  1. Hello!

My husband moved from England on a K1 visa. We applied for AOS, EAD, and AP last month. When submitting, I sent all my information about my job in the affidavit of support.

I might be getting a new job in the next month or so as I have graduated college. Do we need to let USCIS know of this? I’ll still be making over the requirement. Just not sure if I need to be contacting someone or if we can just leave everything as is if I get a new job.

    Thank you!

  2. Hello!

My now husband came over on a K1 visa on April 24, 2019. We were married on June 26th, and we sent the packet to USCIS with everything on July 19. USPS tracking said it was delivered to the lockbox on July 22nd

We have received zero correspondence. The check has not been cashed, we haven’t gotten any notifications, and when calling we are transferred to someone higher up that has a call waiting time of 603 minutes.

Has this happened to anyone? What is going on? USCIS will not tell us anything.. is there another number we can call? Should we wait? It was delivered three weeks ago tomorrow.

Please help. My husband and I are extremely concerned. I’m often reduced to tears when I think about how many hours I put into organizing that packet with the thought that USCIS lost everything and won’t tell us anything.

No, they're not.  Maybe printing these official instructions out and bringing them to your town office will help:

How To Issue a Marriage License

Under point 8 and 12 is says: "If the Party is from out of the country and does not have a social security number select the radio button “None"

If they don't budge you might need to get a lawyer.

You are amazing. Thank you so much!!

I also verified with a different town office that he does NOT need his SSN to get a marriage license. I’ll print this document and take it to my town office! I also emailed a lawyer so I will print their response as well.

    Thank you!!!!!

  4. Hello! I’m honestly not sure if someone can help me or
    not.

My fiancé is from England and is here on a K1 visa. We went and applied for him to get a SSN on May 17. They have to verify his documents with DHS before issuing a number.

Everything I’ve read states that foreign fiancés on visas do not need to have a social security number to get the marriage license, they just need to show proof of being here legally (I94, K1 Visa, Passport). However, my local town office (in Maine) is refusing to give us a marriage license without his SSN. It can take 4 to 6 weeks to get an SSN (from what I’ve seen) and we want to get legally married June 26.

Is my town office correct in refusing to give us a marriage license? I’m stressing out because the wedding is in 4 weeks and 2 days and I don’t know if he’s even going to have his SSN by then. Does anyone have any experience with this?

    Thank you in advance!

  5. Hi everyone!

My fiance is from England and his interview is April 1st. I have a question about the delivery of his visa.

When he paid for the visa to be delivered to his house, he put his name down as the one to show ID and accept the package. We did not put any other name down due to specific reasons I won’t go into. He works during the day (except Saturday) when mail is delivered. What happens if he is not home to show his ID and accept the package?

He lives in Milton Keynes, and the closest pickup we could find was Gatwick. Do they take it back to Gatwick? What happens? He wants to move as soon as possible (end of April, first week of May) so we don’t want any delays.

    Thanks for your help!!
