  1. Well, after years of wait, it's finally over ... my wife and daughter received their visas.

    .

    .

    .

Than something along the lines of .... congratulations your visa has been approved. Everything is okay, you need to send medical report. Which was sent along with passports and received the visas in about 12 days.

This forum has been a great help. Thanks for your support!

    Congrats.

    *Asalam-Alaikum(ww)*,

    ALHUMDOLILLAH ALHUMDOLILLAH ALHUMDOLILLAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband got a call from the embassy yesterday, they said they isued him a visa, all they need is New police certificate becuz his old one expired... all he has to do is submit hi certificate and come pick up his passport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY WOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

I am so happppppppppy, masha'Allah, Alhumdolillah.

I wish all of you the best of luck... insha'Allah. May you all hear the good news SOON, insha'Allah Ameen!!!!

    Congrats.

  2. Got reply from embassy "Admin processing is still processing. Your submitted documents received and now pending for a review. "

Lets see how long this takes

    Hang in there man.

I was there at the embassy, and it was a mad house, especially with the number of people who were there for non immigrant visas. The embassy is simply overwhelmed by the number of folks showing up each day just for visit visas. I would estimate there must have been 300-400 folks just for visit visas.

  3. Well, I am happy to annouce my wife has finally made it here. She received her K-3 visa (passport and paperwork packet) on Sept 28. That is 13 working days (or 17 days) from the interview date, where they told us 7-10 days. By the grace of Allah, her POE experience was very smooth, infact we were done in 10 minutes. The border agent did not ask any questions from her, just from me as I had filled out the customs card and put my information on it. All in all a very smooth and pleasant experience. Wishing all folks, all the best and a speedy reunion with their loved ones. Thanks for all your support.

  4. Anyone else has an interview scheduled for October 4th? Would be happy to meet u in person. LOL.

BTW, what time should I get there at the convention center? I think that is where u purchase the token for the bus ride. Am I correct?

Once you arrive at the actual Embassy and go inside...........is it on a first come first serve basis...........or do they go according to your name, appointment time, etc?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello all!

I will be very thankful if anyone can answer this. I just recived the AOS bill from NVC. My question is can I pay the AOS bill and IV Visa Bill(which they will mail me later) through US Postal Service's Money Order. The bill says I can pay thorugh the Money order, but it also says from the US bank(confusing). I think they are talking about the cashier's check and NOT the Money order. Thank you in advance and good luck to all!! Regards, kim

Kim, I paid it with a money order that I got from a bank. When they say US Bank...........they mean drawn on U.S. Funds.

Make sure you are early, plan on being at the convention center by 6:30AM. Any cab/taxi can take you there from islamabad or rawalpindi. No bags or mobile phones are allowed, so get a file folder and they keep your phone for Rs 20, remove the sim from it. Then get in line for USA bus ticket, then get inline for security check. Then get in line for bus. The bus drops you at the frot of the embassy, where some idiot will ask if you are there for immigrant visa or visit. Then they will look at your appoinment letter and let you cross the street. Security check again, then wait in line to be let in to the actual embassy. depending on how many pendos are present that wait could be looooong, in our case it was two hours, luckly it was not very hot. Once they let you in, then the final security check and they collect your letter and let you towards a room, with 12 windows, where you will be called by name, pay attention as the american consulars have a dickens of atime pronouncing the names. There is no sequence once you make it inside, just wait and listen for your name. If you are there for K3 you will be called three times, first to pay the fees, second to submit the forms, third for the interview. hope this helps.

  5. I am happy to announce that by the grace of Allah, my wifes K3 was approved on Sept 11th.

She should be receiving her passport by courier in 7-10 days. Sorry for the late posting, could not get to a computer as I was present with my wife at the interview. There must have been about 10 K3 girls present, of which I am personally aware that 5 were approved on that day. We were there at 7:45am

and got out by 2:00pm. The questions were basic, who petiotioned, whats his name, yada, yada. I'll write a more detailed review as I have time. My Thanks to all VJ folks here, its been a journey. Wishing all folks the best and patience.

  6. Can someone describe the process after ISB receives the case from NVC.

When should we get the police certificate? Now or closer to the Interview date?

police certificate takes a while even if you pay them extra money. I would say from 3-4wks before the interview date.

    farah

They are supposed to be free.........BUT I got charged Rs. 3000 for them. Unbelievable.

yup they charged my husband 2,500 Rs, plus they wanted everything i.e. interview letter from ISB embassy, copy of pspt since my husband is in abu dhbai from 2001 they wanted his old residence visa copy etc etc. it was hell getting a police report from there.

Well, nothing is free, even its suppose to be "free". Sohni Dhurti Allah Rakhay, Kaddam Kaddam Aabad.

Thank you both Farah and Fareash

It cost my wife Rs 1500 in karachi, supposedly free...

  7. hey guys salaams,

My husband just had the interview at the Islamabad embassy and they said in four weeks they will email him wether they approve it or not for him to pick up his visa. :(

He had gotten in line at 5am and was out by 10:30am

my husband said that there were two other couples both from NY whose wife's received visa right there.

    Questions asked:

What language you prefer: Urdu or English

Does your wife live alone in the US, date of her last visit with you in Abu Dhabi, repeatedly asked date of marriage, what he does, then again date of marriage, name of petitioner, Date of marriage, where your spouse works, saw all of the pictures,

Since my husband came from Abu Dhabi they asked why he didn't just apply from there. Because our marriage had taken place in Pakistan so he had to have his interview in Pakistan for a K-3 visa.

    ok take care,

    good luck to everyone

    Farah

Congratulations... and hope the wait is short.

  8. Hello everyone,

I just have one other question. When the Islamabad Embassy finally sends the passport back via courier after an IR interview, are they still using a wet red ink stamp for the visa ? The K3 visa is actually a computerized sticker and I was wondering what the IR will look like.

I just saw this on the PIA Website:

All passengers travelling through United Kingdom and holding the following documents require a Direct Airside Transit Visa (DATV):

    Passengers travelling to USA

Alien resident card (green card) issued before 21st April,1998.

I-551 stamp (red colour wet stamp). This stamp is issued to passengers whose alien resident card is under process.

Refugee passport. However, passenger doesnot require DATV if also holding permanent resident card issued after 21st April,1998.

    Transportation letter.

    Letter of parole.

BTW, someone told me PIA has further reduced the baggage weight requirements for people traveling to the U.S. It using to be approximately 60 lbs and I believe now its 50 lbs per suitcase (maximum 2 per person). I will have to confirm that with PIA.

See post 4313 in this thread for the requirements of DAT visa.

  9. Hi friends.

Atlast, i had happy reusion on August 15's eve.

I reached Houston after a long journey of 28 hours. I opted the route Karachi-Dubai-London-Houston. Upto London, Emirates was my host and later Continential served me.

Immigration process was smooth. They took 1 hour inorder to complete the paper proceedings. NO question asked except custom point of view and confirmation of my destination address. No fun seen for holding Xray and vaccination record.

And well, after reaching home. My daughter came in this world to say me "welcome home daddy!" as Allah blessed me Baby girl on August 16 (just within 20 hours i have landed houston).

    Cheeeers

And i must, once again, admit the guidence and help provided by this great site.

Thank you VJ. Thank you VJ's.

    -Dude

    Welcome to america... and congratulations!

  10. Asslam o Alikum, every one, I am back to U.S. I arrived yesterday, but unfortunately I had to come alone without my husband :(. As you all know our interview was on July 24th. I went with my husband, and they did let me in, but at the time of interview they asked me to have the seat. we had to wait almost 4 hours before they call him for interview. Interview went great only 10 min. Asked him general questions of when the wedding was, where it was held, asked about my parents, him job etc. In the end said congratulations and welcome to U.S.A. and told him that there is some admin. proc before his visa will be granted but there is no problem with his case and he should get the visa one week to one month inshallah sooner ameen. so we are also on AP, I will be calling DOS to get the update tomorrow, hopefully some good news. its been really hard for me and I am missing my husband a lot. please pray for us that like others we also get good news soon inshallah.

Can someone tell me what is the number for DOS and what are the timings. what is the best time to call.

Good Luck everyone and congrats to all who recieved their visa.

Hang in there, wishing you and your husband a short wait, Inshallah it will be over soon.

  11. Hey Guys....

Sorry I haven't been on but I have been so busy. I have updated my timeline. Currently I'm waiting for DS230 and praying that they accept everything we sent for the i-864. I just want it to hurry up and get to Islamabad so that we can get an interview. Also just wondering when he go for interview what exactly will he need. Where do you get Police Certificate in Lahore and how much is it? Do u think its possible for him to be here by end of September guys? Our baby will be born that time inshallah. I'm so stress out. Good luck to everyone.

    Allah Hafiz

Do not want to sound like a downer, but my wifes interview date is in september, and our paper work was in islamabad in the begining of june. So, it is highly unlikely your husband would be here by september. He would have to go to the police station incharge of the area he lives in, to get the police certificate, its not supposed to cost anything, but you know pakistan. Also he would need certificates from every city/town he has lived in for longer than six months since he turned 16 years old.

  12. Did anybody that has traveled to pakistan get any vacinations before going? If so, what were they? I am going to swat in October and my fiance said there is not any mosquitoes around that time so dont worry about malaria. I just want to double check.

I do not think there is a vaccine for malaria. Your doctor can prescribe anti malarial medicine which you take like a week before getting there and then continue taking a week after you return. The medicine is nothing more than the actual drug used to cure the sickness. Malaria can be very hard on people who have never had it before.

  13. My wife and daughter had their interview today. Their interview time was 8AM. The interview went pretty well. She was interviewed on two separate windows and asked several ususal questions regarding how the marriage was arranged, when we got married, where did we get married, what do i do in the US, how much I earn, when and where our daughter was born, how often I have visited her, where have we lived together since our marriage, key dates of her prior visits to US and other place etc.

In the end, she was told that she meets all requirements of immigrant visa and has been approved. The immigration officer returned all her original documents along with receipts for collecting passports from AMEX. The immigration officer told her that she will receive her visa within a week.

I will keep you posted for any further updates.

I would like to thank all of you for your help, suggestion, support and for sharing your experiences. I wish all of you good luck in your immigration process and wish you a speedy and happy reunion with your families.

    Thanks,

    Sufi

    Congrats

  14. Hello everyone, Just been busy with the wife.....Talk about a culture shock. I just went shopping this morning with her and was it an experience, both for her and my pocket....LOL. Anyways, I'm trying to figure out if we can go to Canada, Niagra Falls etc. Are K-3 visa holders allowed to leave the us for a few days and come back without any problems.

Also, should I apply for Adjustment of Status right away or wait? The damn fees are killing me everywhere I go, employment authorization is needed to get a soc number???? Fees for that, Fees went up for Adjustment of Status. And fees for a multi visit visa for one year to Canada is around 150.

Welcome to America!, its a free country...

  15. Hello everyone, Sorry but I have been extremely busy with work, preparation for my wife's arrival, etc.

Well, here's the great news. My wife got her visa on the 24th from the AMEX office and left Pakistan on the 27th. She finally arrived through New York and is here with me right now as we speak....actually as I type. She is exhausted, hasn't slept in days and is sleeping right now. The journey was long and tiring. Anyway's, Thank you everyone for your support. I will be checking in periodically since this forum is an addiction now, however i'm sure it will be less often then before. Take care, and good luck to everyone.

Wishing you and your wife all the best, keep us in your prayers.

  16. Hi!

I was interviewed in April 2005 for the first time for my IR-1 visa, I submitted my medical and police reports. The officer asked me few question and determine that I need to submit the I-601 waiver and being put on administrative review for the first time. I went back to the embassy in May with my USC wife and submitted the I-601 with the fingerprints, I was called again in July 2005 just to submit the tax papers from my sponsors.

Last year in the first week of May I received a letter from the embassy to come for the third interview since my I-601 was approved and I received the approval letter from Rome, Italy. I went to the embassy with new medical and police reports, the officer asked few questions and said "Congratulations and Welcome to USA" then I was asked to submit my passport and handed a purple IV token to receive the visa via courier service within 6-8 weeks.

May 2007, I received a phone call from the embassy saying that, my security clearance has been completed and I need to send the tax papers from my Co-sponsor and they are ready to issue the visa. I contact my brother in law to send his tax papers so I can forward it to the embassy, he sent everything out to me within 3 days. I sent everything to the embassy by the end of May and waited and waited. After a week I received a letter from the embassy saying that my co-sponsor's income is insufficient and I need to send another I-864 from someone who is eligible. I contacted my lawyer and he argue with the embassy that my Co-sponsor has no dependents at all and he owns various business with the income of $36,000, I received another fedex from my brother in law including the new forms and the assets which was more than 5 times than the poverty level, I sent everything out including my new medical and police reports again since they were going to expire soon. I received another letter stating the same thing to send someone's else who qualifies to be a co-sponsor. First week of July I sent the new I-864 from my older brother($38,000 income) no dependents along with the W2's, copy of his passport and his tax returns. Last week I received another letter from the embassy saying that they need the I-864A and the proof of USC from my brother's wife. Total income from both of 'em is $55,000 with no dependents.

Yesterday I went to the courier service and sent everything out to the embassy, I asked the courier person when these papers will be there he tomm morning. What do you guys think what will happen this time and how long should I wait to contact the embassy. Your inputs and comments are more than welcome.

I hope and pray for all of us to reunite with their families once again for good.

So far you have complied with all their requests, so Inshallah you should be receiving the visa soon.

  17. Hi everyone,

My wife will be arriving in America next week on a k-3 visa and i wanted to make sure she'll be on my heatlh insurance coverage via my work ASAP. She has no medical issues whatsoever, but I just want her on it sooner than later.

My HR department told me it was required that she have a SS number before she can join the health plan.

My question is now.. what's the best and fastest route for me to obtain this? I think i'm going to file for her EAD immediately and then shortly after (once i gather the rest of the information, I.E. medical forms/supplements), I will file her AOS.

From what I've read it appears it'll take about 3 months for her to obtain her EAD, I then can go to the SS office and obtain her card.

Please let me know if I am mistaken somewhere in this process or if there is another route. Thank you all for your help.

I can't believe I am hearing this. Requiring SS # for medical is hokey at most. I was able to put my wife on my medical right after I got back from pakistan, and that was in january. Soon after that I received new insurance cards with her name on it. They covered her retro actively to the marriage date, and yes they did ask for the SS, but I told them she was not here and would not have one until all the immigration ####### was done, thats all it took. The medical insurance is based on familial relastionship and not immigration status or SS number, your HR folks are wasting your time. You should talk to them, ask them to show you where is says an SS # is required for medical insurance. Having any medical issues is also not a valid issue as they have to cover her... she is your spouse. Ask thern if she will be covered retro actively to the marriage date, since they are acting so idiotic, they might be setting you up.
