  1. We are waiting to get the fingerprint check to come back from Canada (had to do it by mail as my fiance is in Grenada). It is taking forever and the Embassy wants to schedule the interview. We would like to know what we might be up against regarding what that record may say. My fiance was arrested in Canada over a false complaint in a domestic dispute. All charges were dropped so there was no conviction.

What I want to know is if an arrest without conviction will show up on the certificate. And if it does, will he need any court records to show the case was dropped? The check will come back so late in the game that we want to track down any addition documentation we may need as soon as possible.

If anyone has had experience with this it would be very appreciated.

    Thanks a million!

  2. Thanks jlvr,

It's fine most days, just once in a while it amazes me how many things can go awry!

Kellon spoke with a lawyer in Canada today and she is going to follow up on the police certificate, hopefully if they think he has representation they will at least open the darned letter or request!

I am truly grateful that we are together while all this is happening though. I try to not stress because I can't imagine how hard this would be if we were apart. My heart goes out to all of you that are waiting separate.

Pretty soon we'll be in the states worrying about AOS and me getting into grad school and getting ready for his girls to come live with us. I have to say, I'm truly excited about being a step-mom!

    Cheers

  3. We finally got Packet 3!

we had to pay $74 dollars to get it from DHL though. ugh...one thing that was supposed to be free. But as we look through it, it's missing all the medical info that is supposed to be in the packet. They reference the "enclosed leaflet" regarding the medical, but never "enclosed" it.

So now it's a wait again.

    geesh.

and now for a little rant...

Canada still has not received Kellons request for his police check. So now we are out another $70 to send in another request and wasted 7 weeks waiting for it to get there.

The person who is our joint sponsor has not filled out the form still because he has questions...but won't talk on the phone long enough to tell us the question. I am in the process of finding another sponsor at the last minute.

the birth mother for kellons girls refuses to help us get birth certificates and won't answer her phone so we can get information to do it on our own.

If I get one more person trying to make me feel quilty about getting a fast approval through vermont...i may loose it!

brown paper packages tied up with string....These are a few of my favorite things....deep breaths, phew.

    Keeping my chin up.

  4. safitu wowwwwwwwwww congrats!!!!!!!! :energetic: hopefully i'm not far behind you.... my fiance's interview is next wednesday..

    but........

things aren't looking good. a few weeks ago the consulate closed due to security measures and it still hasn't reopened! i'm praying it happens to open but it isn't looking good. :(

    good luck to everyone else!

    Jen,

I hope they open up just for you! Hopefully things quite down in the country so the embassy will feel safe.

    good luck!

  5. Safitu,

Good luck on the traveling, I'm sure he might appreciate the extra couple days to say good bye and be there for the last time in a while.

Maybe you can print out all the AOS information and bring it on the plane....it'll either make you an expert by the time you get home....or give you a really good sleep.

I am going to the city tomorrow...packet 3 has finally arrived in Grenada via DHL. of ourse it'll cost us $75 just to pick it up...never easy is it?

But Kellon foun out that he can get all his immunizations for free...that's good since he doesn't have records of a single one! So maybe we just broke even.

  6. You are better off getting a co-sponsor in order to be on safe side.

I know i have to get a joint-sponser which will be my stepfather that live i the same household as me. but even with a joint sponser i think i still have to give my tax information along with the joint sponsor

    Thanks

    Alamir0115

yes you will need to provide information. I am not sure of the process when the joint-sponor lives in the same place, There will be others here that can help you more with that. But check on the IRS site here

    http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc156.html

to request transcripts so you don't need to worry about W-2's

  7. It's hard to answer your question about timeframes since you haven't given much information. The different service centers work at different speeds.

You can try to visit the US while the visa is processing however, if you are awarded the K-1 in your passport, you may only enter using that...so if/when you get it, don't come to the states until you plan on staying.

  8. I don't have answers for most of your questions since I have not filled the form out myself yet. But I do know this. In the instructions it states that you only need your w-2's if ou are submitting a photocopy of your taxes. If you go to the IRS website you can download a form to request those tax transcripts free of charge (i think for the last 3 years). The I-864 says that you don't need the W-2's if you submit those.

It was a pretty quick return to get those forms back too, within a couple weeks I think.

If you think you don't make enough money, then read the information about using a joint-sponsor for the I-864 (on the forms instructions)

Good Luck on the rest of it.

  9. I don't know if this will help you at all, or not.

I am applying for a K-1 for my fiance while I (USC) am living overseas. I am serving in the US Peace Corps. I have to keep a formal, physical 'Home of Record' back in the states. I use my sisters address.

When I filed the form, I stated that address was my residence but also included information about living overseas. I sent the form to the USCIS office governing that state (Vermont) I did not have any problems at that stage and received an approval.

Since I don't know exactly what all the information you put down was....I don't know if you did it the same or not.

    Good Luck in re-filing.

  10. I am beginning to fill out the I-134 for my fiances interview. The newest form I could find says it's exp. date is 4-30-07. Does anyone know if there has been a revision to this? I looked for it on the USCIS website...but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

    Thanks a million
