  1. So Mohammed has been here over a year now..all is well he has a good job in the hospital here and we've settled into a good routine...the only not so good thing is how much he misses his family. He talks to them online of course, but the reality of American life, 2 busy teenagers, the 2 of us working opposite shifts just life in general makes his time with them short. We have discussed the possibility of his mom coming to visit..she doesnt work there but she owns their home and there is a new grandbaby there who she watches while his younger brother and wife work. She would need his sister who is 33 and not married to accompany her. Anyone have any luck with this type of thing? It would be an awesome Christmas gift for him this year....

  2. You are right to be more worried about the pnemonia, Elisha(my son) had H1N1 about 3 weeks ago and the doctor stressed strongly that it wasnt really the flu you had to worry about but the secondary infections because the flu makes them so ran down...keep forcing the liquids, and if you cant keep his fever down, I used Motrin, then in an hour Id follow with a dose of tylenol. They have liquid adult strength in both so it can get into his system quicker!!! Ya'll are in our prayers!!!

  3. Hi Sharifah, Im Cara married to Mohammed who has been here since Nov of 08. We've been together since 05...looking back the road doesnt look that long lol. Kind of like child birth I guess!!! I havent been on the site in a while but thought Id come back around to see what was happening. We live in Dalton Ga, which used to be the carpet capitol of the world, but I think it is probably the unemployment capitol now. I work for Windstream Communications as a programmer.....soooo please people dont cut your landlines!!!! Feed your fellow VJ'rs lol!!! I have a 15 yr old daughter and an 11 year old son and we are discussing one more...not sure about the starting over. Oh well enough rambling from me! Welcome to VJ!!!

I drove through Georgia all the time when I used to drive to Florida. Don't care much for the State, but I always thought Dalton looked like a cool place. Are all those carpet factories out of business now?

The ones that arent completely gone under have scaled back. My kids dad lost his job at Shaw after 25 years.

  5. Hi everyone, I havent been on the site in a while and I see alot of new faces and some sad stories. Ill just suffice it to say I keep all of you in our prayers, praise for the good and prayers for the sad. Thought Id give an update on life here in Ga. Mo came in Nov of 08 and we were married that same month..its been a rollercoaster to say the least. At this point its safe to say I think we are levelling out and starting on "normal" life...as much as you can with my crazy moroccan man lol. I think the biggest shock for him was the fact of bills and money. Somehow in Morocco even when they were broke they had stuff...here he sees now I wasnt just whining lol no money=no anything. We are waiting for his work card and getting ready to buy a house. We've been doing a bit of traveling, Memphis, North Carolina, Atl, Iowa, Arkansas. And he loves to take pics to show his family back home. Id like to say thanks for all the support we got while going through this process. Maybe I can return the favor and help someone else since Im a veteran at it now!!!!

  6. Mo's visa runs out on 020408. Intentions were to have his papers filed by that date obviously...then murphy and his law moved in...car wreck=car payment where before there was none, moved into a "better" house and deposits for everything ended up being about 500 more than expected...####### just life in general. Taxes will most likely not be back in time to make that deadline. I did get a 2nd job today part time 3rd shift so maybe that will get us half way there and inshallah taxes will make it here before, but if it doesnt what happens? What happens if its the 14th not the 4th??? Anyone ever encounter this problem before? Im freaking out here!

  7. Hi! Im Cara married to Mohammed from Khemisset Morocco. He got here on Nov 8th of 08 and we were married on my sons birthday Nov 20 08. So far our adjustment has been surprisingly easy...I was terrified after reading some of the post here but so far no major hurdles. He is bored to death not being able to work but luckily the kids were out for Christmas break and there are always about 10 extra besides my 2 here so he is out with them all the time. Life is good.. great even!!!!

  8. Not much time but I wanted to post...Casa called Mo today and told him to come bring his passport. They wanted him there today, but they called at 12 and wanted him there at 1:30, not doable from Khemisset, so he will go Monday at 1:30. They didnt say specifically come get your visa, but why else have him bring his passport right???

  9. Talked with both senators offices today and chose to go with the more helpful sounding of the two. She emailed the release form to me at work, I faxed it back and she emailed me in about an hour sayg she had made some inquiries and shed let me know when she heard anything. May not help anything but at least helps me to not feel so freaking useless.

  10. Ooops that 07 is a typo, we filed this time in Dec of 06, was forwarded to the NVC in Nov of 07 had our interview in Feb of 08. We began talking to eachother in April of 05. Guess I need to fix that. That would account for some of the responses I guess lol...I was thinking dang I know I think 5 months is long but it isnt outside the norm that far!!! Thanks for the heads up!!!

  11. His interview was great, he had the blonde and they laughed and talked and at the end he asked her did we get our visa? And she said to him yes we accept your relationship we will call you in 2 weeks to get your visa your case just needs a little further processing in Washington. I was fairly certain it wouldnt be 2 weeks since his name is Mohammed, but 5 months is pushing it. Giving up isnt an option for us..weve been together since 05, just tired of this wait!!!!

  12. So in Feb of 06 we had our interview. Mo was told 2 weeks...hahahahahahahaha  yeah its been like 5 months and everytime I call DOS I hear that wonderful word....PENDING!!! I guess my fear is that after all of this waiting they will come back and say Oh we're sorry your not getting it. I know people say that they have never heard of this happening unless there was criminal stuff that came up...and we dont have to worry about that here. So am I just being paranoid?
