  1. I got my EAD card last week in mail. However, my AP was approved the day before, and I haven't received it yet. Is that normal, or should I contact someone ASAP or wait for it to come? It's been 2 weeks since the approval. We are getting ready to get tickets to fly back to Finland for our wedding ceremony, and I should have the papers on hand by then

Or can I just use the e-mail that it's been approved going out of the country? :innocent:

  2. I don't want to start another thread, so I'm asking for a little info on this one...

My husband and I just visited the local SSA and I was able to apply for a SSN, but ONLY with my maiden name. We presented them with the passport + K-1-visa + I-94 + birth certificate (all with my maiden name) and our marriage certificate (in order to apply with my married name).

The clerk said she couldn't enter my married name, until after I get my GC, because my married name isn't validated or something for INS. Isn't marriage cert enough?? I need the SSN, so I agreed to use my maiden name, but I am married and want to be known by my husband's name.

Can I use my married name anywhere now? I have to open an account, I have to be added to my husband's insurance and what not. We filed the AOS under my married name, but since the basic information = SSN is under my maiden name, will it make things more difficult?

  3. Thank you so much for your congratulations everyone (L) It now feels like a huge weight was lifted off our shoulders.

rambaldi: Our interview in the Finnish consulate wasn't exactly a model-case. I think it was because they allowed my SO to be present at the interview, which, first of all, took place in the waiting room, second, by a Finnish person and in Finnish!!! (Luckily, or in purpose, the waiting room was empty by then)

The questions she asked me then, were:

    1. When and where did we meet (followed by talk of how communications and meeting have changed:online etc.)

    2. Asked if the man sitting behind me was my fiance :P

    3. Asked about our future hometown

    4. Asked why we decided to get married in US instead of Finland (followed by talk about how stupid it was to change the CR-1-process :P

    5. My profession, SO's profession

    6. Checked out fiance's I-134 and said he seemed to be well-to-do... (I had no idea if that was a question, so I kept quiet :P)

And that's that. No need for photos or e-mail etc. (Altho we had all of those just in case)

  4. Sorry to report this so late, but since my fiance was here with me, I kinda forgot

My fiance and I had the interview in the Finnish Consulate last Wednesday (Sept. 5th) and got approved the same day :dance::dance: (I know, I will update the timeline  ... )

I'm now officially a K-1 visa holder, and will soon be travelling to marry my sweeteheart and start our life together.

Visajourney has been a great help to us. And I wish all of you, our fellow April-filers best of luck and may your turn come soon

  5. I'm glad I found our brothers in arms here. I just got a mail from the Embassy, our interview is scheduled for Sept 5th.:dance::dance:

As it happens, my SO is here that week... WooooT!!!:dance::dance:

I undestood that it is allowed for him to join me in the interview, right?

Anyway, about our timeline, we got our NOA2 July 27th, took about a week to go to NVC, another to be sent to Finland. Embassy here responded in a few days from when they received it, with package 3. They move fast here :D

  6. A friend of mine is also applying for a K-1 visa and her fiance had asked for the I-134 (Evidence of support form) from an immigrant officer, who told him that the I-134 is a "Mickey Mouse one" and she/he wrote a "better one".

What are people's experiences with I-134? I didn't even know there were other forms applicable. And why would they still insist on using I-134 if it is such a joke?

  7. Grats Kittybear! That is awesome news! Did you get an email or just see a change of status on the website?

    ~ Eka

Thank you!!! :D Well, we got a legit touch on 27th, but no change in status, according to the USCIS site. I woke up in Europe this morning, checked out touches/status = no change. In the afternoon, Europe-time ;) I checked again, and first noticed the touch on 28th (Saturday!!!) and then checked the status, it said approved on 27th!!

When I checked my e-mail, sure enough, there was an e-mail from CRIS. So I'm 100% sure yours isn't that far away...it might be approved already!! :D

Thanks everyone for the congrats!! (F)(F)(F)

Your time is near, I'm sure of it !!! :dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing:

  8. Well what 4 then? maybe more that we haven't heard from yet. :):):):)

    Wioombeen

We're joining the relieved choir. We were approved on 27th, but the website didn't show the approval until today... We're so terribly happy, and I will update our timeline. And we wish speedy approval to everyone who still haven't received it. It will come, very SOON!!!!
