Hey guys,
I went to my interview at Montreal consulate in June 2019 for EB2 work based green card. My paperwork was complete but the nice officer told me she would have to send my case to Washington DC and did not know how long it would take for them to process my case. She did not give me any specific reason, as I have extensive travel history to the U.S. with my Canadian passport in the past with no issues and a clear record. I wanted to know if there are any other cases like me here and if they have had any updates since then. One year is a very long time and every time I, my employer, or my senator contact the embassy, we just get a boiler plate response that the case is still in Administrative Processing.
Also my employer has now filed an H-1B petition for me and wants me on board by July 9th. As you know Canadians can with an approved H-1B petition don't need to go to consulate for visa stamping and can get admitted at the border or pre-clearance area of Canadian airports. Do you think I should try this option or just wait until the COVID-19 ban is lifted and my AP is complete? Does being in AP complicate my H-1B admission process considering the fact that H-1B is a dual intent visa? I am just not sure how many more months it might take and I don't want to lose this amazing job opportunity.
Thanks for your comments and advice.

Do you give your VisaJourney username as part of DS5535?

Can anyone share the experience when they cross over the border/POE with the sealed package?
What to expect ?
Hi VRace, did you receive your visa?

It went well, got the verbal approval and Green letter "Welcome to US", I detailed my experience in one of the recent posts.
Status remains under AP but I received an email yesterday "Form DS-5535, Supplemental Questions for Visa Applicants" so plan on replying back.
Hey BkBk8...hopefully you will get your visa very soon. I have heard of this many times that you are told you are approved and then you receive DS5535 in email. I have also heard that in such cases they clear the applicant very quickly and issue the visa so hopefully you will hear the good news soon. I am just curious, are working in the U.S. ? if so, have you been waiting for the visa in Canada for like 20 days? that's a long time!

You will have the instructions when you get the conformation email.
You have to register to courier website for you and other applicants on your application.
Once done, Print the confirmation and bring it along for the interview.
I think this will also act like a confirmation of the interview date from you.
Below are the step you need to do after you get the confirmation email.
Thanks VRACE. I was completely unaware of this step. I finalized the registration now. Thank You!

No big bags. Cellphone will be taken at security and then you can get it after interview. This is according to the reviews written by applicants for Montreal embassy.

Thanks Kartinee. One more question. According to the DOS website we must register for a courier service as step 2 of interview preparation. I don't know what that is exactly and what I should do. I appreciate your help.

This is a question to the folks who went to the interview already. I plan to have a bag to put my documents in it and my cell phone. Is that okay? can I take in my bag and my cell phone?

Nobody got any beginning of june in our category.
Here is my list of applicants and CCs for Montreal Canada embassy waiting for ILs. Cr1/IR1 category. 🙏🏽
@MK2803 January 14
@alexander07 April 26
@Hermanl May 2
@AGNVMay 6
@ATD-Can May 7
@don_mar May 14
@hetakshpatel May 16
@MDQ May 24
@bigportions May 31
@Tonybaloney May 31
@Kartinee23 June 3
@mikebike June 4
@Parisa_1234 June 6
@SSJAIN June 13
@lilleahbeah June 18
I think there is a reason. EB-2 category is becoming full. Which means if the embassy does not interview the applicants by end of July or August the PD might retrogress for months (at least the month of September). CR1/IR1 do not have a PD date and can get a GC anytime. So priority for the next two months will be on Employment Based (EB) categories.

Hello everyone. Did any of you recieved interview date this month? It’s zero for us Cr1/IR1. 😐
Interviews are scheduled at the beginning of the month for the next month. So early july for August and so on.

Yes guys please share your experiences from June interviews. Especially if anyone was in EB-2 NIW category I appreciate it.

Oh I see. I wonder why they didn’t do that for me. It’s really frustrating that the medical appointment email doesn’t explain what we need to do re varicella, or do they do anything re varicella, that’s the grey area! As always in immigration !
And I explained this all to my family doctor
I did my medical....My doctor (whose office is just a 2 minute drive from my home btw!) only required TD, MMR, and Varicella vaccines. For varicella, he said he would take my word if I had chickenpox as a child. In any case I had taken all the vaccines listed on DOS website and had blood test showing immunity to varicella.

I can't find the posts from previous members about which hotel to book and how to go to the consulate from there. If you could find them please quote in response. Thanks.

Thanks so much! Will keep you posted then 🙂
There is absolutely no doctors in AB right? Just MTL, TO and Surrey correct?
Here is a list of approved Doctors: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/MTL-Montreal.html#med_exam_instructions

Hey guys,
Sending my I-140 later this month and then will be on the same boat! Can you quickly explain what the CC is? I am in YYC... So if I got it right, it means medicals in Vancouver and interview in MTL. Yay... So much travel for me and the fam... (EB3)
Puda, good to have u join us. CC means case complete. Once your 140 is approved ur case will go to NVC. After that it takes them 4 to 6 weeks to process your documents and certify that your case is complete.

It does not hurt to list all the documents you are taking to the interview again. Also please share piece of advice. Which hotel to book and how to go to the consulate (walk or uber?) .

Congrats! Glad it worked out. For Montreal, I bet the Feb CCs will hear about July interview this Friday, per historical trend. Please keep us updated.
Good for them. They get to be in Montreal during the Jazz Festival. Montreal is gorgeous in the summer and I miss it very much. I hope to get a July interview as well, eventho that's unlikely considering my CC is mid-March. Next week I will be three months into my wait.

Hi guys , just thought I'd update, London uk is super quick got interview for July 1st. Changing consulate to London and interview date all done well within 1 month.
Does anyone know how I can reschedule my interview Thanks for all your help!
Congrats. Super Fast. Don't change it just go go go....it will be worth it. Enjoy London. I wish I could switch to London as well and get a quick date. When was your case complete ?

EB3 also taking 5 to 6 months for the interview, I think only Montreal Consulate is taking long time to schedule employment based visa interviews. Can we do anything for that like contacting senators or anything else. Please advise. Thanks
Just wait buddy. Patience is virtue. They are busy that's why they take so long. Complaining to senators cannot help. I have heard of cases being expedited by NVC if they are working in the U.S.

Just a repost of the table. This thread is officially hijacked by EB-3 folks...LOL......it looks like EB-3 category gets interviews faster than EB-2 from Montreal.

We took both, yes. But interestingly enough they never even asked to look at either of those docs.
I live in Canada. I assume you are referring to tax returns made in US otherwise why would they be interested in looking at my Canadian NOA ?! Should I take it to prove my income and that I am a tax paying citizen?

Anyone got any interview emails yet? Usually they send the interview emails at the beginning of the month for mid next month. Please keep us in the loop.

Thanks for your response. I have sent them two job offers. The consulate doesn't respond to my emails or just sends a boiler plate response. One of my job offers expired already and turned into a contract to work remotely from Canada and the other is still valid. The 2nd offer employer has sponsored me for H-1B but that category is banned along with all immigrant visas. Not sure if the H-1B ban applies to Canadians as well just waiting to hear on that.
