  1. In the case of someone threating to rob you with a screw driver this come under the 21' rule if someone is within 21' of you and threatening you with a knife you are justified to shoot them in self defense. Reason, a person with a knife in their hand can cover the distance between you and cause you great bodily harm before you can effectively draw and fire you weapon.

As far as the escape mentality, I have never understood why it is that the law abiding citizen is required to run away from the criminal. They are the law breaker and should pay a penalty for such if that penalty happens to be taking a slug in the guts, well I guess he just chose the wrong line of work.

I have no quandry at all with dealing in such a way with a criminal.

  2. Hey John,

Oh yeah it seems I am always going to Ukraine at this time of year. First time was Odessa over two years ago and it was in the 60"s the whole time. Last year I was in Sumy and it snowed and was cold, February of this year I was in Sumy again was supposed to be really nasty cold but no big deal it waited until after I left. Was in Sumy the middle of September the weather was great when we got married. Rained a little (that's a good sign you know) will be going back again middle of January. Seems because they had a really hot summer that winter is coming a little harder this year.

  3. You asked for a link so here's one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Migratory_Bir...aty_Act_of_1918 Migratory bird act of 1918. The list has only gotten longer not shorter but ALL birds of prey are included with a fine of $5,000 curently some pidgeon racers in Washington state are being prosecuted for the killing of Raptors.

Of course laws are only ment to apply to you if you think you want them to apply and if it's inconveinient for you well go ahead and ignore them.

  4. Easy way to solve the problem. Get a real dog! Rats with fur are not dogs. Also for those of you shooting hawks I hope you know that it is a federal offense to shoot a bird of prey. Big fine and posible jail time along with confiscation of the weapon and or anything else conected to the crime. So Almaty if your wife gets caught shooting one off your back porch your house is forfeit. Finally ther are some upgraded choices in pellet guns Cabelas carries a 9mm model that will kill a woodchuck at 25yds. Or you could go hi tech if your area allows and purchase a suppressor for your 22LR

  5. Thank you everyone for your well wishes. Mom and baby are doing great Lena says he is a good eater :) No pics for awhile as in Ukraine they keep mom and baby for three to four days after delivery. So she won't be home until Sunday or Monday. Heck they won't even let her mom into see her. Lena says it's just like prision. Good thing is that they are in the same room so she can see him all the time. Unfortunately for me it will be the middle of January before I get to see the little guy :crying:

  6. Seva was born in Ukraine (that's why I said Sumy time) Can't wait to call the embassy in the morning :yes: No pics to post as I am here in the states and they are in Ukraine (yes it sucks) And since they keep them in hospital for three or four days after giving birth we all get to wait for pics.

  7. Congress needs to get out of their business as usual mindset. Free trade was and is a bad idea that is why congress has the authority to levy tariffs. As far as raising taxes absolutely the worst idea. When your economy is in distress the last thing you want to do is raise taxes and stop nearly all economic growth. If anything taxes remain fixed or need to be decreased along with all the BS social programs and foreign government give away programs. If those nations want to vote against us in the UN let'em it's just a useless let's all feel good organization anyway. As far as the war in Iraq the spending there is peanuts compared to the rest.

  8. Right now Lena and I are counting down the hours as our son is due on the 6th. Last week on Monday her Blood preasure spiked up and then went up again on Wedensday so they put her in the hospital. That's back down to normal but the little ####### has just been sitting there happy as a clam just where he's at. So we're hoping that something happens soon!!! We're both on pins and needles. Funny thing is that I was not near this nervous with my two older kids, of course I was right there not 5k miles away.

  9. Autism it a kind of scary thing and happens on a number of levels. For instance my son who is now sixteen has what is known as Aspergers which is a very high functioning form of Autism. In his case he doesn't see the normal social cues that the rest of us take for granted. So he has a difficult time making and maintaining friendships because whatever is in his mind comes out of his mouth good or bad there it is. When he was young he tended to fixate on things. For instance trains and Thomas the tank engine were something that he would focus on for hours. We thought it was just an ove zealouness about this subject, but then it went to Pokemon, wanna know how many Pokemon there are and what their different configurations are? Well my son could tell you in detail. Now on the other side of the coin those with autism tend to be very bright and creative. In first grade my son would illustrate a book and then tell me or my wife what he wanted to say under each picture. Stuff that blew his first grade teacher away. Even today he comes up with thoughts and perspectives that amaze his teachers and every kid that meets him thinks he's really smart, but hes the kinda strange really smart kid.

Sometimes its been tough especially when it comes to relationships trying to explain how to better relate to people and adjust your actions accordingly. Now an interesting thing is that ever sice he was little and even today pretty girls are attracted to him not only because he's a pretty good looking guy (must get his looks from his dad :innocent: ) but because of his sense of humor and that he speaks way above his age.

Why does he have autism? Who knows. Why is there so much Autism diagnoised? Another good question. All I can do is give my opinion. Which is I wonder if there really is more autisim than before or is just more conveinent to put a label on someone who doesn't behave in the way that someone else says is normal. If you think about it most of the famous people throughout history had some pretty major quirks and if you stare hard enough you might begin to think that well hey so and so sounds like he had (instert popular malfunction here) so sometimes I relly think that except for severe cases it's a conveinient label to make other fell better about themselves. Maybe their the one who are not normal.

  10. Having lived most of my life in Michigan I can tell you that I have seen the Great Lakes fluctuate a fair amount. Not so many years ago they were at a point that was three or four feet above what was considered normal and a lot of folks that built their houses too close to the lake or to the edge of a bluff lost them. Right now the lakes are at a all time low as far as recent memory goes. But this does not mean that it is not a point in a longer term cycle than has been recorded.

As far as the southwest or just about anywhere else getting a pipeline from the Great Lakes, all I can say is "FAT CHANCE!" The surrounding states and Canada would and will never allow it. So you folks that decided to live in desert areas that were never ment to support large populations, well all I can say is enjoy the sunshine.

Oh by the way I don't buy into global warming all Al Gores "proof" aside. There is also significant proof that by the year 1830 we were just coming out of a mini ice age and that it is most probable that we are just getting back towards normal temperatures. And by the way if there is such a thing as global warming you can't blame it all on mans doing as a single volcanic eruption buts more stuff in the air in one event than mankind does in centuries. Remeber what the weather was like for a couple of years after Mt. St. Helens eruption??

  11. A friend of mine has trained dogs for nearly twenty years, police dogs, helper dogs, protection dogs. drug dogs. According to him unless instructed otherwise the dog is supposed to act like a friendly dog. That means enjoying being touched and given attention. Only when the work commands are given is the animals attitude and attention supposed to change.

For instance a protection dog is just a friendly dog untill the protect command is given. Then the dog becomes instantly on guard with hair standing up. Next command and the dog will bark growl and strain at a leash. Final command and you better have your running shoes on cause that dog is gonna bite!! and they are trained to bite differt places. Arm, leg, groin even throat.

The cop at the airport is an excelent example of poor dog handling and giving confusing signals to the dog. As to the dog in the cop car, something is wrong in his traing or handling as this type of response is not supposed to happen with out provocation.

  12. Me American English and been busting my butt for two years to teach myself Russian just doesn't seem to stick. Smattering of Japanese from years of karate and Aikido training, some Spainish from having to communicate with Mexican laborers.

Lena Native Russian, some Ukrainian and 3+ on a scale of five for English

Jeffery keep plugging at that Russian Lena says it will come much faster once we're together.
