  1. Yesterday, we finally came out from our interview. Here's the experienced we'd like to share.

We arrived about 20 min earlier and were called in the room. The Officer was pretty serious and didn't say much as he flipped thru our thick file. He then proceeded to ask a few questions about how we met, joint documents, IDs, birth certificate & marriage certificate. Since we did not bring a copy of them, and he did not have some of them on files, he asked that we go across the street to make copies.

After, we brought back the copies, he proceeded to say that we were approved and should receive the green card in about a month. That was pretty much it. We were prepared with our photos, stories, etc.. but he didn't seem to want to hear or see anything else.

We were so excited that this is almost finally over!!! Well, at least until the removal of conditional status.... good luck to all!!

  2. Thanks everyone for all your reply.. I didn't know I had any replies until I signed on again today. It used to send me an email alert when I get a reply.. maybe I changed something... Anyway, we applied for the SSN card on 9-11. The letter said it can take up to 30 days. So we'll see...

Yes, we did check the SSN request during the AOS application or I130, one of those applications. It would make it more simple, if they issue a SSN card with the EAD. Anyway, we just received our application for the initial interview for the AOS... :)

    Good luck to all!!! :)

  3. ausqueen,

Well, my original application did not have the complete tax returns - I only sent copies of the first few pages and the last one with W2's copies as well.. I thought they will see the whole package at the interview.. but I guess that wasn't enough. I'm not self employed. I sent 3 years because, the previous 2 years, I was not working or barely working not meeting any POV line. And of course, I needed a Joint Sponsor which I included the 3 years.

I thought it's better to send more than less in my situation.

No assets or bank account info was sent as well.

    Good luck

  4. Sure it wouldn't her but I'm not sure if that would count much.. unless your employer doesn't put it in but rather do some type of conversion value to $$... what they really look is your total earning.. if you are above that poverty guideline, you should be fine...

for mine, i sent my last tax return, bank letter and employer letter... well, good luck!!!

By the way, welcome to VJ!!

  5. SHE DID IT!!! :jest::dance::thumbs: Wow, what a day... I didn't find out until I got home from work cause she nor I couldn't call and she didn't have email access.... anyway, it was a nerve wrecking day!! But yes, she did it and all went pretty smoothly...

    THANKS FOR ALL UR SUPPORT!!!

Here's how she told me it went:

They gave her a checklist but she noticed that there were a few documents not listed there and assumed they gave her the wrong one.. later, they told her they gave her the wrong one.. but she was prepared and had her own checklist (i made for her from VJ) and the documents they needed. Got called up for the interview with a guy who intensely stared in her eyes when he asked the first question (probably trying to intimidate her).. anyway, she stared back, confidently replied politely... at which time, he stopped giving her the tough look...

    Questions he asked:

He first asked her when did we meet, how did we meet, when did the relationship became serious, did we live together when I was there in Brazil for a year... looked through the documents.. and seemed to be satisfied so far.. but continued asking pretty banal questions as did you commit any criminal? Are you healthy? and that was it until the last part where he noticed I didn't make enough money last year 2006 and I would need a join sponsor but she said she does have a joint sponsor (my dad) then gave him the package for my Dad.. he took the documents then looked at her, then said, ok.. then checked a green card to give to her and told her to go pay for the Sedex to have her passport sent back to her!!! The CO didn't ask any proof of our relationship, probably because we lived together for over a year. She was also very nervous because, she tried to apply for a tourist visa twice and got turned down which never came up in the interview.

The CO was brief to the point, so was she. She was so nervous that she started seeing him a bit blurry in the beginning...

    Other Interviews:

She spoke to a girl in tears that was missing a police certificate and spoke with another one whom consulted a lawyer but had no idea about what to expect for the interview... I'm sure any of VJers would do a much better job at helping people prepare, now that we've gone thru it...

Anyway... it seemed endless but with perseverance, research, we can do it.... SHE'S COMING HOME!!! THANKS, OBRIGADO and may the light shine upon you as it was upon us!!! :star:

  6. Sorry to hear... i hope it all works out soon for the both of u...

well, here's my 2 cents...i also think your husband should get at least a PT job since the CR1 sponsorship requirements is more strict. From what i read, your husband will be the primary sponsor so he MUST be making some kind of money or have a big bank account and the joint sponsor or co sponsor is only there as additional income to fill any gap.

It's too late to go back in time to the K3 interview but don't mess it up this time for the CR1. Be more prepared. If there's a way to re-open the K3 interview with the consulate, then you should have his father's pension and cousin included as well.. though the cousin is enough for all three of you... good luck..

  7. We have been preparing for our K3 interview at the US Consulate in Rio ahead of time (i.e. Medical/Physical exam done in January 2007, police cert., documents, etc.). :clock: As I followed our petition very closely from the start, our case finally made it to the Rio Consulate recently on 03-14-07. So I decided to email Rio (03-19-07) to find out the status. Rio consulate has always been very responsive to my emails, but this one had a bonus: it included an INTERVIEW DATE!! :jest: We didn't even receive or send any packet 3. So now we are scheduled for April 19! Here's the response I've received from them:

    "

    From: Immigration, Rio [mailto:ImmigrationRio@state.gov]

    Sent: Tuesday, March 20, 2007 11:17 AM

    Subject: RE: RDJ2007XXXXXX

...your interview is scheduled for April 19, 2007 at 07:45 am.

Answering your question, yes the I-134 is the form used for a K3 visa; the State/Federal police certificates are valid for 1 year for us; and the medical exam is also valid for our use. Note that it needs to be opened by us only.

    Sincerely,

    Immigration Visa Unit"

I'm not even sure if we'll receive a letter to confirm the interview date and packet 4 on time. Assuming all goes well, my wife will be going alone and doesn't plan on picking up the visa. If anyone has gone thru the Rio Consulate, could you provide us with some info?

    • Visa payment at Citibank - What do we need in order to process the payment? Acct number, etc?
    • Can Rio send the visa via mail after the interview? If yes, what needs to be done?
    • Any other tips?

    THANKS!!! :star:

  8. Bom dia! I have a few questions regarding what is the best pro active approach to take post NVC:

I recently received the case number from the NVC and they confirmed forwarding our case to Rio. However, I haven't checked or confirmed this with them yet (will do this next week). I've read that some cases were sent some time in February but was not received in Rio as they stated. Has anyone experienced the same with Rio Consulate?

How long after the NVC sent the package did you contact Rio for positive confirmation that your case has arrived?

Here's an email reply dated January 10, 2007 from Rio regarding their process:

    * At this time, what is the processing time to receive an interview for K3 visa? What K3 visa petition receipt date are you currently processing?

AFTER WE RECEIVE THE PROCESS HERE, THE MAXIMUM OF 45 DAYS.

    Regards,

    IV Unit
