hope the Danish Embassy is more speedy with your process than it was with ours!! Cheers!!!

  11. Me and my Fiance' arrived in Copenhagen at 10 a.m. by train. Our interview was at 2 p.m. so we had a lot of time to kill before we went to our interview. Around 1 p.m. we decided to go there. There were 2 guys outside the building and they told us to come back at 1:45. We went to a cafe down the street and waited out our time. We got in there and we went through security. They took our phones and ipods and gave us a little tag so we could get it back on the way out. We went in there and we were the only people in there besides an older couple who didn't have all their paperwork together. We were called up and a very nice lady went through all our paperwork and even corrected stuff for us. Then we were told to sit back down and wait for the interviewer. They didn't look at our pictures or anything. They didn't care about the letters of itent either. So we waited. She called us up to the window asked us how we met, what he intended to do in America, what I was doing in America, where we were going to live, and she took his fingerprints. Said that everything looked good pending the results from the fingerprints coming back from America. I asked again just to make sure we were approved and she said yes! It was actually really really easy. They said they would let us know about the fingerprints. And yeah it was easy :)

Congratulations! We had our interview yesterday. His was in Copenhagen too!!

  12. All went well during the interview yesterday. My fiance made a mistake when they asked him when we met. He told them December 2006 when it was actually November 2005. I don't think it should matter because we have documentation that shows we met earlier. He was very nervous. He was the only one interviewed that day. He said they took his fingerprints. He encountered a woman that took all his required documentation ie: birth certificate, passport photo, passport, all the other required forms. They did not ask for the Letter of Intent nor the Medical information since they already had that from the Physician. He then had to wait 30 minutes to meet with the interviewer. She asked where we met and how we met. He told her we met online. She asked what kind of work experience my fiance had in Denmark what kind of work did he plan on doing in the US. She asked what kind of job I had. She asked if my son would be living with us. He said the interview itself lasted 10 minutes and she told him they forwarding all information to the USCIS for confirmation/approval and they would call him back in few days. No longer than a week..

  13. We are a Danish and American couple.

We just found out that our package was sent to Denmark. Now we are waiting for the interview. :o

Nice to knowing from the other Danes going through this experience. I (the American)have already been to the American consulate in Denmark/Copenhagen and everyone there seemed very nice and helpful. Hope all stays that way for the interview for my fiance'.

    Good luck to all,

    Myla

    Hi Myla.

I am so happy to see you here.

I went ofcause also to the interview in Denmark and they are very nice.

What I can tell is that they are very fast with their procedures on everything.

I wasn't approved at the interview though since they needed me to do an extra hoop through London because of an old conviction.

But after this approval it took them 3 days to mail me the visa :D

    There's no waitingtime on anything.

    When is your husband's appointment?

    Anette

    Hi Anette,

We don't have the appointment yet. The NVC said everything was sent on June 27th.

Off topic...How do you like American candy? It's terrible next to Danish candy. I miss all the sweets I experienced in Denmark. I might have to send away for some so my soon-to-be husband doesn't get too homesick :P

  15. WOOT WOOT!!!!! Got our NOA2 in the mail today. I didn't receive an email update even though I registered my email with the USCIS. Also, my address changed a few weeks ago and it didn't seem to slow the process down any. (For those who wonder if it would)Godspeed to everyone else who is waiting. Your day will come as well. Hang in there. One day we won't have to worry about all of this anymore.

  16. This will be quick and I just want to see what you all think. I have technically been employed by the same place since September 5, 2006. However I started as "on-call," meaning working full time and same pay just no benefits. I finally switched to full time the end of December. Do I just go ahead and have my employer put the start date as December since that was when I went full time? I am only asking because I was thinking it would look better if I had been there longer, but maybe I am overthinking this. Thanks for your help.

This is my opinion...I started my job in May of 2001 starting on as Per Diem staff. I changed my status to part time a few years later. When my employer wrote my Verification of Employment letter, they stated my original hire date and then my current status. I really don't think you need to list that you were only an on call employee at first and that you should use your orginal hire date with that company regardless what your status was when you were hired.

  17. So I booked my tickets yesterday for another trip to Scotland before I'm too big to fly. Well after arguing on the phone with the British Airways rep I finally got her to let me pay for 3 tickets with two credit cards. (Sounds easy doesnt it? NOT) Ok ...so I jump on ba.com to check out my itineraries and wouldnt ya know it they put me down as a "Mrs". Now I'm sure this is no biggy but I'm using this itinerary and ticket stubs as proof of ongoing relationship at the interview and even though its a simple typo I freaked out, called BA and sat on hold for 45 minutes just to keep the sky from falling. When the new rep told me it would take 48 hours to change the stupid typo I copped an attitude with her and asked her to send me email confirmation of the intended change. (document document ARGH!!) People...I seriously think Im losing my mind over this visa process!! I need to get a grip.

Oh dear, my friend works for an airline and she told me that if you are very nice and sweet, the airline workers will help you. She said they will go out of their way as long as the customer is nice and doesn't cop an attitude. She told me if someone gets snotty or belligerent that they, (the airline workers) will not help at all and sometimes will mess you up. She said it is not only her airline but all the airlines are like that. So my advice is to stay calm through it all, pour it on thick, (even though you'd rather tell them to go to #!#@) and hope that they will be helpful.

  18. Hello,

My wife is on a K-1 visa from Russia. She now has received perminent resident status. Her 53 year old sister (she's single and lives in the Ukraine) wants to visit her in the US. Is this possible for her to obtain a tourest visa. My wife's daughter is also here in the US on a student visa. not that it makes any difference. In the Ukraine, my wifes sister owns a flat and has two daughters that live there.

Any help on this would be greatly appreacheated.

I don't think it should be a problem since she is showing she owns property and has ties to her country.

I spoke to a russian co-worker of mine that entered the US on a tourist visa. She told me she showed that she owned a property and this was her tie to her homeland. She then filed political asylum when she got here but that's a different story ;)

  19. Hi,

I'm traveling together with my fiance to U.S. My question is upon arrival in Immigrations, she goes to the non-US Citizen line and I stay in the US Citizen line. Would it be ok for me to join her when facing the Immigration officer or could she join me since we're both each other's fiance? Has anyone travelled together with their fiance to the U.S.? Thanks.

I have done this several times with my fiance but it was with the Visa waiver program since he is from Denmark. He could not enter through the US immigration line and I had to go with him through the visitor line. Immigration officers didn't have a problem with me, the USC, being in that line at all. I believe when your fiancee/wife has her green card, then she can go through the US side together with you.

I know it sucks because the lines can be horribly long for the visitors and USC's go right through. We as USCs sometimes take for granted how lucky we are to hold those blue US passports. I went through several countries customs and when they see my passport, sometimes they wouldn't even look at it. They would just waive me through. Not so with my fiance. He gets checked and double checked.

Our last POE was JFK in New York. We were still just boyfriend/girlfriend at the time. We went through the Visitor side and I went with him. I always asked the people that are directing the lines if it is ok that I go with him being the USC and they always have said yes. When we walked up to the window, I went first with my then boyfriend. The officer asked if we were married and told him no. He said that we can't be at the window together since we weren't technically family. Only families can be at the window together. He processed me and then I waited for my boyfriend just a few feet away.

My fiance has no problems with immigration at Chicago or New York. He had a horrible nightmare with the officers in Atlanta, GA. We did some goggle research and found that many people had really bad experiences coming through Atlanta as the POE. AVOID this POE at all costs.
