  1. On Friday I'm going to Southend with my new camera (Canon EOS 400D / Digital Rebel XTi) to take purdy pictures :luv:

Oooh post a couple of them please. I'm from the Southend area and it would be nice to see some pics! Pretty please? :)

I'll reply to this post Friday evening / Saturday morning with some pictures :)

  2. Hehe! I used to have 2 guinea pigs, they were called Rodney and Dell, the names sound familiar?? :P I loved the lil guys! but after about a year or so, we had to separate them because they started fighting, I'm scarred for life now, one day they were like ripping each other to shreds and I tried to stop them fighting, big mistake! I should have put a thick pair of gloves or something, because one of them got my finger and wouldn't let go, and I ended up going to A&E and having 5 stitches in my finger, but I still loved the lil guys! :luv: lol, that finger print with my mutilated scar is on my green card now! they had to pick that one didn't they!

Oh gosh! I know what that's like - My two have been fighting lately (Fox ended up ripping fur off of Badger's bum!) and are now living in a cage that's divided right down the middle. It's awful, but it's because they're going through piggy puberty and so they're really territorial right now. I'm giving them their space and hoping that in about 6-7months I can put them back together into one cage. It's horrible, but I can't see myself giving them away just yet. I have a tiny bit of hope that they'll start getting along again one day! ^_^

And ouch about your finger! That sounds AWFUL! Piggy teeth can be very sharp and it's really rare for them to bite, but when they do....

  3. A Chinese woman has admitted she faked being pregnant with quintuplets to please her husband.

    934776.jpg

Qiao Yubo, 23, of Songyuan city, Jilin province, became quite a star in the Chinese media for her pregnancy.

But she was exposed as a fake when a doctor called at her home to do a check-up and she ran away, reports Xinhua News.

"The pregnant mom jumped from a window and ran away," says Mr Li, president of Changchun Puji Hospital.

Qiao later admitted she had stuffed clothes under her dress to fake her pregnancy to please her husband, Liu Defu, who had been in a car crash.

"I miscarried my twins after I fell down on the way to my mom's home, and I dared not tell this to my husband, who had had his leg fractured in a car accident," she said.

Before the truth emerged, Liu said he had believed his wife really was pregnant with quintuplets.

"An old lady on the street volunteered to feel my wife's pulse, and told me that she was pregnant with quins. Since I knew she had twins, I assumed she'd gotten three more," he said.

"Since I knew she was pregnant with multiples, I dared not touch her, even in sleep."

Liu has now forgiven his wife: "She was taking care of me when I was injured, and she didn't want me to get hurt again by learning about the miscarriage," he said.

  4. I've got Friday and Monday off of work (Good Friday / Easter Monday) and am completely stoked about a four day weekend :star:

So what is everyone else doing?

On Friday I'm going to Southend with my new camera (Canon EOS 400D / Digital Rebel XTi) to take purdy pictures :luv:

On Saturday it's my Dad's 43rd birthday so I'm going out for a family meal which will be really nice :)

On Sunday/Monday I have nothing planned, but it'll probably be more photo-taking really. Rest and relaxation I think

  5. FIFTH it says..can you believe THAT?? My son is in 8th and I would tie him up if he even *thought* about tryin it at HIS age!!! (well ok..he thinks about it...but, as his mom, I'm gonna pretend that I don't know that, Ok????) :P cause ya'all KNOW what I meant! m.

    How old is that, sorry?

  6. The Carry On gag "Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!" has been voted the funniest film one-liner.

Kenneth Williams uttered the words as Julius Caesar in the 1964 romp Carry On Cleo.

It was named the best one-liner in a poll of 1,000 comedians, industry figures and film fans by Sky Movies Comedy.

The rest of the top Top 10 was made up of:

"He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy." Terry Jones as Brian's mother - Life Of Brian (1979)

"Surely you can't be serious?" "I am serious, and don't call me Shirley." Leslie Nielsen as Dr Rumack - Airplane! (1980)

"Remember you're fighting for this woman's honour, which is probably more than she ever did." Groucho Marx as Rufus T Firefly - Duck Soup (1933)

"Don't knock masturbation. It's sex with someone I love." Woody Allen as Alvy Singer - Annie Hall (1977)

"Do you have a licence for your minkey?" Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau - The Return of the Pink Panther (1975)

"Is that, is that hair gel?" Cameron Diaz as Mary Jensen - There's Something About Mary (1998)

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here. This is the War Room." Peter Sellers as President Merkin Muffley - Dr Strangelove (1963)

"Nice beaver!" "Thank you. I just had it stuffed." Leslie Nielsen as Lt Frank Drebin and Priscilla Presley as Jane Spencer - The Naked Gun (1988)

"When I met Mary I got that old-fashioned romantic feeling where I'd do anything to bone her." Jim Carrey as Lloyd Christmas - Dumb and Dumber (1994)

    From here!

  7. I just want to ask if the TD/MMR jabs have to be done within a certain time.

Say, for example, my medical is the 1st November 2007 and I have had my jabs 1st April 2007. Because they'd be 6 months old (so any "certificate" would also be 6 months old) by the time the medical came around would I have to have them done again?

Also the same question applies for the Police Certificate.. If it's done now would it have to be re-done closer to the time of the medical/interview etc?

Vaccinations can be done at any point in time!!! The MMR is something that most people get when they are babies and it is still valid now! Most of the vaccinations they require you may already have, and if you don't, there is not time limit. The only one that expires is Tetanus and that takes 10 years! Go ahead and get all of your vaccines if you want.

You should look here: http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/...ccinechart.html to see which vaccinations you are required to get. And definitely definitely first check with your GP who should have records of the shots you have already had. My fiance has had all of the shots he needs -but his GP in Australia doesn't have record of them- so, he has to get them again.

As for the police check, you are probably better off waiting until your NOA2 to get that. Your NOA2 will take at least a month (depending on which service centre you are at). I can't remember if the police checks are good for 6 months or 12 months but either way...it only takes MAXIMUM 40 days to get one in the UK so you might as well wait until you at least get your NOA2.

    Hope this helped!

I had my MMR as a kid and I had a Tetanus injection at school about 4-5yrs ago (I'm 19 now) so I wont need them again then unless my GP doesn't have the records. He probably wont knowing my luck. I've turned 19 now so I wont need the Hep B jab either which makes me happy :D I just hope my GP has updated records about myself... I hate needles ;_; The less pokingofmyskin the better!

And yeah, I'll wait until I get that far down the line before I apply for a Police Check then :)

    Thanks :D

  8. I haven't had a medical so this £170.. Is it for the Xray, check-up and the blood test?

I know the vaccinations cost more so I plan to have them done at my GP before I get to the medical stage.

So much money though. All I keep thinking about is how difficult the US and the UK make it for people to just be together. Everything is so complicated, so long-winded and so bloody expensive! *sigh* </rant>

Yes, the £170 is for the entire medical --xray, blood test, check-up, etc. The vaccinations are a totally different matter and will be different for everyone. For instance, a lot of us have probably already had MMR (as it's something you get when you are a kid). NHS covers most vaccinations apart from Yellow Fever and stuff like that (but thank goodness that's not required to get to the US)! ;)

If you are interested in costs, I'm keeping everything up to date in a doc. I think it's interesting and rather scary so I figured I'd post it here for everyone to see.

Oh the Costs of Marrying a Foreigner

    US size Passport Photos: £19 = $37.54

    Mailing the I-129F to Georgia: £10.11 = $19.88

Mailing the I-129F to USCIS: USD$20

    Processing Fee of I-129F: USD$170

UK Name and Background Check: £10 = $19.23

Fingerprint fee to City of London Police: £15 = $28.88

Mailing the AFP police check to Dave's Mum: £1.40 = $2.70

    AFP police check fee: AUD$130 = USD$105

    UK Medical Examination: £170.00 = USD$336.01

    Total in USD: $739.24

    Total in AUD: $908.03

    Total in GBP: £373.95

Feeling when we finally get approved: Priceless

    That's quite cheap in total actually! Considering I read somewhere that it's £500 to bring a US citizen to the UK! o_0;

But yeah, still, so much money. And this doesn't include plane tickets, other bits of travelling for medical/interview, all the phones call made worrying about where your visa is at... :P

  11. Andres and I don't even live together but when he says certain words there's a clear hint of a London accent about him! He's always loved my accent and it's quite cute hearing him sound British just for that split second! I do love his accent though and I hope he does keep it no matter how much he says he wants a British accent :) He's my Yankeedoodle and that's why I <3 him so much!

Although it'll be me moving over there.. I hope I don't lose my accent. I like it. It's posh dammit ;)

  12. Helpful tip o' the day: practice becoming Amerikun by putting your dates in 'our' format, else it looks like you're not coming back til Dec 5. :)

I did that originally, but I want to keep true to my British roots dammit ;)

  13. We got 2 "female" pigs from the local pet store. We were assured they were both female. Next thing you know, we wake up to my daughter all happy cause they had babies. 3 of them. We farm two out. Next thing you know, BAM.....3 more. Can't get rid of those so I buy a bigger tank. 4 more and I'm done. Gave them all away one day and never looked back. I loved them to death.....even the horny big male. But, in the end, the constant morning squeaking for their food sounded like we had a million of them and I couldn't take it anymore.

They couldn't sex them right?! It's so easy... Males have really big balls. Females don't o_0; They all have nipples though so that's probably where the mix-up happened.

  14. We had a ton of pets when our children were young. Gps became a big favorite after we took a trip to Bolivia to buy llamas and the kids fell in love with some they saw there. The only thing is, several of them died from abssesses in the head. I don't know what causes this, but, in the many years since we've had them, there may now be ways to prevent them. You may want to ask a vet about that as a cautionary measure.

I've never heard of that before! Could definitely have been a genetic problem that your pigs had as more than one died from the same thing. Poor pigs :( Thankfully the only ailment my two boys have had so far is a little visit from the mite-fairy, but they're easy to treat and they're being treated for them currently! These little things hide their illness/ailments/wounds so well because they're prey animals that it's always hard to tell if they're unwell :(

  15. I'm sorry to hear about her saying no, but in the long run at least she's come out about her feelings NOW instead of 6 months down the line when you've both spent a lot of time, money and effort working through a visa.

Is there any reason why you can't go over there?

  16. A Chinese man is divorcing his wife after she pretended to hang herself as an April Fool's joke

It happened when Mr Lin, of Shanghai, came home on April 1 after a business trip, reports the Shanghai Evening Post.

"When I opened the door, I saw a black object swinging in the air. When I turned on the light I was shocked to see my wife had hanged herself," he said.

Lin immediately called police and the property office. Office staff helped Lin take down the 'body' while waiting for the police.

"Suddenly, she sat up, started to laugh hysterically, and said this was my April Fool's Day present," says Lin angrily.

His wife, Han, a 26-year-old actress, is always playing jokes on Lin as a way of keeping the marriage fresh. She says: "I just try to surprise him everyday."

But Lin has has had enough: "I feel as if I'm sitting on a bomb everyday. We're getting divorced!

"I can't stand the jokes and games anymore. She hides the dishes in the washing machine, or changes the lock on the door, so that I can only enter by giving the correct answer to some stupid questions, and so on."
