This has happened to a few people, and you are right there is rarely any clarity as to why. Most likely explanation, NVC noticed some sort of mistake, and send it back for USCIS to "reaffirm" and correct it, which USCIS did now. You will probably get a new NOA2 with new expiration date, so do not worry about that expiring. Hopefully next week, on Match 19 NVC will forward your approved 129F to your embassy. By the way it will be helpful if you finish your profile and timeline since you are entering part of the process that is very country specific now.

Hm, the timeline did confuse me a bit :) I thought I filled out everything that has happened so far. I will take a peek and see what else I could add to this for now.

  2. Hello all,

Last July, I applied for my fiance to come from UK to US to marry me. Our i-129f was initially approved last December (2018), but I got concerned when the NVC still hadn't received it by late January (yes, I know it can take more than 6 weeks but I prefer being involved and proactive).

After a back and forth with NVC research associates, I was informed that they received our petition at some point after February 4th, but had already sent it back to USCIS on February 14th. We were not given a reason for this, and as I found it concerning I involved my senator after escalating the issue with a Tier II USCIS officer who still gave no answers.

Within a week of hearing it was sent back, I reached out to my senator. Less than a week after that, I got an email saying our case was updated. It showed a notice of reaffirmation of previous approval, with no reason as to why this occurred. Yesterday I got a hard copy of the reaffirmation and assume that a new i-797 approval hard copy will follow.

My question is, what would cause a case to be sent back and reaffirmed within a few business days? I assumed that if it were admin issues I would never know about this happening, and never receive a case update or reaffirmation at all. Our i-797 deadline is approaching, and I am concerned about what is happening with our case.

Has anyone experienced similar, or able to give some insight or direct to a helpful previous post? I searched extensively but have not had luck finding this situation.

    Thank you,

    S
