Some of those folks used to be here on VJ........I'm not sure if anyone from there is here now.  I know of one couple (active here) who turned the show down......probably a wise decision.

Oh I’m sure, nothing like “hey do you want to watch a movie on Netflix together while FaceTiming?” To be super boring. You need to be one of those people that loves drama to do that show.

Haha, my fiance says that immigration makes it harder and confusing to test couples lol if you make thru it's cuz you really love each other..

Fiance and I fought a couples time while filling the forms.. I'm sure we'll bicker some more about it.

But it's ok, we'll be stronger in the end

Same here, we only fought a couple times because of the forms and the packet bs lol. And waiting for appointments. It’s a pain. But we’ve been together 6 years and only getting better.

There is an envelope inside the envelope.  If the only envelope she has says do not open then she needs to call the consulate   We opened it and got the passport and the packet out.

No it’s just a shipping envelope and she’s stressed to open it, it doesn’t say do not open on the package. I told her to open it and there should be her passport and the do not open envelope

There have been may cases that what you see as a "party" to what the CO sees as a possible "wedding". I would hate to see you come all this way and get denied because of an innocent picture. Why give the CO "ammunition" to use against you in ways you never thought possible. I'll give you an example and from there you'll need to make your own decision. If you want more information than in the upper right corner of this page is a search box. Use the words "marriage ceremony" and you will have more examples.

I’ve shown these to my fiancé and since everything is refundable and the “wedding” didn’t involve anyone from the county or church to do it we are going to cancel it and let everyone know.

Maybe Canada is more lenient(?) less likely to scrutinize, but if you have the wedding with family and friends before approval -would that risk making you "too married" for getting approved at your interview? ...Or at the POE if the CBP officer finds anything from the wedding on your electronic devices, etc is there a risk of K1 entry denial?

I’m not sure, we sent them paid invoices of everything and asked our lawyer about it, he said as long as we didn’t sign the marriage license it was good to go. Because until you sign the license you aren’t married.

Unfortunate, but really one cannot plan specifics for weddings when doing a K-1.  That is one of the major disadvantages.  Hopefully you haven't pre-paid/paid nonrefundable deposits, as the queue for interviews in Montreal is legendary.

Yeah we’ve heard that before. We’ve decided if the visa isn’t done by the time of the wedding then we just aren’t signing the license and will do it after approval. And just doing this for family and friends.

This is the updated USCIS policy manual and it describes what is required: https://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume8-PartB-Chapter4.html

"Special rules may apply to certain foreign nationals who were examined overseas, including certain nonimmigrant fiancé(e)s or spouses of U.S. citizens (K visa), spouses of lawful permanent residents (V visa), refugees, and asylee dependents. Such foreign nationals usually do not need to repeat the full immigration medical exam in the United States for purposes of adjustment of status."

    Andhttps://www.uscis.gov/policymanual/HTML/PolicyManual-Volume8-PartB-Chapter3.html#S-B

"K and V nonimmigrants applying for adjustment of status are not required to repeat the medical examination if the application was filed within one year of the date of the original medical examination."

A second medical exam is not required for the K-1.

    From <https://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/687576-change-to-medical-requirements-will-we-need-another-medical-before-aos/>

Just so there is no confusion under these new procedures they do not change anything for the K-1 visa. You will still follow Embassy instructions and current Medical protocol and once in the US you will complete your AOS with the inclusion of the DS-3025, which for a K-1 trumps the I-693 requirement in most cases. Now, if for whatever reason your DS-3025 is not complete then you will need to see a Civil Surgeon to have them complete the vaccinations and to transpose the DS-3025 to the I-693 which will require a separate payment to the CS. CS can charge whatever they want. I have seen $75 to $600 to complete the I-693 because you didn't receive a DS-3025 marked "complete".

Her physician in Canada gave her the vaccinations required for the Visa. Nothing further. She has her shot record as well. It’s not like she’s avoiding anything we just weren’t informed that they did vaccinations at the medical exam and she was worried she would be denied or held up without them. I don’t see anything in there that states doing that is against any policy.

She is bringing everything including a titer test to the medical exam.

Also you kinda come off super rude.

  8. 2 minutes ago, Greenbaum said:

You may want to research what's involved if you use your own physician to administer the vaccination as it will get a little tricky and or costly come time to file your AOS. Most medical exams by the appointed medical exam facility include the vaccinations in the fee.

We had no idea since one of the lawyers we talked to suggested getting them done. Another post on here said that we should get them done before seeing the medical facility because one of them required boosters.

You can't hurry it along at all. You have to wait for P3 which takes 2-4 weeks from Ready. Comply with what they ask for in P3 (the actual one they send you) by sending them a copy of the signed P3 checklist, your DS-160 confirmation and your Passport Bio. Then they send you P4. Then they tell you to register to schedule and you'll wait some more for interviews to open up, which only happens once a month during the last week of the month for two months ahead UNLESS you are lucky and you scoop up a cancellation. Get your medical appointment first so you can schedule the interview shortly afterwards.

Packet 3: https://ca.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/27/2016/07/Packet3Instructions-K1.pdf  And Packet 4 for reference also: https://ca.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/27/2016/03/Packet4-MTL.pdf

For all things dealing with the US Consulate in Canada head on over to the sub-forum for Canada where they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link:

Birth Certificate and Police Certificate information

Here is some additional information. As was stated in the Canadian sub-forum there is an "emergency order" application in Ontario. You need the birth cert that is CERTIFIED COPY OF BIRTH REGISTRATION that has the parents name. You don't want the "parental cert" that is a wallet sized one with parents names but no place of birth, doctors who attended birth etc. The parental one is for parents travelling with kids to prove custody in an easy to use/travel with format. Hope this clears up your question. CALL the registrar and tell them you need to do an emergency application otherwise you will be waiting 15+ weeks. Absolutely the long form is a required LIVE document needed at the interview or you'll get rejected.  I hope this info is helpful and best of luck.

In case you're doing the medical in Vancouver: Dr. Cheema requires you to schedule the interview first in order to book the medical.

We’ve already put packet 3 together and are working on the packet 4 stuff. She got her police certificate done in March and she’s had most of her vaccinations done, (just needs the boosters) by her regular doctor. It’s just super annoying that we didn’t hear anything from NVC until I had to email them twice for information. They sent us notice of action that it was sent to NVC on the 18th of May, and I didn’t hear anything via email or snail mail until today and it was a reply to my email.

That's good news! Your case was sent to Montreal today. Once you send in P3 in a few weeks you'll receive P4 which will allow you to log onto the website to book your interview. You won't be provided with an interview, they're quite confusing with the generic emails. I'll let you know when I send in my P3 since I'm also in transit!

OH THANK GOD! Looks like we are probably around the same time. We filed in December of 2018.

I totally understand, nothing to apologize about. This whole process is super stressful. Not sure if August will happen, considering your documents haven't gone to Montreal yet. You can't make the process go any faster by sending P3 in right now, you just have to wait for for CEAC status to be 'ready' for the second or third time. You can track that using the MTL case # you got from NVC and going to this website, make sure you select "immigrant visa". Your fiancé will most likely have a September interview. I wish you guys all the best. If you have any questions feel free to message me.

    https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx

It says “your case is in transit to the consular section. Your interview date was provided to you by the national visa center”

but we didnt get an interview date lol

I had no idea this was a thing... I’ll have to see if I can do it or if my fiancé has to sign up for it. That would be nice if we could get everything done soon. (I figured it would be closer to September than anything because the 797 or whatever saying we were approved was good til September)

    Thank you,

sorry super stressed, we had planned our wedding for August and the fiancé is freaking out about it. I’m more like oh well if we don’t get approved by then we just do the ceremony and don’t sign the marriage license then we go to a justice of the peace after we get approved. But she’s losing her mind.

NVC will assign you a case number and send your documents to Montreal. You have to wait until your documents are sent to Montreal before you send P3. It looks like you got your case # assigned today, which means your documents probably won't be sent to Montreal until July 9th.

Yeah we just got our case number and we gathered everything needed for packet 3 already so we just wait and send that as soon as we get Packet 3 from Montreal? Maybe we can speed it up a little bit...
