  1. As far as the approval notice and it's expiration date.... I've never even heard of that, so that's how important that is. I wouldn't waste any time worrying about it. Your sweety is going to get assigned a date and then sent a packet of information. As long as she complies with what's in that packet and shows up on the date assigned, she's A-OK.

    Decoding the date -

You'll see the "code" as something like MOS2007905004 or something like that. (This is the NVC case number that you'll be assigned from NVC shortly after receiving the NOA II from your area service center.)

Basically, the 2007905 is the date it was assigned to MOScow embassy at NVC. (Not fact, just my theory!) Soon, within a month or so, you'll see that number (it may be along with your service center number LIN0708551980) on the embassy's website along with the date of the interview.

You can use your NVC case number to compare to the case numers (and dates) of interviews already assigned on the website to ballpark figure your interview date.

    Example:

    Your NVC case number- MOS2007905012

    Embassy website list-

    MOS2007804001 - Dec 12

    MOS2007901006 - Nov 28

    MOS2006505123 - Dec 08

    MOS2007923008 - Dec 16

    MOS2007826002 - Nov 26

You can take a guess that your interview is going to be somewhere between the end of November and the middle of December. This is in no way a scientific process, but it does work. Sometimes! Good luck, and if you still don't understand, just wait. Eventually, you'll see your number on there as well.

Thank you! This is a very interesting theory, I never see this before. However, I don't think it works all the time - how about something like this: MOS2007573*** - the date cannot be 5/73... I guess we just wait for now.

  2. They automatically extend it but if it makes you feel better you can e-mail the embassy requesting an extension. Most everyones expires before the interview. Mine expired 4 months before the interview.

We been approved on 26th of June. But the sealed packet I recieved was issued june 7!!!Interview was in August 17!

So make sure she expects her packet soon!tell her to check with a post office my letter was waiting for me whole month, because they did not sent me the notice!

So you are saying that the embassy in Russia sends the packet via regular mail not via DHL?

Yes, the Moscow embassy sends the packet via regular mail. Only the actual visa is sent via DHL

  3. Well I finally got sent from NVC today...woo hoo!

I've tried to set an interview appointment already, but apparently that loophole has now been closed and I have to wait until they receive it. I will try again Friday. Congrats to all those who have achieved milestones since my last post and good luck to all of those on the threshold. Have a great week!

Can you actually "set" an interview appointment yourself? I thought the embassy has to schedule it.

For Kyiv you actually set it yourself. You now telephone a callcenter, which costs money, and then they help you make the appointment. A filer more senior than myself told me to call as soon as I have my KEV# and set the appointment. I tried that, but now it appears that the case only makes it into their system when the embassy receives it. So alas I must wait for a couple more days and try again, since this time I pay for my impatience.

Very interesting! This way people going through Kiev don't have to wait 2 months for their interview! I assume you can set it as soon as possible. We are going through Moscow, it's been almost two weeks after NVC and still no interview date. Will wait...

  5. Sorry to confuse you.I been approved for K1 on august 17.

she must recieve packet with instructions.sorry made mistake calling it sealed:)

We had a stupid lawyer we relied on and she was kind of updating us.I found this page just week before the interview and it saved us lives. We had to re-do bunch of papers. We got our date from packet i recieved.so unfortunately I am not sure. But I know there was on website somewhere info.My fiance checked right week before and it was there.

Thank you, that explains it. We also have an attorney as our case is not straightforward, but I got most of paperwork information and guidelines from VJ. This is a great site!!!

  6. How long does it take Moscow embassy to schedule an interview? Our petition was sent out from NVC almost two weeks ago; I called the embassy today (their call center) and they still don't have an interview date, moreover they cannot tell me if they received the petition at this time. They said it can take up to 30 days to receive the petition from NVC. Is this typical? What was your experience with the interview scheduling?

The state department will know the date before them embassy will. You can call them in DC and ask, they will probably know by now. Otherwise, it will be on the moscow website. You can guess when it will be posted based on the appointments already there (the date is encoded in the case #).

I called the state department, and they could not tell me - said I need to check with the embassy. I am curious how can you "decode" the date out of the case #? What date is encoded there?

Was your K-1 visa approved on June 26th or I-129F? I am confused - what sealed packet do you mention here? Is it a packet that comes with the K-1 visa? How can they issue this packet before the visa is approved... Also, did you see your interview date on the Moscow Embassy website? This is a way to check on it even if you don't have a letter.

    Thank you!

I see... It appears that we will have to ask for an extension since it's taking up to 1 month for the embassy to schedule, but it makes me feel better that it is a common fact. There was someone here recently whose interview in Moscow was scheduled in approximately 1 week from the date the petition left NVC. But that is probably just an exception...

  9. Typically, it takes a little over a month or so to get an interview scheduled. You can call and check the website daily, or you can sit back and relax and check on it once a week or even less. Either way, you're going to know the date well in advance. The only difference is the amount of stress you put on yourself.

What happens if the approval notice expires before the interview is scheduled? Do they automatically extend the approval notice? If it takes over a month to schedule and then another 2 months to the interview, it will be past the expiration date...

  11. Got interview date from the embassy website! What a nice birthday present. :)

BTW as I had predicted, the interviews are scheduled faster now because of, apparently, fewer people in line for them after the April-July bottlenecks at USCIS.

Our case was mailed to Moscow on 08/30/07. I called the embassy today - paid $12.00 and was told that they can see our case in their database in electronic form, but cannot tell me if the actual paper case already there. Do they wire cases to Moscow embassy electronically in addition to mailing them? I never heard about it.

I believe they do both to all Embassies. As I understand it, they will not schedule however until the have the hard copy.

How long on the average does it take for petitions to get to Moscow embassy from NVC? If they use DHL it should only be 3-4 days, however, some people's timelines say 8-10 days...

  13. According to US Embassy website in Moscow, the police certificate needs to be translated. However, you do not need to notarize it.

    :help:Hi everyone!

I went through so many forums, but never got a clear answer whether i need to get my police certs translated or not. I am from Russia and plese somebody from my country who have gone through this already help me.

Do i need to translate the PCs and have them notirized? And how long does it take to get a police certificate?

    Thank you so much! :help:

    Thank you

So i guess i can translate it myself?

Yes you can, just make sure that you put a statement on the bottom of the translation that you are fluent in both English and Russian and this is a true and correct translation and sign.

  14. http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...tml#Vaccination

    Vaccination Requirements

All applicants for immigrant visas are required to have the following vaccinations, if appropriate, for age, medical condition, or medical history:

    Mumps

    Measles

    Rubella

    Polio

    Tetanus and diptheria toxoids

    Pertussis

    Influenza type B

    Hepatitis B

    Varicella

    Pneumococcal

As a fiancé(e), you are not required to fulfill this requirement at the time of your medical examination for a fiancé(e) visa. However, you may want to do so. These vaccinations are required when you adjust status following your marriage.

Actually I just found on Moscow embassy website that only tetanus-diphtheria and MMR vaccinations are required for immigrants over 17 years old.

I also had to get varicella

About the clinics in Moscow - the one called "Medicina" is cool, that's where I got my medical care when I lived in Moscow. I loved it that I could book my appointments online and all the doctors were great. But I have no idea how to get an immigration medical there or how long it takes. I don't know anything about the second "approved" clinic.

I wonder why you had to get varicella - it is not even listed on the website. Did the doctor tell you to get it during the medical?

  15. What forms are included in packet 3 which Embassy sends to a fiancee? According to Moscow US Embassy website, forms I-230, I-156 (electronic) and I-156K need to be filled out prior to the interview. Are these the only forms included in packet 3? I just wanted to review them as our ptetition is on its way to the embassy now. We have not received packet 3 yet, but wondering what's included into it.

    Thank you!

  18. Does anybody know where I can get a list of vaccinations my fiancee is required to have? I understand vaccinations are not required for Embassy interview, but later for adjustment of status - is this correct?

Also, there are two clinics in Moscow for medical - which one is better? We would like to have results the same day so she can go to the interview the next morning. How to make an appointment at the clinic and how far in advance do we need to schedule it? We do not have her interview date yet, but our petition is on its way to Moscow, it was sent out from NVC on 08/30/07.

    Thank you!

  19. Our petition made it to NVC and I am trying to prepare for the next step :) Does anyone know if US Embassy in Moscow requires all evidence of on-going relationship to be translated into English? I am originally from Russia, so obviously we communicate with my fiancee in Russian...

    Thank you

  20. I called NVC on 08/23 and they have not received out case yet although it was aproved on 08/03. I called CSC and spoke to a really nice lady who found out that our case was mailed to NVC on 08/22. Hopefully it will get there soon. Does anyone know how long it takes for a case to get to NVC and be entered into their system? The lady at CSC said they had a backlog in ther mailroom, that is why many cases were delayed going to NVC.
