  1. You're right, it does state to submit a copy, my bad. I didn't submit one at the oath ceremony and they didn't ask for it either. Maybe they made the photocopy themselves, I don't know. However I did receive my passport in less than 3 weeks from submitting and I doubt it got delayed since I requested normal processing with states 4-6 weeks.
  2. Check with a different post office to see if they do the same. The form DS11 tells you everything you need and a copy isn't on that checklist, so it could be that the person you spoke to was misinformed, or maybe USPS needs to make a copy themselves but the location you spoke to has a broken copier or something. Lots of people go directly from their oath ceremony to a USPS near them that can process passports without any issue.
  3. You don't need a copy unless you want one for personal reasons. For the passport application, you just submit the DS11 form they provide you after the interview, check or money order for the necessary amount, and the original naturalization certificate.
  4. Received my naturalization certificate today. My oath ceremony was scheduled for 10:15 AM but we didn't enter the building until 10:45 AM I think. The only thing I thought was different than what I expected was the passport filing fee. I applied for both the passport and card, and on the form I was provided after my interview, it stated it would be $165, but at the passport filing agency after the oath ceremony, it asked for $175. I would recommend just taking a check and filling it out on the spot if you want to apply for a passport. I decided to stay and ended up waiting about 45 minutes. Good luck to everyone who's processing towards citizenship :) ================================ USCIS Phoenix, Arizona Lockbox ================================ UserName.........|GC-Date.|Sent....|Cashed..|NOA.....|Fprints.|In Line.|Int ltr.|Intrvw..|Oath....|Field Office.|NBC/IOE Bella_28.........|02/26/13|01/10/18|01/12/18|01/17/18|02/05/18|06/25/18|06/30/18|07/30/18|08/23/18|San Jose, CA.| tEe328cEe........|--/--/--|02/27/18|03/01/18|--/--/--|03/23/18|--/--/--|09/11/18|10/15/18|--/--/--|San Jose, CA.|IOE UserName.........|GC-Date.|Sent....|Cashed..|NOA.....|Fprints.|In Line.|Int ltr.|Intrvw..|Oath....|Field Office.|NBC/IOE ================================== USCIS Online Filing ================================== UserName.........|GC-Date.|Sent....|Cashed..|NOA.....|Fprints.|In Line.|Int ltr.|Intrvw..|Oath....|Field Office.|NBC/IOE snackqueen.......|12/12/12|11/13/17|11/13/17|11/13/17|11/27/17|--/--/--|03/21/18|05/21/18|06/14/18|San Jose, CA.|IOE Indicatio........|07/08/14|12/11/17|12/11/17|12/11/17|12/27/17|--/--/--|05/18/18|06/22/18|08/23/18|San Jose, CA.|IOE psychedelicx.....|02/22/12|01/22/18|01/22/18|01/22/18|02/08/18|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|San Jose, CA.|IOE tradishd.........|02/22/10|01/28/18|01/28/18|01/28/18|02/22/18|--/--/--|10/04/18|11/09/18|11/15/18|San Jose, CA.|IOE teshah...........|02/27/15|01/31/18|01/31/18|02/01/18|02/23/18|--/--/--|08/01/18|09/05/18|10/25/18|San Jose, CA.|IOE mav11235.........|04/23/15|02/08/18|02/09/18|02/09/18|02/26/18|--/--/--|08/18/18|09/21/18|11/15/18|San Jose, CA.|IOE évariste.........|03/14/12|02/09/18|02/09/18|02/09/18|03/02/18|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|San Jose, CA.|IOE Shaup............|08/15/10|02/24/18|--/--/--|--/--/--|03/20/18|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|San Jose, CA.|IOE srays4all........|06/03/13|03/06/18|03/06/18|03/07/18|03/29/18|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|San Jose, CA.|NBC Generic1.........|05/22/15|03/21/18|03/21/18|03/24/18|04/10/18|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|San Jose, CA.|IOE Bandaria.........|06/24/15|03/27/18|03/27/18|03/27/18|04/03/18|--/--/--|10/24/18|11/28/18|--/--/--|San Jose, CA.|IOE SamMaj...........|07/02/13|04/03/18|04/03/18|04/07/18|04/14/18|--/--/--|10/31/18|12/05/18|--/--/--|San Jose, CA.|IOE thilimaa.........|05/07/15|04/20/18|04/20/18|04/20/18|04/25/18|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|San Jose, CA.|IOE cococandy........|07/22/15|04/23/18|04/23/18|04/23/18|05/04/18|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|San Jose, CA.|IOE geff44...........|07/22/15|05/10/18|05/10/18|05/10/18|05/30/18|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|San Jose, CA.|IOE mdashali.........|08/13/13|05/22/18|05/22/18|05/26/18|06/12/18|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|San Jose, CA.|IOE nikha............|09/16/15|06/18/18|06/18/18|06/21/18|06/26/18|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|--/--/--|San Jose, CA.|IOE UserName.........|GC-Date.|Sent....|Cashed..|NOA.....|Fprints.|In Line.|Int ltr.|Intrvw..|Oath....|Field Office.|NBC/IOE
  5. For those who applied for a passport at the Oath Ceremony, did you staple the passport photo before getting there, or do you need to simply provide the photo to them and they'll staple it?

    OCI Renunciation Timeline

Hi all, could I ask anyone who's gotten to OCI card in the US how long the entire process took? I live in SF jurisdiction so I'm expected to first renounce, then apply for the OCI card. I didn't see any timelines so I was wondering what a typical wait might be like. Also, when I send in my Indian passport, will they keep it or will it be returned with a cancelled stamp? I think that before Cox & Kings Global Service handled the OCI, Travisa would cancel it and return the Indian passport?
  7. Had my interview today. My interview was for the late afternoon and I went 30 minutes prior to the listed time on the letter, though I still waited an hour to have my actual interview. Once I was called in I had to take an oath to promise to only speak the truth for the duration of the interview, and right after that the interview began. My agent administered the civics test first, and during this time I think she typed out all of my responses to her questions. Normally I would've thought they'd just check a box to say if we got the answer right or not, but I found this kind of interesting. After that, I was asked to speak a sentence, and then finally write a sentence that they said on the touch screen device. After this, she went over all the information submitted on our N-400, such as name, DOB, marital status, immigration, etc. At the end of the interview, she said she would be recommending me for approval and gave me a form called 'Naturalization Interview Results', and also mentioned that there is space in the November oath ceremony (Nov 15) if I was interested. I'm not sure if they offered it because they don't have December oath ceremonies or if they normally do this, but I chose to accept her offer and scheduled my oath ceremony for next week. At this point, I got another form/packet that I was told to fill out if I wanted to apply for my passport at the oath ceremony. I also had to wait about 15 minutes after my interview for another agent to print out my oath ceremony letter since it wouldn't arrive in time if they mailed it normally. Overall, more than happy with my experience. Hardest part is just the months of wait.
  8. My interview date was set exactly 5 weeks after I got my email. Congrats!
  9. Wouldn't it be better to just take the naturalization certificate from the oath ceremony along with passport forms and take them to a local post office? I feel like that would save some time and be a lot less hectic.
  10. It took me 3 days to see the letter online after the portal updated, and then one week after that, I got a paper mail with the physical copy of the interview. Totally normal.
  11. Thanks, this is helpful. I made a mistake on my N-400 on the travel history section so I'll try and make it known before the interview starts.
  12. I hope that's the case. Should I try and let the agent know right away after I give the oath to say the truth? I wouldn't want to be questioned about it and then try to explain in response, but rather let them know before hand.
  13. That's what I originally thought when filling my travel information out, but isn't that a trip within a trip? Like, let's say I leave the U.S. on 10/10/2018 and return on 10/30/2018. During this time, I visit France, Singapore, and South Africa. Regardless of whether I spend 24 hours or more in each of these countries, don't I need to mention that these are all countries I've visited since depending on how you look at it, I basically took one trip that was 20 days long? I'm honestly confused by what constitutes a trip.
  14. Ahh okay. In the past 5 years I've made one two week long trip, but I had a layover in between my final destination and ended up visiting this country (Singapore) while waiting for my flight. I did not include it in the countries I traveled to because I spent at most 2-3 hours while waiting for my next flight, but I did receive a stamp on my passport which I'm now worried might be an issue. I submitted the additional document on the portal but I'm curious what they'll think of it.
