  1. We are trying to ask consulate if they will except my 2018 tax return in lieu of a sponsor. We emailed LagosIV and received an auto response that they would respond to email in 5 to 7 business days. We sent email on January 15th and still we have no response. How can we actually speak to someone. A real person 2nd can explain what we can do it other options outside of a cosponsor.

    they ask for cosponsor

if she does not provide it,  the case is returned

this is nothing about the OP but the Africian embassies have seen too many fake documents and only want to see IRS or offical tax returns

so without a 2017 income level that meets the requirement amount they ask for cosponsor

they know we can not get 2018 tax transcrpits at this time

if she had provided the 2 years prior to support her income level and sent an email to explain the difference in 2017 ,  they might have overlooked 2017 being too low

but now,  they want a cosponsor

must also consider that she is by own adminission of child bearing age and income may dip again for 6 week leave of absence/ this was suggested at an interview in another embassy and stated the spouse may not find work here

embassies look at the totality of the entire situation

I did provide 3 years tax returns and a thorough explanation for the dip along with everything.

I agree it's likely due to your most recent tax return (2017) being the lowest of your returns provided, since it's so early in the year (not quite tax season yet, for 2018 income). If they are requesting a co-sponsor at this point, not 100% sure they would accept the 2018 return once completed, but definitely does not hurt to provide that, particularly since 2018 shows an upward trend more comparable to your prior tax years, which were greater than 2017. To be safe, I would still do what you can about obtaining a co-sponsor in any way. Doesn't have to be a family member or blood relative.

FYI - tax returns will be accepted beginning 1/24. I've already completed mine and am waiting to file, which the system stated can be filed no sooner than 1/24.

I will send they 2018 taxes and Wes asking if they will accept in leu of cosponsor. Or I just we start over. We don't know anyone who would sponsor him with me

since the CO said cosponsor , they are not looking to accept 2018 income

    they want to see cosponsor

your income went down considerably in 2017 (the needed income level for this interview and this is the concern at the embassy level/ they look for consistency

assests is a possibility / review what is needed in USCIS

if case is retruned to USA for review (takes about 6 months to be returned),  you will be notified and they may allow the 2018 tax transcripts which will be done by then or assests

    OR

if no cosponsor,  refile and at next interview you will have 2018 tax returns  and current 2019 income (if near the same level)  will be accepted

it is not unusual to have to refile in African countries

Oh I didn't know there was fixing it if they send it back.

So you were put in AP pending co-sponsor, not denied correct? Others I know who faced this with a lower 2017 income but a decent 2018 income have just decided to wait until they file 2018 taxes (within the next month!) Then submit that 2018 tax return

Yes you are correct. I they didn't ask for tax return but I will ask if the will accept it in our of sponsor

I know you're frustrated however you cannot just give up and adopt a defeatist frustrated mentality. Coming from West Africa myself, I know most immigrants from that part of the world have friends and family or someone they know in the USA who is legal. Tell your fiancee to help with that. On my first visit to the USA a couple decades for vacation I lived with the brother of a friend of a friend. I know signing an affidavit of support is more serious than just hosting someone on vacation however in the west African immigrant community friends of friends do sign affidavits of support.

That's how we roll, your fiance needs to step up and be counted. You need to see this through, the finish is in sight.

Thank you. We have even already married. We worked so hard to get here submitting a perfect and diligent application. We didn't get not one RFE and now this. He knows few people here. We are contacting them. Trying to find any ideas. Its heartbreaking

It's a possibility that they simply lost your financial documents though. I'd call and make an infopass appt and show an officer your documents before you consider needing a joint sponsor.

I don't know what an infopass appointment is. Who do I call. The embassy in his country. How do I do that they are automated

  8. My husband attends his interview today and was told I need a cosponsor.

We have zero options for a cosponsor. I should not even need one. My current income is sufficient. My past income is sufficient. I had 1 bad income year when I changed jobs.

Family of 3. Me, my daughter and my husband.

    2018 (37,000)

    2017 (21,000)

    2016 (35,000)

    2015 (37,000)

    I provide evidence of everything.

    All w2s

All tax returns except 2018 since its not out yet

    Last 6 months pay stubs

    A letter from my employer

Then my husband even brought to the interview my pay stubs for the time span between submission and interview.

I have no options for cosponsor. ZERO

I have no idea what to do and there is no person I can ask except automated systems 😥

We have been apart 2 years next month

    Hey All!

So we got NOA1 on 12/20. Had Biometrics 01/09.

Received request for initial evidence on the affidavit of support, saying my wife doesn't earn more then the poverty guideline for our household size (2).

Surprised us as it is over 300% the guideline. She was a student last year so we sent in; VOE and several paystubs confirming how much she now earns. However the RFE states we didn't show she earns enough.

Anyone else have this happen? or tips?

    thanks

I too was told I don't make enough to sponsor my husband. Our family is 3 people and I made 37,000 last year. I'm required to make 25,975. I have no idea what to do. We have no options for cosponsor
