I got a text from USCIS that my case has been received and an official form I-797 will follow. Is this the same as NOA1? It does not list which service center is processing the application. Is this normal?

You got that text message today? When did you send in your documents, if you don’t mind me asking.

Passport stamps and photos and one shared bank account worked for me.  I know not everyone can add people to their insurance etc without a SSN so things like that aren’t always possible.  Passport stamps though definitely send. I recommend adding a few affidavits from family and friends, signed and notarized, stating that you guys are in a real relationship.

You can definitely add someon eon your insurance without a social security number if that person has a tax ID number since that is the only number health insurance companies use to provide information to the IRS that the individual has health coverage. hope this help.

My interpretation of those instructions is that if you were submitting multiple petitions for different individuals in the same mailing (multiple family members, spouse and children, etc), then you would need a separate G-1450 for each application, instead of lumping them all in one.

I submitted a single Form G-1450 with my AoS application, which covered the fees for the I-130, I-485, and biometrics, totaling $1760. My credit card was charged within a few days of receipt, and everything has been moving forward since then. I assume if that had been incorrect, they would have just sent the whole thing back.

This is why i asked. Thanks for clarifying for me becaus i was going to use and do 2 separate forms so i'm glad you replied with this information.

Not true. For credit card, you can send one form with no issue as long as the total is correct.

I copied and paste this from the instructions on how to file using credit cards.  Are you saying that this individual can send the USCIS one payment of $1760. Am i misinterpreting what is written below. Have you or know of anyone who has sent just 1 form when filing concurrently with multiple applications?

    Multiple/Combined Applications

You must pay separately for each application, petition, or request you file.

You may pay both the application fee and biometric services fee with one Form G-1450.

If you are paying by credit card, submit one Form G-1450 with each application, petition, or request that you submit.

We will reject your entire package if you submit:

    • One Form G-1450 for multiple applications, petitions, or requests
    • A check and credit card authorization to split the payment for the same application, petition, or request
    • A mix of money orders, checks, and credit card authorizations together for multiple applications, petitions, or requests

Hello New York Based N-400 applicants - I was looking at the applicant data and did some analysis that you may or may not find useful.

    Some facts to note

    1. There are 41 applicants who have reported complete data from application date, fingerprints, interview and oath date.

Based on the 41 applicants the following information was calculated.

    1. The maximum time from the interview date to when the applicant had their oath was 241 days

    2. The minimum time from the interview date to when the applicant had their oath was 15 days

    3. The average time from the interview date to when the applicants had their oath was 50 days

    4. The standard deviation for this calculation was 43 days.

Out of the 41 data points the there were 3 (interview data to oath date) values 241, 140 and 140 which seemed like outliers. When I removed these from my calculations the calculated information changed somewhat.

Based on the 38 applicants the following information was calculated.

    1. The maximum time from the interview date to when the applicant had their oath was 91 days

    2. The minimum time from the interview date to when the applicant had their oath was 15 days

    3. The average time from the interview date to when the applicants had their oath was 40 days

    4. The standard deviation for this calculation was 21 days.

In conclusion, I would say for the New York area after the interview date people should have their oaths in less than a month and half i.e. 45 days unless of-course there is something that goes sideways.

    Let me know your thoughts.

    regards,

    psg052813

    Thanks for this. Super helpful!

    Congratulations.

I had my Oath last Friday (a week ago) which was 4 weeks after the interview. My field office was also NY.

Since I had travel plans I made an appointment at the Passport Agency downtown Manhattan and got my passport (and passport card I requested) the following day - the entire process was quick and efficient. Just fill the form on-line and bring the required documents and photo. Now is a great time to get it done it seems since it is past the summer rush and before the Xmas one.

Also did you have an estimated case completion time of 4 months, i guess for the 120 days that they are allowed? just noticed it when i logged in.

Guys i had my interview today and after 20 minutes i was given the N-652 with section "A" marked: congratulations you've been recommended for approval. Literally just a chit chat and asked straight forward questions about what was already on my application.

Passed the civics test with a breeze you've really just got to study and you will be fine. The only thing was difficult writing the answer for the writing portion of the test because the stylus was not working, i ended up just writing with my finger on the pad

She did say if i don't get a letter in 120 days to call. I checked my status on line and it was updated to recommended for approval and submitted for quality review.

I signed the pad that gave information on what to expect at the oath ceremony . she said congratulations and enjoy the holiday weekend. Glad this nerve wrecking part is over but the wait continues for the oath letter.

Good luck to everyone else awaiting an interview!

update i am now in line for oath was hoping it would've been oath scheduled but better that than in quality review. I am thankful.

I would say take as much documentation as you possibly can. Take all the evidence you submitted with the application, and if you applied based on the 3-year rule, take extra evidence and tax transcripts for the last three years as well things from work (health insurance for you two, life insurance beneficiary, 401k beneficiary, etc).. And you should be fine.

Thank you, i filed based on the 5 year rule, which is why i am always worrying about what documentation to take the letter doesn't list much.

I had the same "longer than expected message" on my account once the countdown reached 1 day.... in my case my status changed to interview scheduled after about 10 days on 7/25/18.

My PD is 11/2018 so you might be scheduled for interview soon.

this was the same for me as well. got the interview letter probably a week later

Hi guys for 2 years I've been filing Head of Household, i have 2 children, however i am married. i recently filed an amendment to file as married filing separately. I have the tax transcripts for all 5 years as required. Will the head of household filing status be an issue for the n400 interview since the transcripts of the amended return wont be available in time for the interview which is a month away? Can i just bring a copy of the return for the 2 years that was amended?

is there anyone with any familiar experience that can give some insight, would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks for the response.

I have an NBC number, so for me it says nothing more than the egov site. I'm not given an estimated completion time either.

I assume you are checking at the DHS website, correct? Do you have an IOE number? That may explain the difference.

    Thanks,

    Ash

well yea that would explain it my receipt number starts with IOE, are you applying based on 5 years or based on 3 year marriage?  I often wonder the difference between IOE and NBC

Are you able to see documents online even after filing paper? I filled paper and on this websites:

    https://egov.uscis.gov/

There is nothing but just case status.

But I also opened an account here:

    https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/

After I heard you check your status there even after filing paper. It is true, I can check my status there, but I see nothing more that the first website.

I'd appreciate if you could point us in the right direction on where to see notices online after filing paper.

    Cheers!

Hi Yea i was able see my interview letter and print out to take with me to the interview. Every letter they've mailed is in my documents section. A few other members have said that they were told receipt numbers starting with NBC doesn't work for this system.

When you go to your account are you able to see estimated completion time? i you are click on that section and it should open up to show you the rest of information.

Thanks. I hope you don't have to wait too long for your oath either.
I'm curious, did you file paper or online? Would you want to add your entry to the chart? I can help with that if you give me your dates.

It seems like it's only a handful of us 2017 applicants still waiting for interviews.  I'm at 11 months and still no interview date. Hoping it comes soon!

Oh no, that's a rough wait. I hope it will be all done for you before the year ends. I filed on paper December 7, 2017. Yes please add my timeline to the chart.

Resident since 4-15-2000 (came here as a child)

    Sent: 12/7/2017

    Biometrics: 12/28/2017

LONG WAIT! Never got the inline for interview status

    Interview scheduled: 8/26/2018

Saw my interview notice in my documents online, haven't received a physical copy yet

    Interview Date: 10/04/2018

  18. 3 minutes ago, Matmat said:

That number doesn't mean much, I wouldn't pay attention to it. From looking at recent entries, you can see that people have very different timelines even when they applied from the same place, at the same time. I would say the average for NYC at the moment is closer to 10-12 months, but again there is a lot of variation so that's to take with a grain of salt.

    Good luck to you!

10-12 months sounds accurate i waited 9 months to get an interview after my fingerprints were taken. so it will be 10 months on the actual day of my interview hopefully no more than an extra month for the oath.

From the time the IRS received the W7 with my federal return, we got the ITIN in the mail 1 month and 3 days later. I was able to file my state taxes immediately after receiving that.

My federal refund was issued approximately 1 month after the ITIN came.

Thanks for the quick reply, i filed my taxes as head of household and need to amend to file jointly, do you know if i send the amended with w7 if it will be processed all at once or should apply for the ITIN and then do the amendment?
