  1. I got my green card in December in my new married last name, but my passport is still in my maiden name. Will I have issues leaving the US? We have a long weekend in the Bahamas coming up this month and we are worried since they don't match. Of course we will bring the marriage certificate too but after everything we have been through we are scared to leave hahaha! Can anyone confirm that we won't have any issues?

dont worry about the forms. i-693 physicians are well versed in the documentation. carry all vaccination and medical records relevant to the requirements for i-693. They will fill out the paperwork and give you a sealed envelope to send to uscis. it shouldnt cost you more than 200$ for sign off. if its more than they are ripping off

But I already sent off my AOS without the I-693, our interview is in a few weeks so I will just take the sealed envelope with us to the interview?

I am going to assume that your medical is not shown as complete?

Yes a Civil Surgeon can just do the vaccination side and I know where I am in the US they do not do them but send you off elsewhere to have them done. Some of them will not just do this part due to the Dollars or over charge for it.

Civil Surgeon will provide the documentation so not an issue for you to worry about, it is what they do.

Where would I see if my medical is shown as complete? At the medical they told me it was all signed off and at the embassy there was no issues - the medical people just told me that I just needed to have the vaccination before doing the AOS, which I did. Ok so I will just take the i693 with me to the doctors and have him fill it out? I don't need to fill out anything? thanks!

  4. Hi all!!

Hoping for a bit of advice as I can't seem to find anything anywhere about this! I had my medical at the embassy medical place in London in January 2021, I needed the TDAP booster but they offered it there for like $200 so they said I can just get it at my GP for free. So the next day I went to my local doctors office and got the TDAP booster for free. I have since moved to the US and we filed for AOS in July and we have the AOS interview coming up on December 20th. Since my medical was done within 12 months I know I don't need to redo it, but do I need to get my TDAP vaccine signed off anywhere? I have my vaccination record printed out form my GP with TDAP and COVID on there, I also got the flu shot here a few weeks ago.

I have called about 6 of the doctors on the USCIS website and asked if they can just sign off my vaccinations but they are all saying they don't do that since they didn't give the vaccines and that they can only do the full medical? I have an appointment on Monday with one of the USCIS doctors who said he'd take a look at my form and try to help me but I want to know specifically what parts of the i693 he would need to fill out/do for me.

Also - does it have to be in a sealed envelope?? Do I have to sign anything??

I'm not sure if I'm missing something or doing something wrong here but if anyone can advise that would be great!

  5. Hi everyone, freaking out over here. I had a student visa denied December 2018 because of lack of home ties (214b). I reapplied in Jan 2019 and was denied again for same reason. Fiancé and I been together a couple years at this point but was not asked about him during interview , got engaged Oct 2019 and applied K1 Jan 2020, our interview is in London in a few weeks and I have convinced myself we are going to have issues due to my past visa denials, has anyone got any experience with this? Could they bring it up at my interview?

    No criminal history/past marriages/kids/overstays etc.

  6. Just filling out my DS-160, and came across this question:

"Are you a healthcare worker seeking to perform such work in the US but have not yet received certification from the Commission of Graduates of Foreign Nursing schools or from an equivalent approved independent credentialing organization?"

I am currently working for the NHS in the UK at a blood donation centre, but I have no healthcare qualification I just got trained in my role once I got the job, I am not a nurse and I have no qualification in healthcare yet. However, I do plan on studying nursing in the USA down the line and plan to work as a nurse there. Since this is a K1 visa though and I am primarily coming to be with my fiance, should I choose yes or no for this question? Thank you!

Agree with others on no issue.

I don’t think you will interview anytime soon in London unless you have some special circumstance. K1s are not being interviewed currently and there’s a lot to get through when they resume.

Thanks for the advice! We are part of the recent Milligan vs Pompeo lawsuit, the London Embassy have been interviewing the plaintiffs over the last few weeks and continuing over the coming weeks thankfully!

  8. Hi everyone,

We have our K1 visa interview coming up soon and I am very stressed because 2 years ago I applied for a student visa and was denied for lack of home ties under 214b, I applied again a few weeks later and was denied again for the same reasons. My partner and I were so gutted. We continued long distance and then about a year later got engaged and applied for K1 and here we are.

Before my student visa application I had 4 approved J1 visas for camp counsellor (where I met my fiancee) and then au pair. After finishing being an au pair I did change of status to F1 student and started school and after one semester I returned home to visit and had to renew the student visa which is when I got denied. We have been together for nearly 5 years and have SO many trips and pictures, but we are worried that my F1 denials will affect the outcome of our K1 interview. Has anybody had any experience with this? Thank you!

  9. Hi everyone! I am aware some embassies give out interview dates but for those  where we schedule our own interview (UK for example), do we think all approved cases will be shipped from NVC at once or month by month to allow those who were approved in March to interview before those approved in September? Or do we think it will be a mad rush first come first served thing?

    Thanks!

Do you know if we're able to reschedule over and over again if needed? I'm tempted to schedule once my police certificate arrives in the post, but I already have everything else I need.

My fiancee got an email from NVC after calling them, and it confirms the LND number but not the visa category. If I call in the next couple weeks, I'll check and see if this is enough.

I have already rescheduled twice and the woman was really nice about it she actually said no problem and suggesting me rescheduling it if I needed to with everything going on! When did your fiancee get the email from the NVC? We got our case number by calling but haven't had any correspondence from them :(

    Thanks.

Are you also filing through the London embassy? Or did you file with an NVC

Not sure what you mean. We filed the I129F with USCIS in January and it was approved April 6th and USCIS sent it to the NVC. The NVC then assign a case number and process it, then will send it to the London Embassy. But because the Embassies aren't open right now the NVC are holding everyone's cases there. If you call the NVC and ask them they can provide you with your case number which means you will be able to track your case progress online here https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=IV (not much movement though as the cases are just sitting at the NVC until Embassies open).

  12. We got our NOA2 on April 6th and have our case number from NVC as we called and were given it by someone on the phone, but our case has been showing as "At NVC" since mid April and we haven't had any welcome email from NVC and they of course haven't sent it to the embassy yet because of everything going on. We just want to know if there is anything else we could be doing in the meantime to speed up the process of booking an interview when the time comes. Are we able to fill out and submit the DS-160 at this stage or does our case need to be at the embassy to do that?

    Thanks!

  13. I also have my medical booked for June 25th and am assuming I will be there by December 25th, but I'm being told we can't attend the medical without a specific email from the NVC (which they aren't sending out at the minute). So I'm going to reschedule my medical for mid July and just keep pushing it back by 2 weeks until I get the email :)

The responsibility for the DS-160 is the beneficiary (commonly referred to in the DS-160 instructions as the "applicant"). The information you provide is about the beneficiary. So, if there is employment for the beneficiary then it is listed. When you complete the DS-160 it should as up to date as possible so it is recommended to complete it closer to the interview so that you do not have complete a new form.

Here is a tutorial from the embassy in Thailand that will give you a quick overview of what the questions will be asked. It is a little old, so some items have been updated with added information. Use this as a tool to begin learning about the DS-160 before starting.

Hi, thanks for the info but I've filled out a DS-160 5 or 6 times now for various visas so its not the form I am worried about. The question I am asking is whether I would need to complete a new one if my employment changes between submitting DS-160 and my interview or whether I can just let them know on the day of my interview that I am no longer working.

    Thanks!

  15. Hi there!!

We have just gotten our NOA2 a couple of weeks ago and are preparing everything we need to do once our petition has been sent to the consulate. We have not yet filled out the DS-160 but will be doing i'm sure in the next month or so. The problem is, on our initial I-129f I - (beneficiary here in the UK) stated my job and position at my old job, but have since been laid off due to the Coronavirus. I have just been offered a job at an Amazon warehouse for a 12 week period starting next week, but they have warned me they could end the contract at any time as it is a temporary position and the business needs are changing all the time. The DS-160 asks for my current employment situation, should I mention there that I am on a 12 week contract? Or that I have changed jobs since the I-129f? Will it matter if we send in the DS-160 with the Amazon employment information and then I end up being back unemployed before my interview? Will we need to fill out a new DS-160?

    Thanks for any advice!

  16. Hi!

Just after some advice! I seem to get a lot of people saying that my 2 F1 denials in 2018 due to lack of home ties (214b), will not affect my future application for K1 with my fiancé, but I haven’t seen anyone with the same experience? Has anyone been through the same thing? Do you think they will bring the 2 denials up in my interview? What could they ask?

I have been dating my fiancé for 4 years and was dating him during my F1 applications, however I was not asked about him during my interviews nor did i mention him. I had had a lot of J visas (Camp Counsellor/Au Pair) approved prior to my F1 application so I suspect they thought I did not have enough ties to home because of this.

We have literally thousands of pictures/proofs/texts/calls and were living in the same city whilst i was an au pair for over a year, so i am not afraid of the bona fide relationship part, I am more concerned that the prior student denials will damage our chances - could they think we were trying to get married on the F1? Am I overthinking?

I do plan to go back to school eventually once I am settled in the US. I am just concerned that they will see my past visas as fraud because I had a boyfriend in the states. Has anyone had any similar experiences?

  17. Hi everyone!!

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with a K1 interview after having F1 (student visa/s) denied? I have had a couple of J visas approved and worked as a camp counsellor (where I met my fiance) in 2014 2015 and 2016, and was an Au Pair in his city for 18 months. Then in December 2018 I applied for a student visa and was denied under 214(b). I reapplied a few weeks later and took more evidence with me but unfortunately was denied again for the same reason 214(b) for lack of home ties. We have now been doing long distance for over a year and have just applied for our K1 visa. We have been dating for 4 years and have tons and tons of evidence of trips, with each others family etc, but we are nervous if at the interview I am asked about my prior student visa denials. Has anyone had any experience with this and if so, what were you asked during the interview and was it an issue for you?

    Thank you!!!

  18. My boyfriend and I are starting the K1 visa process but are worried about whether my past F1 denials will cause the embassy to believe that I only wanted the F1 to get married.

I was an Au Pair in my boyfriend's city, so I have spent a considerate amount of time with him whilst there. After my time as an Au Pair I applied for F1 (via change of status) at a school in the same city and was approved. I then left the US for Christmas and had to reapply for the F1 at the embassy in the UK and was denied last month. We have since decided to get married so that I can be over there with him. I know that previous F1 denials generally don't affect the K1 process, but we are wondering if they could deny our K1 petition assuming I only wanted the F1 to get married (this is not true I have a 4.0 transcript and was working very hard).

I also do plan to study over there my original course of study eventually once we are situated, as I do not have a degree from the UK

    .

Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks for any advice! :)

Your F-1 denials for lack of ties to the UK wouldn't be an issue, but if you are subject to the two year J-1 home residency requirement then that would prevent you from obtaining a K-1 until you have two years of documented presence in the UK or a waiver of the HRR.

Forgot to mention I was not subject to the 2 year home residency requirement on any of my J-1 visas!

  20. Hi all,

I am a UK citizen and I visited the US on a J1 visa for 3 summers as a camp counsellor 2014, 2015, 2016. I met my US citizen boyfriend whilst working there, and we have been dating since that summer of 2016. I then got another J1 visa to be an au pair from March 2017, where I did 18 months au pairing in my boyfriend's city. I wanted to study in the US at a school in the same city that had a really great nursing program and also wanted to be close to my boyfriend, but we were not ready to get married so the student visa was a great option as I could study and would give us time together. I applied for change of status from J1 (au pair) to F1 (student) and was approved and I started nursing school in the fall of 2018. My boyfriend and I then left the US over Christmas 2018 to visit my family and I went to the embassy to get my F1 visa stamp, however was refused under 214(b), lack of home ties. I couldn't believe it as I had already started school and had been working really hard to keep my good grades. So I applied again a couple of weeks later and brought with me as much documentation as I could showing ties to the UK but the consular officer didn't even want to see it and denied me again. I was not asked about my boyfriend during these interviews nor did I mention him.

So fast forward to now, my boyfriend and I are depressed without each other and have decided to start the K1 visa process. I will still be wanting to go to school eventually once I have my green card but right now it is more important to us for me to be over there with him. We have lots and lots of evidence of our relationship, vacations, family photos, emails, cards, etc, however we are worried that my prior F1 denials will be an issue seeing as we were dating when I applied for the F1, even though we were not engaged at that point and have only decided so since the F1 denial.

Should we wait a little time to apply for the K1? How long? I have read people who applied as little as 8 weeks after and have had success but paired with my approved J1 visas I just wanted to know if anyone had been in a similar situation and had success.

I just saw him over Christmas but have not seen him since my second denial a couple of weeks ago, should we meet again before applying for the K1 to show that we genuinely thought about it and that he 'proposed' in person? Or does it not matter?

Can I still say that I want to study when I'm over there with him? I don't have a degree from the UK and if they ask me where I plan to work in the US is it ok if I say that I plan to study?

Thankyou for any advice! We are newbies to this and appreciate all the help we can get!
