  1. I am an Indian citizen living in the USA since 2013 ( F1 then OPT and now on H1-B since Oct,2018). My Fiancee is a U.S citizen and we are planning to start my green card process.

From my previous question, I understand that a court marriage ceremony is sufficient to start my green card process.

We still would like to have a traditional ceremony with family and friends in India. And we are planning for it to be after I receive my Green card.

    My questions:

    1) Has any one been on this path ? (Court marriage in US and traditional marriage after receiving GC)

    2) During the interview if asked for traditional wedding pictures, is it okay to say that our traditional marriage is planned to be after GC is processed ?

    Thanks

    1. Yes. As long as the marriage is legal, it’s enough.
    2. Pictures of any kind are considered secondary evidence so don’t worry too much. Traditional wedding photos are good because they show other people too, (thus less likely to be fake) but just send a selection of photos of the two of you throughout your relationship.
    3. It looks like you’ve got lots of evidence- more than a lot of people! Good luck!

You can ask an admin to edit the topic.

Thanks. It is good to know that we have most of the documents.

Also, I'm new to www.visajourney.com. How do I get in touch with an admin ?

  3. Hi,

I am an Indian citizen living in the USA since 2013 ( F1 then OPT and now on H1-B since Oct,2018). My Fiancee is a U.S citizen and we are planning to start my IR-1 green card process.

A few concerns that have been bugging us:

    1) Is having a court marriage in the US sufficient for starting the process. We both are not particularly interested in having a huge traditional Indian wedding and will that have any negative impact on the application ?

    2) For the wedding photos can we just submit a couple of pictures with us holding the marriage certificate ? we do have a lot of pictures of us traveling together for the past two years.

    3) Based on what I've read co-mingling of finances is more important than the kind of wedding for USCIS and so, apart from below listed items is there anything that we have to combine ?

    a) Joint bank account

    b) Joint credit-cards

    c) Joint home lease

    d) Joint car-insurance

    e) Beneficiary in 401K

    f) Joint health insurance

    g) Renter's insurance

    Thanks
