  1. I'm in the middle of filing a K1 Visa with my fiancé. We've received our NOA2 about a month ago and I also received a letter from the consulate last week. Based on the K1 Visa Flowchart it looks like we're on step 8.

What's confusing to me (petitioner) is I expected the beneficiary to also receive a checklist in the mail from the consulate. The letter I received (image included as attachment), seemed to be a copy of what would be sent to the the beneficiary. Am I correct in assuming the beneficiary should also receive a letter with more detailed instructions? (Why aren't they asking for my I-134?). This letter to me was postmarked April 12th and received by me on April 19th. My fiancé is in central Mexico so it is possible her letter is still on the way. Is it wise to wait for hers to show up or proceed with the DS-160 and interview with the current info?

Well, I had seen some RFEs due to the question 55, so I decided to check mine. Turns out there's not only a chance that I didn't check that box (still a chance I may have did that by hand as well as all the "n/a" sections) , but I definitely forgot to fill out the section 54, "circumstances of our in person meeting". I checked the box yes for question 53, but then didn't provide the details. Now I'm terrified 😭😭😭  We wrote a letter outlining our meeting and relationship in detail and both wet signed it, so I'm really hoping that helps get it through. I can't believe I forgot to write something in that box 😭😭😭😭😭

Good luck to you! The good news is it's an easy problem to fix. I'm trying not to be too hard on myself for missing 1 box on my 40 page packet 😆

If you answer 55 with a No checkbox, it will actually grey out all the following boxes (boxes 56 to 61), so you cannot fill them out, so you are fine in that regard. What CAN happen though, if in your "love letter" (answere to question 54) you mention a specific online service, in some cases even something innocuous as FaceBook, you might get RFE with "please prove this is not IMB" It was one of the reason why in my answer to 54 I was intentionally non-specific, mentioning we have met online, but without specifying non-dating community by name.

I see! I'm actually wrong about that, I just read my copy of our letter and I was also non specific. I do have instagram photos of our meeting but that's it. Sounds like since I haven't mentioned any specific sites and sworn it's not a IMB I'm okay.

Hmm I answered question 55 with No and left the rest related to IMB blank. I hope that's not a confusion to them. Good luck with th rfe, it does seem like is a simple fix.

I'm sure you're fine. It's ironic how I went above and beyond but missed the basic answer.

Did you mention Instagram in your letter to them? And yes, I do believe this is just missing box 55 that prompted this.

I did mention Instagram. Yeah I'm going to send this off today to get this squared away ASAP.

Do you have a copy of your original 129F? Did you answer question 55, or did you forget to  check that box?

Yeah, I just looked at the copy. I had "N/A" listed on all the spots about IMB except a [x] NO. for if I used one. Looks like this is a simple fix thankfully.

My plan is to make copies of the letter I was sent then send the info with some sort of tracking back to them.

i hate to be the barrier of bad news...but that is an RFE!...i have informed delivery...i got one today also!...our envelope are identical...from previous posts...the approval letter looks different in informed delivery...sorry...but best wishes!

You're right! Oof. They're asking my answer to:

Did you meet your fiancé through the services of an International Marriage Broker.

    [ ] Yes [ ] No

Do ya'll think I should simple answer NO or provide some context and information that Instgram isn't an IMB? (Apologies if this is off topic and needs to be moved to another thread)
