Greetings from the core of my heart

My family members case has been in A.P since 2018. Two days before, i logged in to ceac.state.gov website and then to DS 261 Online Alien Registration, there i saw my family members online filled DS-260 stating "case has been reopened". And above it said that one or more cases has been reopened please sign-in and submit the forms which I did. So, wanted to ask that what is this for? This has been my second time i did it.

Did you receive a notification from the Embassy before submitting it?  The Embassy usually contacts applicants to update and resubmit the DS-260 when they are ready to continue processing the case. ( For instance if a case is in  AP for more than one year and finally they are ready to proceed with your case, they will ask u to update and submit the DS-260 and if another interview, you will have to come with updated document...)

    Hello!

My husband just had his immigrant visa interview on Dec 14th at Montreal. The Consular Officer said everything is fine on their end, but my husband was handed a 221g because the Consulate did not receive his medical results by time of interview. They kept his passport. After the interview, my husband's CEAC status went from Refused to Issued on Friday, Dec 18th. We were SO happy to see this since we figured they received his medical results. Then, his status changed from "Issued" to "Ready" on Dec 21st. Shortly after, his status went back to "Refused" on Dec 23rd. The Consulate finally "officially" confirmed receipt of my husband's medical via email on Tuesday (Dec 22).

Should I be concerned about these many CEAC status changes? The CO didn't say he needed any additional information from my husband at time of interview (only required the medical results). I'm stressing out that his status changed so many times and landed on "Refused" after already being issued. Is he just in an admin processing of some sort? Trying NOT to worry, but can't help it. Let me know if what we're seeing is normal?

Since the embassy has acknowledged receipt of the medical results it will change back to "Issued". Maybe the earlier "Issued" on the website was because the officer thought they already had your medical in their system, a second look suggested they had not yet received it and had to change it back to "Refused"(AP). Now that they have it you should be fine...All the best.

    Hi everyone!

Me and my husband just went for my combo interview ( i-751 and n-400) and OH BOY it was absolutely humiliating experience.

First they made us wait in the lobby for 45 minutes when every other person got admitted pretty much straight away. Then they officer showed up and called me and told my husband to wait. And the hell started to happen. His first question after getting my oath and date of birth was why I decided to change my surname to my husband`s and stated I should not do so because it would not convince him that our marriage is legit. I said that at the time of the wedding we did not think about it ( married on a tiny island in Caribbean not in States) but I do want to change my surname now, its time I said.

Next he asked little about when we got married, and then said : "Mam did you married your husband for green card?". I did say no i  did marry him coz i love him. He started threatening me that he had seen many people in that chair and no one will admit to it. Then he asked if we have kids. And here is the WORST  part. I said no, he asked why. I said we want to and had a sad experience this July with miscarriage. He look at me with disguise in his face  and said "And you have a paper to prove it?" I honestly replied that I did not think this is related to my interview so no I did not bring it and he laughed and said " Of COURSE you do NOT have them!" so he accused me of lying about my miscarriage. I stated shaking with anger inside but kept looking still and calm.

Then the ball started rolling, he kept asking if I married for green card. I calmly said 2 more times No i did coz I love my husband. He started going through my file and said "I don`t know how you got approved to come here at all because I dont see any proof of legit marriage" And let me tell you, I sent SO MUCH! We have joint account which both our salaries go to, we pay bills from it, we own a house together, we own cars, insurances, tons of pictures of my family here with  his, we went to Russia with my spouse to see my family as well, trips to Mexico, NY, vacations, cards from friends and family.....NAME IT!

He then continued: "Why your name is not on a rental lease for apartment?". First, that was 3 years ago, second I explained that rental company would not place me as renter due to no DL and job ( that was when I just moved here) so my husband is renter and I shown as occupant. Also I added we do own our hose for over a year now which we both own. He opened my bank statement ( joint account) and said : " I dont see any bills here, just Amazon and going out to restaurants" I took recent statement from my docs I brought and said here, you can actually see all bills per month we pay from same account. He did not want to look ( I also sent them with my N-400 so he just did not spend any time to study our case) He did not want to see any evidence I brought, pictures etc. He took our deed on house and thats it.

I passed all tests easily. Then he asked how we met, I explained. Then called in my husband. He asked him also how we met and when he said same as I did with exact date (we do celebrate this as our anniversary as well so we know it) he said "Sounds like you both learnt it by hard!"

He asked if we have more to add, because he does not believe in our marriage, my spouse offered all the same as I did plus IRS taxes showing both filing together, but officer said it is not a proof coz it is financially benefits to file together!!!!

In the end officer said we will hear smth back in 30 days or less by mail.

Anyways, he was mean, humiliating, talking to me like I am sort of criminal. Also made comments after every of my answer showing he does not give a #$%$#@! what I said and he made his mind about us. He treated me so bad that after the interview I could not stop crying, my husband got extremely mad coz he saw it with his own eyes.

I just want to share this with you and you to tell me what you think. Once again, we are happily in love, all possible proof was offered, I adore his family, we had proof of their and my family vacation together over Christmas, tons of pics, etc etc. I did not one time interrupted him, or made a face or raised my tone. I was acting overly polite even tho I wanted to tell him how inappropriate he is acting. I kept being calm.

Hmm this is so sad, sorry for your miscarriage.. The officer was straight up rude and seemed reluctant to look at the evidence you provided, and the worst part he making laughs about your past miscarriage (sorry once again). He was not professional at all and needs to be reported...

Pls do update us on  later developments on the case

Hope u get this resolved ASAP

I had my interview yesterday 18th June, the CO gave me a sheet with an instruction on how to pick my passport and visa and a sheet with my legal rights as an immigrant on a marriage-base visa and CO told me I can call the authorities if i face domestic abuse. CEAC status change from ready to administrative process on 19th June, should I be worry or it's just normal?

Administrative Processing can mean so many things but in your case it is the normal.standard procedure of processing the visa and printing it in your passport. Dont be worried at all. Once they say you are approved, you are approved.

Now constantly check for a  notification for passport pickup from UStraveldocs

Yeaah ryt bro . Soo grateful 🙏🙏🙏

It is required of you to send an Affidavit of Support for the past 3 yrs and tax transcripts to serve as proof. And again u must redo the medicals and police reports. One Important things you must check if the AOS meet the Poverty guidelines for the specified household size cos the Ghana has been refusing many ppl based on likely public charge..

All reaffirmed cases I know on Visa Journey from a Ghanaian perspective have seen approval. No or basic questions are asked at the interview. You don't need to panic just keep your paperworks in order and surely u will be approved. Never stop praying too it helps a lot.

I know this has been grewsome journey for us all. I have been stressing, does the embassy contact you before your interview and send you the forms before going for your physicals; or do we just get the physical done with our appointment that we made for the interview. I spoke with NVC friday they said that were send my info to the embassy. I have so many question because its not cut in dry with method like when you are going through the first time. I maybe asking the same question but any who just ready to get my baby home!! lol

I was actually speaking with my spouse before my interview on Tue  to discuss whether she really had an email from the embassy to schedule appointment because we agreed to use her email. She actually said the email she used in the application was her old email and that she no longer has access to it. Throughout the visa she received notification from the mail. So yes I believe the embassy sent us the appointment only that we didn't have access to it. So When the Embassy received ur app, they will basically make a quick.review since it is reaffirmed and update your ceac to Administrative Processing. So it may probably take 1 to 2 weeks to receive ur appointment package when ur case change from Expiring soon to Ap. So keep on checking the website until ur status change to AP then I am certain he can do his physicals. That is how the trend has been for reaffirmed cases in ghana after they introduced the online scheduling system.

Thanks you guys for responding. Just preparing him I have to get his interview techniques to flow. I told him he has to let it flow instead of over thinking. But yes I'm praying for all of us we are going to get our spouses here. I'm so glad this thread was created because many don't have a clue!!

Good evening vj members I was approved today 😂. Our God is able. The officer only asked my name, went through my docs and said congratulations you are approved have a safe journey to the US😂😂😂

Every reaffirmed will be approved. The interview will just be a formality 😊

evening everyone i have an appointment for next month. Since everyone is has gotten reaffirm can someone give us some of the question they may ask, or will they ask more indepth question that were in your chats. I know most say they are easier But can someone post some random questions.

Each case is unique. Some posted they were not asked any questions. Others were asked 1 question, others 5 so it depends on the individual circumstances. But usually they ask basic questions with straightforward answers. These are some of the common questions ppl were asked for their reaffirmed interview after going through the forum.

    Have u been married before

Has ur spouse been married before

How many children do you have.

How many children does your spouse have.

Where does your spouse live /work

How many ppl are living with ur spouse

How long have you been married.

How many times has ur spouse visited you....etc.

As I stated earlier each case is unique and these are some of the probable ones I could gather so you should prepare adequately for the interview. And also be prepared for some random personal questions like

What did you and your spouse talk abt last night.

What does your spouse do u dont like.

What are your plans for your xxx anniversary.

In summary no one can certainly  predict the set of questions you may be asked during the interview but to be on the safer side your hubby needs to be prepared adequately to address any question or concern raised by the CO. I was recently interacting with one person who went for his reaffirmed interview and was approved and he said the Embassy staff now is friendly and professional. He said the Co who interviewed was a male and he was interacting with him as if they have been friends for many years. He even said the CO told him to help him teach people how to organize their papers bcos he said the CO told him he was well organized and he made his work easy for him.

I believe so far so good it is faring well for reaffirmed cases and everyone is getting approved the second time. We have to keep on praying for God to see us all through.

My reaffirmed interview is on this upcoming Tuesday. Remind me in ur prayers. I will give update on my approval on Tuesday cos I know God has already approved all of us.

My reaffirmed case has been sent to US embassy here in Accra, Ghana since May 03 2018 and no word since from embassy whether they have  received the packet or not or nothing about our second interview.

I want to know do we need to update ds260 form before consulate contact us?

Or wlmy wife in US and I here in Ghana have to wait till have a call from embassy or consulate?

Pls I have tried calling embassy here in Ghana and no response.

Check ceac for your last update on ur case and whether it is Exp.. or Ap. When you call the Embassy an agent will not pick right away you will have to follow the computerized instructions to speak to an agent to inquire about your case whether they have received it or not

How come you update ds260 when you have no word from embassy or Consulate?

Have tried calling those numbers and always answering machine and no human response

When u sign to ur IV visa if it says reopened it means u have to update. the Embassy will not typically tell u to update but u must do it prior ur 2nd interview. And the Embassy will not give u date. U have schedule interview urself at

My reaffirmed CR-1 case has been returned back to Accra US embassy Ghana since May 03 2018 after receiving notice letter, till date today September  no word from embassy nor consulate about receiving our packet and worse of all case check status shows Expired but been told it does not matter...My issue is how long do Consulate get in touch for 2nd interview?

For reaffirmed cases the consulate does little concerning an interview. You have to schedule it yourself but before that u must update your ds 260 and submit. If u want contact the Embassy for more info via phone these are the numbers.

I am happy for you Chris_trina. We shall all overcome this subtle process by God's Grace

My case has been at the Embassy since July and I did not receive any email to schedule an appointment but I kept on checking the website for available dates and I found one and scheduled it in October 9. So I decided to call the Embassy to see whether they approve of it because I didn't receive any email before scheduling. The man I talked was very friendly. He asked my passport and name and said okay so ur case is reaffirmed and I said yes and he confirmed I had an appointment with them so I should report on the date I had scheduled.😊
