  1. Help!

I tried to keep my bank account open with my I-551 Stamp and the bank manger is telling me that I NEED the physical green card. The bank opened an account for me a couple weeks ago but then went BACK on their word and decided to close the account immediately.

I entered the US on July 8th and paid for my green card. We received a confirmation email stated it would take 120 days to process.

I am employed and now have no where for my payroll to be deposited.

I was able to obtain a SSN, drivers license, teaching license, health insurance AND employment with this I-551 Stamp - so why can't I keep my bank account?

The I-551 is listed as a TYPE A document.

Has anyone had this issue or know how to resolve it?!

The reason for the insufficiency in my income is that I am a graduate student in Canada and I don't have a real income. Consulting our lawyer, we provided assets for the lack of US-earned income. Even though the assets are 5 times more than the minimum income requirements, we still received the note for my income. Now, I have prepared all the documents for a joint sponsor but I am a bit confused about what I should expect next. Is the NVC waiting for the joint sponsor to have a new update? Am I going to receive an email about any new updates or do I need to follow the message box on the NVC website?

I think after you upload your documents for the joint sponsor, and NVC reviews these you should see "accepted" by those documents - and if they feel your case is complete you will receive an email saying you are "documentary qualified." For us, each time we uploaded something new it was taking about 2 weeks for NVC to review.

More than 2 months now for us. The problem is i cant go back to fix it to make it faster now. Rfes because of her. And 2 months at NVC. Before we submitted, she had 1.5 months to check/review all AOS, financial and every document while I was waiting for my HK police clearance to arrive. All the things i uploaded myself and explained/wrote a note myself was accepted by NVC. It is hers that delayed us. Last resubmission May 7 and idk coz now we have no update at all. 😞

I was late to find this website. So many informations and helpful people here. Way more helpful that our fully paid lawyer who did nothing but upload docs and delay us. They dont care now coz they are paid. 🙏🏽

Thinking of you! I'm so sorry you are going through this - I hope you get some news very soon.

Exactly the same here. Our lawyer only uploaded the documents/information I provided him which was much faster and easier if I did it myself! I have to submit a joint sponsor as we received a note that my income is not enough. I was ready to submit everything last Wednesday but I have to wait for the lawyer's signature till tomorrow. Do you happen to have an issue with the financial requirements for the sponsor? We received a note saying: "the petitioner does not meet the minimum income requirement to sponsor the intending immigrant for this case. The consular officer will make a decision regarding this requirement at the time of the interview. For more information, please visit https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p. To avoid delays, an additional Affidavit of Support Form I-864 for a joint sponsor may be submitted."

Does this mean our case is waiting for the submission of a joint sponsor?

We had the EXACT same issue with our lawyer. Absolutely disappointed in his "work" , we've done most of it ourselves and have caught so many of his mistakes. I wIsh I found this website sooner as so many people have been so much help!

With the financial requirements we had the exact same note on our case! We filed our taxes jointly, and when my husband (US citizen) added his W-2's, there was missing income from our joint income return. We had to send in my T-4s (Canadian Citizen part time work) The NVC only looked at my T-4's and concluded we didn't meet the income requirement. We had to clarify with the NVC that my husbands W-2's were the forms to be looking at for income requirements.

Not sure if you and your spouse filed a joint tax return but this is why we were told we didn't meet the income requirement. We had to make sure the W-2's were uploaded separately to make it clear to the NVC which income was sponsoring.

Yes, I contacted the help desk and they gave me a “non” answer, answer!  What does the registering actually do?

Ugh that's super frustrating - so do you get the error page when you enter your #?

When you register you get to choose where you want your visa sent via mail (standard or courier)  - I think it also allows them to confirm your appointment.

Hello Everyone. I received CC/Documents verified email May 16th. Just wondering anybody with the similar CC dates waiting for interviews?

    PD Nov 5th 2018

    CC May 16th 2019

    Waiting for Interview.

Also, how do i check if my priority date is current or not? Any sheet I can fill in or see the wait list for interview? I am IR1/CR1 applicant.

I received CC on April 10th and my Interview Date was assigned on May 16th - so it took our case about a month (+6 days) to receive the interview date. Our interview was scheduled for June 21st - so hopefully yours takes about the same [or less! :) ] time!

  7. I am gathering documents for my CR1 interview in Montreal - does anyone have any suggestions for further evidence/documentation that would be helpful to bring?

ALSO: I have only received the interview letter via email - therefore I have printed a copy and added it to my binder, is this ok? Or does an official copy (via mail) need to be added?

Any suggestions, ideas, comments are helpful! Thanks!

Yea I do call them regularly and wait hours for someone to pick. I don’t know what to do? They just say one and the same thing everytime. I am totally dejected.

Im so sorry this is happening to you. We called a while back too and were told the same thing with being in queue. But I feel they have missed something for your case, that seems very odd and unfair that others have gotten dates and you're all the way back in January. I would keep calling or have someone review your case because something isn't right.

Congratulations!! I am still waiting since January 😞

    What visa category are you?

I hope so too. We thought NVC will be faster and easier than USCIS but... oh well!

I just want the Cc so we can finally be in queue for interview. Speciallywith Montreal’s long list. I want to get CC ASAP. Hopefully you get your email soon. I checked timelines of canadian members and I’ve seen K1 applicants who got July 7 or 10 date already. This means, May and june is full?

I received my email this morning and was booked for June 21st! So we only waited just a little over a month for an interview date!

Oh i didnt know it’s possible to file jointly even we are not living in the same country. We used a joint sponsor instead. My husband made enough for 2018 but we were not able to provide 3 months latest pay stub April 1. He just started with his new job March 5. So we got a joint sponsor to be safe but everything is messed up now and by the time we get Cc, for sure we can already provide 3months paystubs. ☹️

Hindsight just filing separately until we were together would have made this process a lot easier! Oh I see, I'm so sorry you got delayed so long, but you got to do what's best at the time which was a joint sponsor. Hopefully you get CC after this submission!!

Would you mind sharing your experience about the tax? This is all about tax and w2 back and forth now. We first submitted April 1. By the time they review the second resubmitted W2, it will be 2 months since we started 😓

We filed our taxes jointly, and our lawyer uploaded them all in the same place and the documents weren't labeled correctly to what NVC wanted. (So he corrected them and submitted) We then had to submit my Canadian tax documents in addition to the W-2's (another submission and wait) Then we were told my husband was not able to support me (they were looking at my Canadian tax return as a part time worker) so then we re-uploaded his W-2 separately (another submission and wait) Then we finally document qualified - April 10th. More so frustrating that we hired a lawyer to help us with the process and minor mistakes have delayed us immensely! It feels like we have been at the NVC forever!

I hope you get yours soon. It’s been over a month since your CC. There are so many K1 applicants for Montreal so who knows if there is still spot for IR-CR1

Yeah I knew someone who filed around the same time we did (K1) and they have had their interview already! Heard Montreal can take a while but I hope nothing more than 2 months! I saw someone had been waiting since January :( Fingers crossed
