Sharing some good news!  My fiance's visa was finally issued after 11.5 months in AP with DS-5535.  Now waiting to receive his passport from the embassy and book tickets to the US! Hang in there --- it still feels like a dream!

Congratulations, Waw what a start of 2019. Very positive news and vibes.
Did they require a new Medical, New appointment, and photos, or passport just sent for the visa?

    Hi,

Where are you planning to travel?

I know that at least one person on this forum was asked for an updated 5535 after the applicant asked for the passport back. (I suppose they thought he was going to travel.)

Also, we were advised not to try going to the US on my husband's tourist visa during the 5535 AP.

    Hi Sabrina,

actually, I did a couple of travels after the petition got approved and another one during the AP. was no problem at all. as I haven't got a similar warning not to travel.

Congrats ibnfawzi!  I am happy that your fiancee will finally come home to you.

I have a huge news to report too. On Oct 16 our case got touched on CEAC but I thought it was due to senator's inquiry. I had senators and congresspersons inquire over time with no avail. On 11/13, the case changed to expiring soon.  This morning, 11/14 it was back to AP.  I have an Indian co-worker whose husband's company relocated them to Canada due to uncertain immigration future and she was in the US this week. She asked if I heard anything about my hubby (she met him 5 years ago when he was in the US) and my answer was no.  5 minutes later I checked my email. There was an email from embassy...

The embassy's email starts with "Your visa is ready for issuance...."  and asks for updated forms and tax returns and medical.

We are IR-1 since submission Aug 6 2014!  I am US citizen for 35 years or so, being a legal child immigrant from Poland ages ago.  He received DS5535 in early Sept 2017 (his interview was late August). My husband is from Mali (native French speaker) and is a musician who traveled all over the world. The DS5535 went into volumes of additional pages.  It was tough trying to piece the travel history of concerts and tours and getting the correct English names for all countries to his native French.

We are working on getting all the updated forms ready and figuring out logistics of his travel to the embassy (1400 km one way) between my booked travel to Mali last 2 weeks of this year. Hopefully our visa journey is reaching its end and we'll finally be together again in the same house for the rest of our lives. I am so happy! I'd love to be able to fly to Mali, visit with our family (it's been a year since we went to Dubai in the summer) and just collect my husband and fly back home together. Fingers crossed. I am so happy today. For those still waiting. Never give up. One day when you are almost ready to give up hope, good news will come. We are not finished yet, but after 4+ long years this is the best news ever!!!

such great news after long AP torture, but when the time comes no one can stop it, I am thrilled when good news comes across, wish you a happy life together!

Got another update on 11/08. Sent out an email yesterday and got the automatic response but nothing else. Ugh they are just playing games.

remain positive hope thing moving along, I established serious communication as well, but strange that they stopped updating on their website after their replies, I am sure they open the file but no updated reflected the site, anyone has a similar situation.

So after almost 13 months of zero progress since her interview, my fiancee was contacted 2 days ago to get updated medical, my 1040 for 2017, and a few other forms to update since everything at this point was old. Insha'allah that's good news.

Good news indeed, it seems things will move along, did u esablish any communication with them recently, and this has caused the move?

Did you send an email to Chief of immigration visa dep at your embassy? What reply did you get and from where to find the email address? Its been 8 months now.. we contacted the senator but they got the same reply to wait, but how long no body knows that.

Just send an email to supervisor IV attention , use normal email that you use for your normal inquiry, and you will get a reply, either the same one you usually receive or additional information, and consider to do the same from time to time,  we got a reply same meaning as mentioned by @aqz17 and majority of these pending cases backlogged in DC , unless they do something in your case at the embassy level, send an email and likely you can find out more information over your case.

Very happy for you! But at the same time jealous... My fiancee had her interview in Casa on Sept 28, 2017. And still no updates 😢

What superior did you talk to? The consulate will not even talk to me because of 'confidentiality' of my fiancee's visa. And i can't reach anyone at USCIS.

If you are in the US try +1 (202) 663-1225

Or +1 (202) 647-4000 and an additional number +1 (202) 485-7600. talk to them DOS

if you call these numbers from outside the US you will be forwarded to NVC and normally they don’t tell you something that you don’t know already, try and let me know

I have been sending them emails and they reply me but it's the same automatically generated reply that case is in AP and can neither be waived nor expedited. I have heard that going to senator is of no use.. I have no idea what to do.

Hello, Shazyyo and @Sarac9  I would suggest considering @aqz17 experience and send an email to the Chief of immigration visa dep at the embassy you had your interview, explain the hardship you are facing due to the delay of being apart for more than 5 years, etc.... I believe at least they will send to the US asking for an update and this may move along the process and you may get positive feedback, don't just wait and being frustrated DO something. You have nothing to lose.

Thank you @SabrinaJerome you raised this question and Thank you @aqz17 for sharing your experience.  I have just recently tried the same approach, and it seems you are correct, monitoring any update during the forthcoming weeks if no update, then I will do it over again.  Good luck all.

    Hi all,

Been awhile since I last posted on here. Just wanted to give a quick update. My fiancee had her interview back in October 2017 (K1 visa - Casablanca Morocco). She had 0 updates until Saturday September 28th, about 12 months into AP (apparently the consulate worked that saturday due to the pending lottery visas). They called/emailed her and asked her to re-do her medical plus renew additional documents. Once she returned the documents, it took them 1 week to process the visa and they asked her to pick it up in person on Tuesday Oct 16th. She flew to NYC on Thursday the 18th (had no issues at JFK), we got our marriage license on friday the 19th and had our Nikkah on Saturday night the 20th :) Wanted to thank all for their support and guidance, my final advice is to be polite, extremely professional and courteous to the consulate when reaching out to them. The average processing time is around the 11-13 month range (in my research/opinion). The congressman we reached out to helped 0%, we found out more info on our own than he did. I truly believe asking to speak to a superior to escalate our case was the reason why it was finally looked at, I would strongly advise all to try the same. If any questions, feel free to reach out.

    Congrats, great news indeed!

What bugs me the most is the fact that some of us were either in this mess by bad luck or actually selected for some stupid reason.

I've seen people start the process with me n I even had my interview months before them but then they got their visa right after the interview. I'm not trying to envy them or so but it's so frustrating! !

I totally agree with you, for some reasons, or randomly selected to be places in AP, but have faith that everything has time, we just follow up on our cases and don’t feel frustrated for something out of your control

They do if it is legit and I've only seen it with earlier steps in the process. Such as when waiting for the interview or when transferring to the NVC at the beginning.

But with administrative processing step...not really. You could try your luck though.

If you're actually in a war zone or such thing try talking to a lawyer to see if there's something to file at the court that would push them to approve or expedite the process at least.

    Best of luck!

Thank you @Roor.M yes the file at an early stage of the process was expedite, but now when it comes to the embassy level, even if the illness hardship can be proved, not sure if the embassy consider it, to be very honest I can not see why this takes too long with today's' technology should not be the case, but for whatever reason this delay is technically made to reduce the percentage of IV annually. Vetting is something every one support but they could have handled it differently not to cause pain and hardship for people as the cases could get stuck at some point without any rational reason, I know people traveled so many times to the US
and renewed their none immigration visas couple of times but when it comes to IV they stuck as well.

    10 months!

They cannot expedite or push for approval of visa. The 2 things they can do "senators not congressmen" is to either put inquiry for your case or to facilitate communication between us and the agency where our case is stuck at. That's what he said.

s there any consideration for humanitarian related cases, and requesting expediting the process at the consulate level? Anyone have had tried? or simply they don't case.
