Very insightful post indeed. I am always puzzled how people scam the system. With how long it is taking, it is incredible how lies are still being told.

Those kind of people make me feel more upset, good people gets refused and those liars scam the consuls with fake papers and obtain visa and overstay in USA or Canada that’s why they don’t trust too much. 😓

You don't say how much you earn per year? Thats a pretty big factor in deciding if you will overstay or not.

Around us 15,300 per year in the private company, now in my won business there’s no a stable mount of money per year cuz depends of tourists we receive on cruiser ships

To continue playing devil’s advocate: Plenty of people who have been well educated and live like kings in less developed countries have taken a step back in lifestyle to live in the US, usually factors like personal safety, education opportunities for kids etc play a role in such decisions.

Sorry but not my case, not everybody in DR are corrupted 🤗

I personally know of people from the DR (a beautiful country that I love) who separate from family to take advantage of US opportunities. There is nothing wrong with you not knowing anyone who does do it. But I can attest that is does happen more than you think.

I know many stories of Dominicans who left their families behind, I was educated very well and I don’t have that thought. That’s why Canada, USA and countries from Europe do not trust in Latinos, basically I live like a king in my country but I know CO don’t see it in that way.

Also, many times when a person feels that the vetting process is unfair to the point where the system suspects a person is not sincere in there intentions are not looking at it from a proper perspective. The few bad people can indeed make things bad for the good. To give you an example, you don't lock your doors at night because of the millions of people who DON'T want to break into your house... you lock your doors for the small few who do.

You’re correct. Well next time we will request both... let’s der if both are accepted or refused lol.

    1. This applicant wants to travel to the USA as a tourist for the first international trip? WHY

Every one can choose the desired destination.

    Quote

    2. Traveling alone to the USA leaving family behind for vacation.

    Quote

didnt asked me that but on hands i had the employment letter of my partner which specific she got a new job since 3 months so our vacations didn’t match this year.

These two factors would be major. Then, I would look at finances and other ties back home.  (well, if I was a CO) maybe could every CO thinks diferente

    Quote

Has their own business but is also working part-time? HMMMMM that means own business is not doing so good. Then how can the applicant be able to afford a 1st international trip to

    the USA?

They didn’t asked me for proof. But as other said anyone can fake documents but not my case.

thabks for reply but next time I’ll go with partner to request visa again, maybe a couple of years. The facts I have two jobs that doesn’t mean im

getting bad in my own business.

you mentioned visiting cousin & vacation (now).

Question is "how did your cousin arrive at the US? "

My cousin is US citizen , he was born in USA, his father was US citizen. In the form I put tourism purpose.

So now, after four pages of this thread, we finally learn the purpose of OP's visit is to see a cousin in Long Island.  This key piece of information would have been very helpful to know upfront.  If the CO knew this important fact, it may have been the primary reason for the denial.

    Nobody asked 😊

I didn't see you mention if you were meeting someone here such as relatives or close friends and what is it that they do for a living.

My puropose to go to Long Island was visit a cousin and do some tourism there.

For example, anyone can write a letter of employment on their home computer, create their own letterhead, and print it out.  People here on VJ have admitted to presenting forged documents at a visa interview before (not implying any of your documents were forged).

I’m not that kind of person.

is very sad because of bad intentions from another people. We truthfull tourist pays that and some consuls thinks we’ll overstay

  8. 41 minutes ago, Jorgedig said:

And in your culture, is it typical to travel for pleasure without your spouse?

No is not normal in all culture that, but if she asked me for documents she would have that answer, I was prepared for that question.

If you ONLY want to VISIT as a tourist for a vacation, why don't you take a vacation somewhere else?

I wanted to visit Long Island, well USA won’t go, I better try another country next year.

  9. 51 minutes ago, Jorgedig said:

So property ownership may be considered a weaker tie for your country's consulate.  People can continue to own property while overstaying...

Give me some examples of strong ties... cuz before applying I Read the checklist of supporting documents.

I’m Not trying to be rude with this but

now that checklist was a waste of time.

properties for them I can sell it or manage from outside.

for them I can left  behind my wife.

for them i can left behind my current job and studies, on the form I put the quantity of money I earn per month, i don’t think a people with neurons Working properly will leave an office for being washing dishes or picking garbage i don’t know the criteria of visa officer but seriously that young lady didn’t drink her coffee at the morning.

so what kind of ties can be strong for them ?

  10. 25 minutes ago, Jorgedig said:

The forms will be the same for every country.  It does ask about marital status, address history, employment and education, monthly income, family ties, past travel outside of country of residence, etc.

In the form the only thing missing was If I own Proprieties.

maybe I have an answer they didn’t expect it

  11. 1 hour ago, old-fella said:

not to be rude. I am putting few things for you to think and may be answer if possible. I don't sugarcoat so this may sound rude to you. Sorry for that

    Few simple questions:

You said you do not have travel history. And you applied for US Tourist visa that too alone leaving your husband/bf behind.

What is your reason for a tourist visa to the US?  (if I am going on vacation, I want my wife to be with me. I want a vacation with my family. I ain't going on vacation alone)

Do you have relatives/family living in the US? If so how did they arrive in the US?

Did you have a tentative travel plan? Like where you wanted to go or do in US?

Did you had enough money to support that travel plan (please don't say, you have that in the credit card. I have a credit card with a 50k$ limit but that is not the money I have)

what sort of business do you have?

How long have you been working?

There are too many things that come into play for a tourist visa. It's your responsibility to prove you won't stay back or forgot to return home country after you land in America.

For that planned vacations I was going alone cuz my partner vacations are in January, mine are in summer. Our vacations from job doesn’t match.

    I know saying “I won’t star illegally” won’t work.

I think the thing that you're missing is that it is up to YOU to prove to USCIS that you aren't going to overstay. Owning your own business means that you can arguably do it anywhere, including the United States. That's not a strong enough tie.

They will always err on the side that you will overstay. It is YOUR responsibility to prove, without a doubt, that you will not.

    What’s a strong tie ?

    Here's your list

employment letter- letter from who? You? You say you have a business if you work outside of that business they may think it's not doing so well you needed another job.

bank letter and statements of past 6 months. Normally good depending on how much you have in it and if it matches what you make.

common law certificate Spouses are left behind regularly

    House ownership papers Normally good

business registration paper- You can run a business from anywhere in the world

university letter Are you in school now?

car ownership paper Cars can be sold

3 degrees of my known languages Well that is not going to help you

See how easy it is to pick apart your papers. They don't need that most of the time because you should have put all that info in your application.

-A letter of a current job in a company, yes besides that job I administrate my own business , my sister take care of sales.

-in good in my financials, good enough to pay a hotel and care about myself during my vacations.

-I’m not kind of that person who left a behind, I don’t know others, they cannot think all people do the same. Bad for consuls.

-the business I run I must be in person cuz is affiliated to an association at beach that normally requires my presence and my taxes payments that I must sign.

-in finishing my career, at the interview she asked me about it, she asked how much left me to finish, I answer “8 months”

In the from there’s no question about ownership house, business, etc....

anyway i I feel up to reapply i will, and ask for advise here.

    thanks.

Seems like good ties, all can say is that the embassy is not required to look at any documents.

Do you have any travel history? Ever been to the US before or other countries? That can be beneficial also

I don’t have travel history, I don’t travel to my neighbors countries cuz of security reasons, I live in Dominican Republic, I’ve seen those  consuls  ask for papers when they care about it, they focus more when you previous traveled to Canada or Europe those countries that requires visa.

i can’t appeal for that decision ? Or next time should give my documents even if they don’t ask for it??

    4 minutes ago, Boiler said:

The information they need is part of the application, that would include I think your employments details and qualifications.

I did have most of the above but I was applying for an Immigrant Visa.

That American consulate in my country is a joke, looks like they have a limit visa approval for day or just depend of their mood.

  15. 3 minutes ago, Redheadguy03 said:

Ok, so that means you didn't prove that you have ties to your country. Property, family, a job a spouse. Things that would make it so you have to return.

What all did you submit? Do you have any of the things I listed?

    My supporting documents was:

    employment letter

bank letter and statements of past 6 months.

    common law certificate

    House ownership papers

    business registration paper

    university letter

    car ownership paper

3 degrees of my known languages

during the interview she never asked me for papers... nothing and that’s so unfair to me that they don’t ask for documents and gave a refusal arguing that I don’t have home ties.

  16. 3 weeks ago I got my interview for b1 b2 visa, the consul a young lady asked me 12 questions, I answered her very sure no nervous, she only said “you don’t qualify” she only gave me a piece of paper, I asked why ? She only gave me a paper saying that I don’t have “homes ties” In what she based her decision if she didn’t asked me for supporting documents.
